i have been told zoloft rewires your brain...and the two together are not healthy ect...i hear one study say
its extremely dangerous and then another study says its harmless and then i hear something good about zoloft and than i hear how bad zoloft is there are things that zoloft helps me with like...social anxiety but on the other hand i feel little or no emotion example...a few people have died recently and ive said man that sucks and then i went on with my life not caring as much as i would without zoloft...i feel like zoloft is bad and good... and i LOVE marijuana im just sick of these "STUDIES" ...which can be lied about the majority of the time and get paid for making these so called studies... i never know who to listen to ...the pros are extremely good and the cons are extremely bad if that makes sense sorry for the grammar (im not in school so i could care less) its the internet lol ![]() ![]() |

I used to take lexapro and smoke all the time. I stopped taking lexapro and thankfully. Those types of drugs i just really really dont trust. Its pretty blatantly obvious to me the FDA is only out for money and not our safety. Its not approved for people under 18 (i had it when i was well under 18 years of age) and some people were being perscribed lexapro for TMJ of all things.
Anyway, i had no problems smoking while on lexapro except sometimes id get major panic attacks but i think thats just because i had a low tollerance and didnt know how to handle myself. (doesnt happen now so it could have def. been the lexapro affecting my high) long story short my advice is to never even think about getting on these drugs (lexapro is def. a no no in my book no matter what). Its a last resort situation for me. Now that ive been off it for a good 2-3 weeks (still some withdrawal side effects unfortunatley) my emotions are all over the place but i dont even know if thats normal and its hard for me to handle them sometimes. But when i was on lexapro my emotions were at a constant (sort of like platuau of blahness) the entire time and i really didnt experience things which was unfortunate. The mixing of the two are probably not good, but im thinking the bad apple of the two is NOT marijuana..its lexapro or in your case zoloft. Asking any doctor other than an MMJ doc probably wont yeild you the best answer as marijuana is illegal ... ;( they will probably say "well its illegal why are you smoking it anyway. You know smoke is bad for your lungs right? disease disease disease" but they fail to mention the horrible side effects of anti-depressants.....anyway thats my rant...what? |

my doc wants to put me on lexapro or zoloft (we mentioned both but will be on either or soon) and i want to know what the side effects are before taking them so Plow id appreciate if u elaborated.

I went on Lexapro after serious thought thinking id benefit from it. I was young though so a lot of it was just me going to doctor appointments. These were basically 15 minute sessions (i doubt a single one lasted even that long) where a psychiatrist asks you a few questions and laughs and jokes and then writes a perscription for whatever drug is the flavor of the month. Id have these appointments every 3-12 months. The week i started taking it i felt less depressed...but i think that was placebo. Being where im at today in my life i pretty much know i wasnt depressed at all. Wrongly diagnosed. It was probably mostly just hormones. I noticed id start getting these "electrical flashes" or pulses through my body every time i moved my eyes from side to side. This was only helped when i was bumped to 20 mg a day once a day, (and recently discovered, smoking pot helps the naseua and some of the pulsing) until i finally decided i was going ot just stop cold turkey. This was because i felt jaded and hazy (and not from pot...i was smoking on and off during this time and until only recently have i begun to smoke massive amounts). My moods didnt seem to fluctuate normally anymore. It was mostly just a plataue of feeling jaded and hazy and no real excitement or anything. So i quit taking them cold turkey when my last perscription ended. *Warning- stupid idea. No matter how much you want to get off lexapro you should always consult your doctor before doing so. Side effects are serious and sometimes deadly (i.e. Siezures). And side effects can last up to 8 weeks which also includes extreme depression and a sense of hopelessness and end of world type feelings. Some people take as long as 3 months to ween themselves off with minor side effects. Anyway i quit and had horrible side effects and now in some situations i dont know how to handle a lot of emotions that i simply suppressed in early life because lexapro seemed to make me feel like nothing was wrong but it was more just jaded feeling. My advice is there are more avanues than i think many people are willing to pursue to stay healthy emotionally. We're force fed from news anchors about depression and mental illnessess and we see drugs advertised that help these illnessess and fail to realize that talking to people, finding a hobby or something you can always do no matter what, and exercise can really help lift peoples moods. Even a change of scenery. Moving somewhere you want to be, changing careers etc. |

thanks for the advice. although idk whether or not to take them. i mean i got ocd and i fucking hate it. it relates to depression (either leads to or is side effect of) and i also have a bit of social anxiety and germ-a phobia, and cannabis helps (from my recreational use) but in CT theres no MMJ laws and my parents just dont understand. im looking for an answer, im going to CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) for my ocd (the main problem of my anxiety disorders) but im told medicine and CBT work best then just simply one, plus CBT rarely helps but its a step in the right direction (hopefully) . and without cannabis im looking to try pharms rather than waiting till college. but now im hearing its really that bad.
sorry for my rant but the fact the these SSRIs are likely to fail im feeling pretty hopeless of the situation. |

yeah sometimes im alot in "BLAHBLAH" land if that makes sense...my emotions arent there as much ...but i can tolerate talking to strangers ect and i get the annoying thoughts "ANXIETY" out of my head
zoloft has its pros but it has it cons... |

Either way i think you'll be ok to smoke and probably wont notice much difference if any at all in your high while on one of these prescription meds verse while off. |

well im going to my psych in like 5 min so i think ill give pharms a try cause i cant smokin daily b/c my rents as a treatment, but on occasion i will so it good to know it wont effect the high.
helpful thread imo. |

Just remember do not be afraid to ask as many questions as possible. This is your mental, physical, and emotional health youre dealing with so no question is out of bounds and no question is dumb. Remember, during the first 30 days youre on the meds its crucial to watch your behavior/mood. The fact that youre in a place where you arent able to smoke everyday all day is probably a good thing as weed can be a depressant, so its probably wise to not smoke too often. Remember though everyone is different and reacts differently. |

yep all our body chemistry is different. although it sucks no doc will give you their opinion of medicinal cannabis in a state with no MM laws. o well i got prescribed to Zoloft so hopefully that works. tho i know ill smoke when in college and on occasion till then.

hey
3rd day on zoloft and I get a pretty bad tight/pain feeling in the chest when smoking. also anxiety thoughts, but im pretty experienced with weed so overcome them, but its definetely in the way. tight chest is one of the side effects so I think weed might be enchancing it. hopefully it'll go over, 'cause i love the ganja! |

yep my 2nd day on Zoloft and have yet to see a change. curious tho how many mgs you guys take a day?
