Good. I'd wait and see how this one comes out. I'd be willing to bet that it's back to or close to normal again. Let us know how it goes!

Re: Crohn's Patients

In the last couple of weeks I've been havin some considerable pain, enough to call in and bitch. They got me a pint of some liquid hydrocodone and I finished it. Opiates don't really help appetite though, so I'm off that and my doc gave me a script to some anti-spasmodic of sorts.

Only things that have helped me majorly are Cannabis and Remicaide. (No MMJ in Texas yet )

Sorry to hear that man. I hope you have better luck with antispasmodics than me. They did nothing for cramps for me. I've only really seen results between cannabis and Humira, though I have not tried Remicade yet... That will be my next and final attempt at pharms before I resort strictly to cannabis, mainly for monetary reasons... Cannabis has given the best overall results, so when it comes down to it, that's the only medication I'd prefer to pay for.

Re: Crohn's Patients

When I'm in terrible pain from it, I usually make myself a batch of poppy tea. The eta itself tastes like shit, but I add a bunch of sugar and honey and it helps. It'll relieve the pain for 8+ hours. really helps me out at work. Plus, its cheap to do.

The only bad part about opiates is the constipating effect though, but I combat it by drinking alot of water, which doesnt hurt my gut at all, and I get my nutrients by drinking Ensure. When its bad thats a good combo to use. It helps alot and you'll feel better

Hope you have insurance then , remicaide is expensive as balls. ~4gs a pop and up

Oh, the anti-spasmodic I got is called Hyoscyamine. I could have read War and Peace faster than the side effect list for it, damn.

Doesn't cannabis already contain some antispasmodic properties?

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

thanks guys!
No such thing as "medical booze" my friend. You are not "forced" to drink, I'm sorry. Drinking is TERRIBLE for the guts. If you are even REMOTELY serious about trying to be healthy, you need to stop. Even when I'd have one drink years ago when the Crohn's just started I'd have terrible diarrhea afterward. Not worth it.

Why did you stop using the cannabis? Family on your case or something else?

Sometimes they just act up, you know? I'll go weeks without altering anything, without eating things I shouldn't, and still have a really fucked up day. Just happens.

What kind of noises? Like the "im hungry" kind of noise, or does it hurt?

Side note, ensure tastes like shit

I always like dicyclomine better than hyoscyamine. Both work for me, but hyoscyamine gave me mad dry mouth, so I stopped taking it. Rarely take dicyclomine anymore either because, yes, cannabis does have some antispasmodic properties, and that's been keeping me mostly in check with cramping.

That's the antipasmadic I was prescribed, with no results. My problems seems to be more sharp pains, less actual cramping than anything else.

My insurance covered the Humira, I'm fairly confident they'd cover the Remicade but I'm not sure I want to go through treatment that intrusive... How bad is it?

Re: Crohn's Patients

You just sit there for 3 hours on an IV drip and then you go home lol. Not too intrusive.

Humira and remicade are both tnf blockers, so basically the same medicine if I'm thinking correctly.

Re: Crohn's Patients

The big differences between Remicade and Humira are that Remicade's an IV treatment, while Humira's just a shot. And, Remicade is made out of mouse proteins, which can cause antibodies to be built up more quickly in some people, but Humira's fully human proteins, though antibodies can still be built up.
