When you see a doctor to get a recommendation for medicinal cannabis, you can also ask about having a caregiver. You should have been with your friend while he was at the doctor's office. Then you have to prove to the doctor that your friend has the inability to cope with every day life without you by his side.

Re: Question about card. please help

sense he already got his card is it too late to get a caregiver?

the plan was to say he works and goes to school full time, and cant make the drive to the dispensaries (they are like an hour away) so he was making me his caregiver so i could make the trips for him.

so could we go back to the doctor and sign up? or is it too late?

Re: Question about card. please help

I don't think it's too late to sign up for being a caregiver, but I doubt that explanation will be sufficient enough to make your his legal caregiver. If he's able to make it work and school on his own, then it sounds like he doesn't need a caregiver at all. I think you need to know exactly what a caregiver does before trying to become one.

Re: Question about card. please help

could you explain to me what a caregiver does?

i dont see how that wouldnt work (but i dont really know what im talking about). like if we say he is working full time, and goes to school aswell, idk i thought saying he didnt have time to make the trips would be a legit reason.

Re: Question about card. please help

Have you read Prop 215 and SB420? I Highly Recommend you/anyone who is a CA patient reads both Prop 215 and SB420. Both are very informative and will answer many questions.

A caregiver consistently assumes health, housing, or safety of another.

Please bookmark this link:
http://www.hr95.org/Prop215.html

From http://www.hr95.org/Prop215.html:
Quote:
For the purposes of this section, Primary caregiver means the individual designated by the person exempted under this act who has consistently assumed responsibility for the housing, health or safety of that person.

IMO, mentioned person would not qualify as a caregiver. As recent court rulings stated,
Quote:
Simply providing medical marijuana to a patient in need does not constitute the legal definition of a primary caregiver and therefore does not make a person immune from prosecution, according to a recent California Supreme Court ruling.
