For the most part, yes, it cuts down on the cramps. I used to be popping anti-spasm meds constantly throughout the day, and I've definitely toned that down. I needed to take the spasm meds maybe once a week or once every couple weeks after starting Humira. I had a great 9 months or so of remission (the longest I've ever had) on it until we had to mess with the dosage.

I completely know what you mean about the cramps...I can deal with nearly everything else, but the cramps get me every time. They can be fucking painful sometimes!

Oh man, I mean sometimes the cramps are mild, but then its the time that it litterally takes the air out of you, you start sweating and you feel like you cant even stand up straight and you got to race to the bathroom only to find out that its not ready to come out yet, so you sit on the toilet bracing yourself to what ever you can thinking your going to die it so miserable.

worse part about them cramps is it doesn't matter what it is yur doing at the time, it could but any time.. and thats what i hate most.

I've broken a couple of blood vessels in my eye lately from the Crohn's. My family was a bit taken aback when they saw it.
oh, ok. Well I have had so many endocopies and colonocopies I can't exaclty remeber which one as that was around the time I got my first colonocopy. I was kinda funny how people woud ack around me though. My hole team like back 20 feet away from me the first day I came back. lol

Man, I have been staying home a lot lately for fear of not making it to a bathroom. I've lost weight and need some new pants for work, but even the thought of going shopping is tiring.
The last two days I've slept 'til 10 AM and taken a nap again by 3PM.
I've been wanting to go down the the head shop to find some sort of water piece to smoke out of, but even that has seemed like too much work. Blah.

Re: Crohn's Patients

bought an 8th of some dankness. $20. It gets me feeling good. After 2 hits i could already feel the pain MELTING away. Only thing was, i got a cramp from eating so much.

It was a different kind of cramp. Not a Crohn's cramp. I welcome these full stomach cramps. It feels great to feel full again.!!!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Nice! Been having a good day today too. Took the dog for a long walk, ate good food without cramps, and only one trip to the restroom. I toked last night. One huge hit and I was feeling good. There was an old Stevie Ray Vaughn concert/documentary on PBS and I watched some of that. Man could that guy wail! Not looking forward to work tomorrow/this week/ever. I always feel better when I can sleep in and take it easy. 6AM is too harsh on my constitution. Hope everyone had a good one today!

Man ill let some embarrasing info out here ( not really, just my situation )

The truth is ANY WEED WILL HELP ( Thank you GOD for this! )

I live in a certain place where all we get is brick dirt mexican schwag with
huge amounts of seeds, stems, takes you 15 minutes to break out a joint.

I personally go to a different state about 30 minutes from here and pick up mids
but now I have a job. Schwag helped me for a full year, and damnit I admit it.

Honestly from a real answer's standpoint. Indica. Blueberry, Blackberry,
it'll do the real medical work.

But forreal, anyweed in general helps, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

No actual medical research has really been done to my knowledge.

Most of us here have had a great response to MJ.

Things we have posted that have gotten better since injesting MJ

-Less cramping (relaxes "nervious" stomach, eases pain of cramps)
-Increased Appitite (Not only as munchies but just in general b/c we feel better)
-Increased weight (not only from eating food, but keeping it in)
-increased strength, stamina and energy (from the calories and carbs we keep it.)
-Less Bowl Movements
-less dependence on Rx meds.
-less joint and muscle pain

and the biggest thing i think, Hope for a better quality of living.

Guys, help me out if i missed anything.

I think many people use MJ in addition to medications. I think the major benfits were covered already. If medications aren't giving relief (or if they have side effects such as nausea or what have you) I think MJ can be a good complement. For me, MJ seems to just "calm" my guts when they are rumbling/cramping. There seems to be some pain relief too (I have terrible joint and muscle pains.) I have not had good experiences with the meds for Crohn's, so I have been trying MJ and it seems to help at least some.

Best of luck!

Re: Crohn's Patients

I just found this article the other day http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn7766

it says in part "To their surprise, the team discovered CB1 cannabinoid receptors – which are known to be present in the brain – in the endothelial cells which line the gut. “I think they must be involved in repairing the lining of the gut when it is damaged,” Wright says.

She deliberately damaged the cells to cause inflammation of the gut lining and then added synthetically produced cannabinoids. “The gut started to heal: the broken cells were repaired and brought back closer together to mend the tears,” she told New Scientist.

Wright believes that in a healthy gut, natural endogenous cannabinoids are released from endothelial cells when they are injured, which then bind to the CB1 receptors. The process appears to set off a wound-healing reaction. “When people use cannabis, the cannabinoids bind to these receptors in the same way,” she said.

Previous studies have shown that CB1 receptors located on the nerve cells in the gut respond to cannabinoids by slowing gut motility, therefore reducing the painful muscle contractions associated with diarrhea.

Wright and her team also discovered another cannabinoid receptor, CB2, in the guts of IBD sufferers, which was not present in healthy guts. These receptors, which also respond to chemicals in cannabis, appear to be associated with apoptosis – programmed cell death – and may have a role in suppressing the overactive immune system and reducing inflammation by moping up excess cells, she suggests.

Re: Crohn's Patients

I do a lot of reading trying to gather as much info as I can about Crohn's, and came across these articles today:

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/117665.php

http://www.veganoutreach.org/health/gotmilk.html

The link between cattle/dairy and Crohn's is an intriguing one. The second article is a long read but well worth it.
