Granny Storm Crow's List-

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by Storm Crow, Aug 1, 2008.

  1. How this list came about-

"If the truth won't do, then something is wrong!"

Those were the furious words of my grandfather to my Mother. I had walked in from joyfully stuffing my face with red raspberries in the garden, straight into "war zone"! My gentle grandfather in a fury, his hand raised! Mom was just beginning to shrink back away from him. They saw me and quickly sent me away. But it was too late, the scene and the words were seared into my 5-year-old brain. That was over 55 years ago, but I still remember it clearly. My grandfather was a minister, one very short step away from God in my 5 year old mind. It was one of those life changing moments. It is still rare for me to tell a lie. I never found out what my Mother's lie was.

As I child, I suffered a traumatic head injury. Another child tried to murder me with a hammer. I was left with frequent migraines. At 19, like many rebellious teens, I tried cannabis. It took about a year for me to make the connection between using cannabis and the absence of my normally frequent migraines. I have used cannabis ever since.

I am an avid reader. While perusing an old book on herbal medicine, I read how the little old ladies of Mexico made and used a cannabis/tequila rub on their arthritic hands. Then I met Joey, an epileptic musician. He told me another interesting fact- when he had pot he could cut his medication in half! On a camping trip years later, I smelled an unmistakable odor. Following my nose, I was totally shocked to find a grandmotherly lady in her 70s puffing away on a delicate oriental pipe. "Parkinson's. And the pot's way cheaper than the pills!" Her nephew kept her well supplied, she said. We had a nice chat about various medical uses of cannabis.

Epilepsy, Parkinson's, arthritis, and my migraines! What else was it good for? Yet every news article on cannabis that I saw, claimed one new horror after another. Men grew breasts and were impotent. Women became sterile or miscarried. It made you crazy and murderous. Made you lazy and do nothing. It caused cancer and heart attacks...What I had learned on my own and from others and what I was being told in the press were so different!

What was the truth? I began researching. I printed the first studies up and kept them in a notebook, just as a personal reference. The notebook quickly filled. I started a Word file of the URLs and on July 30 2007, I posted it. It continues to grow.

Here's some of what I have found. All I've done is copy the URLs, then put them all in some semblance order for everyone to use as a reference. Please feel free to share this list with anyone who could benefit from it.

  2. My jaw is hanging slack, very impressive and well organized! +Rep and maybe consider this for a sticky? Mods?

    Great work Storm Crow!:hello:

  3. Dayum! That is a lot of info! Thank you for gathering and organizing all this data. :hello:

  4. Absolutely amazing...

This should definitely be made into a sticky.

  5. Hi Granny Stormcrow.

    Remember me?

I posted at CannCom under a diff name.

  6. Seconded. Wonderful post.

  7. Very nice list, bookmarking this page for future reference. Thanks for putting in the enormous amount of time to compile it.

  8. :wave:Glad you liked it! And Face, of course, I remember you!

I started posting this this on my birthday- July 30th- took me a while to get around to everyone. I've been pretty busy! It has been literally been sent around the world! Putting it together has taken me a couple of years! I'm not even going to guess at the number of hours! But we needed it and no one else was doing it!

I would like a small birthday present from each of you in return for all my work. I would like each of you to pick one page and print it up with the URL of my post here, or at IC, or Cannabis.com. Pick either a page at random, or one that has special significance for you. I would like you to send it (anonymously, if need be) to your doctor, relative, friend, clergyperson, politician or just leave it in a public place like a laundromat, student lounge, slipped in a book on cannabis at the library, etc. That would make my old heart happy! Education is the road to legalization! - Granny:smoke:

  9. Haha i remember you from the cannabis.com site forum! sucks that they turned it into a strict only MMJ talk forum.

    Peace:smoke:

  10. Our Pleasure! And happy B-Day!

  11. Hey Granny, you may remember me from the Cann.Com as well. You definitely played a role in helping me attain my MMJ rec. Thanks again, and happy belated!

  12. Thank you so much for this list I am truly thankful
    this needs to stickied
    Cannabis is the wonder drug

  13. +rep awesome list very informative A++

  14. Man... I wish people like my parents would stuff like this before they go off so pompously about how terrible weed is for me..

  15. SI, your parents are at least in their 40s, right? All those nasty little ailments of old age will be showing up soon. Mom's touch of arthritis shows up, or Dad gets a little skin growth removed- pounce on the chance! Educate them! They have been fed the governmental "Pot is a dangerous drug" line- forgive them that- they were brainwashed as kids and believed it! Just keep Granny's list (link below) in the back of your mind for that day!

  16. This needs to be stickied NOW!!!!

I have a MMJ Card in the state of Oregon for permanent damage to the Mandibular and Lingual nerves after the surgical removal of a large Odontogenic Keratocyst, a large portion of my lower mandible, and two affected teeth. Without MJ, my lower lip and teeth feel like they are in a vice and being prodded with thousands of needles. All day.

OKC's have a 70% chance of recurrence as well, and after 4 years it has not returned. I am a firm believer that cannabis has fought/is fighting the recurring tumor off!

  17. VC, have you looked at Rick Simpson's video? I did a transcript of it partly because I hadn't seen one on the net and partly because I am about 1 semester from a degree in psychology. I watched their "microexpressions" as I transcribed. They believe it works. (Stop action is an excellent tool for psychologists.)

Me? I have to see a couple of medical study results, but considering the length of the "cannabis vs cancer" section, it would seem logical that it should affect at least some varieties of tumors- but logic doesn't always apply in biology/medicine.

Heck- even if it works in only 1 in 10 tumors, it should be the first line treatment. Non-toxic, cheap, simple!

    Some things to consider-
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN MAKING IT! You don't want a fire or a case of poisoning from the toxic fumes!

Making it is a disaster, ecologically! (see below) :(

Wanna be rich? The day it is legal in your state, here is a chance for some bright college students to get in on the "ground floor". You need some basic chemistry equipment and knowledge, a small fume recapture system (check ebay?), an organic farmer and a bag of "named" seeds. Just make a good product, be honest and charge a fair price- you may get rich while helping folks and also stay remarkably high as part of your "testing program" (lol). I would also REALLY look into a very high CBD level cannabis version of the oil. :hello: Read the list for what it's good for.

If, for whatever reason, I can't work in education ,- well, gardening is fun and I know my way around a lab (bio lab aide in high school, and then twice again in college- about 30 years apart! ;) ) Sad truth is- 1 in 3 of us will have cancer sometime in our lives. There will be a market for the oil, legal or not.
