What's he supposed to do, organize a militia? For all practical purposes, the federal government doesn't recognize state laws that interfere with federal laws, especially when it comes to drugs. There isn't shit California can do other than elect senators who will vote yes for medical marijuana in the U.S. Congress. Because on June 6, 2005, the Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision that Congress has the right to outlaw medicinal cannabis, thus subjecting all patients to federal prosecution even in states where the treatment is legalized.

According to the Supreme Court it has everything to do with interstate commerce.

He could at least publicly acknowledge that his states rights are being raped by the federal government. He can also denounce the DEA's actions. This will not change much except make people more aware of the abuse their state is taking. He did a similar thing when California passed new energy laws and the feds said that auto makers do not have to follow them. Arnold sued the EPA for overstepping their boundaries.

If the state law doesn't trump the fed, than why do we have it?
I thought state law was supposed to trump fed law? Wasn't there a case mad long ago about some guy who got fucked by his gov't, and the federal supreme court couldn't do shit about it 'cause it was legal in his state? I learned about it in HS, so I don't really remember much of the details... Just that it went to the Supreme Court, and he lost, because the state law trumped.

Last I checked your state laws do NOT override the FEDERAL LAWS. So just because CA as a state has legalized it,doesnt mean that the Federal Government recognizes that. As far as theyre concerned,MJ is still very much ILLEGAL.
