BubbleFunker, in some ways you're right... there is no written documents that state that marijuana will cause schizophrenia or any other mental disorder. what I'm saying is that it is a RISK FACTOR meaning if you abuse it and you have a family history, there is a good likelyhood you will develop a disorder. This is what happened in my case. My only sources are multiple psychiatrists, pyscho-pharmacologists, and psychologists and Mass General Hospital and Harvard's Psychiatric Hospital called McLean hospital. I don't get my information from reading or anything, just personal experience... that's all I can say. I love to smoke weed, I am in no way condemning it, I just want other people like me to know what's out there, and if you can, grow your own shit because its better like that. If it helps him, it helps him. If it doesn't, it doesn't. The effects of cannabis is what a person makes of it. It varies greatly from person to person, regardless of what their condition is.

Talk him in to getting a new strain with high CBN (I think it is) the full-body high type for him when he is manic, and a upbeat-type strain for when he is depressed. I have Bi-polar but it's usually controlled with meds, when i'm out of meds, my dealer keeps two strains for me. I don't have a medical card, nor is medical even availible here, but they seem to work for me.

CBD is a wonderful molecule. It is non psycoative (doesn't make you feel high), yet it has significant analgesic properties (relaxation, pain relief). Strains high in CBD are hard to find, my dispensary caries a great one called Affie, the mother of LA confidential. Affie is really fucking rare, so im very happy to have it. I use affie to study, fact I just smoked some because i am studying right now . It calms and relaxes me, without clouding my thoughts and making me feel high. The calming aspect lets me concentrate really well, and i get less side tracked when studying. If bi-polar disorder is like I think, mainly a thought process problem, I do think high CBD strains would work, although in LOW doses, if you smoke too much you feel high, then very sedated, it still contains an amount of THC. Ask your dispensary about CBD and strains that carry it, hopefully they're knowledgable. Also keep in mind like I said, low doses. This could be problematic if your brother smokes weed with the goal of getting high. Low doses provide the most beneficial aspects of the medication, with the least amount of negative or debilitating side effects. For studying I take 1 or 2 hits of affie, and my tolerance is high, and its fucking really well grown: Affie ![]() ![]()

It's all case by case, when it comes to any medication. Not everyone can take aspirin, right?

Marijuana has shown promise as a possible glaucoma treatment in numerous published studies. In controlled studies at UCLA, it was discovered that patients smoking marijuana experienced, on average, a 30% drop in eye pressure. The reduction was dose related and lasted 4 to 5 hours. Dr. Robert Hepler, principal investigator in the UCLA study, concluded that cannabis may be more useful than conventional medications and may reduce eye pressure in a way that conventional medications do not, thus making marijuana a potential additive to the glaucoma patient's regimen of available medication. Tolerance to conventional medications is a common problem in glaucoma control. The use of marijuana for additional IOP reduction could eliminate the need for surgical intervention. Glaucoma surgery costs Americans an estimated $8.8 million per year. Scientists have been working to develop a marijuana eyedrop for several years. Until recently, they concentrated on delta-9-THC, marijuana's psychoactive ingredient. Some researchers, however, have begun to wonder if other constituents in the cannabis plant might be more effective in reducing IOP. This theory is bolstered by the few glaucoma patients who have continued, legal access to marijuana. In these cases, synthetic THC is only effective for a short period of time. Natural marijuana, however, consistently lowers IOP.

i think that is somthing that mt be evaluated on a case by case bases. Not that i dont think their are many positives. I have a friend who is bi-polar, you could hardl tell he has it if hes smokin every day but if deprived the bi-polernis kicks in double time

http://forum.grasscity.com/general/1...ml#post1755314 It can trigger it if you already have the disease, but it does not cause it. I have bi-polar and manic-depression, and smoking weed throughout the day keeps me level. If I smoke too much or too little I'm not a pleasant person to be around... Basically, ya just gotta find the amount that's right for you. If you have schitzophrenia, then you shouldn't smoke weed, really.
