^This is exactly correct. While I support this bill it is NOT going to enable est. 95% of the people in this thread get a recommendation or acquire MJ legally. This bill severly restricts who is eligible: "the legislation would apply to patients suffering from a debilitating disease or chronic illnesses that causes "wasting syndrome, severe or chronic pain, seizures and severe and persistent muscle spasms."

With that said, I understand New Mexico's mmj law is similarly restrictive and now it is under review to add new conditions that are eligible for mmj. So a law like this would be a good first step.

Call your elected officials people. And get all your friends to call as well.

Although California may be less strict than other states, do you think their bill says "anybody that's sick or at least says they're sick can get weed"? No, I'm sure it says something similar to NJ's proposed bill, and 12 other states' bills.

Also, I'm not, by any means, planning on being eligible for smoking MMJ...that's not why I started this thread...I started this thread out of sheer excitement that what I thought was an extremely conservative state is now considering, seriously, medical marijuana. It actually sparked a little candle of hope inside me, that maybe this country and state in particular isn't as corrupt and lobbied as I previously thought. I think if NJ does this, it will set a hell of an example to surrounding states, which will then domino into other states around the country.


Although...I think it would be pretty fun to be a caregiver...I have many friends and acquaintances that could qualify for MMJ. I think it would be a lot of fun to grow, legally, for someone. At least until the DEA shows up at my doorstep (help me out here, Obama man.)

also does anyone know how to become a medical dispensary?
i have family with a failing business that would be open minded toward the idea
and it could make some jobs out there for some close friends ...lol 732

Never did I mention anyone with cancer, if you have cancer I highly doubt you are using marijuana to treat your illness. Howeever I doubt anyone waits to get MLS and Crohn's Disease, you are either born with them or it will attack you out of no where and there is very litte you can do about it. I beg to differ. Evidence is coming in that marijuana may indeed fight cancer. Many researchers and scientists are taking specific chemicals from marijuana and making anti-cancer/anti-tumor meds. THC by itself has the ability to cause cell death in brain tumors while not harming healthy cells. There is plenty of new science and research articles showing a definite link to marijuana's anti-cancer properties... so to say that it can't help defend you against cancer is wrong.

I'd be down to work at a dispensary, shit I'd do volunteer work for a dispensary until it got on its feet and was able to pay me.

I really dont know. Is it like any other business or would some kind of medical/pharmaceutical degree be required for someone to own/operate a dispensary? Im sure there are people on GC that could shed some light on that.

Well, dispensaries are non-profit organizations aren't they? I thought you needed an MMJ card then you could start a co-op...I'm not sure though, it would be nice if a first-hand account was posted here.
