Finally..legal after 33 years!

In February 1973, I had a major stroke. 100% paralysis & loss of feeling, along with vision & hearing loss. I was 19. Damage to the motor area left me with permanent tremors left hand/arm, and I only recovered 80% feeling/vision/hearing. Of course, I "was" left handed. Over a 2 year period I tried 3 types of drugs, the doctors hand out, to control the tremors & help with residual paralysis and they didn't work, nor could I see myself spending the rest of my life taking pills. After a couple years of this, I smoked some pot and the difference was amazing. So much so that my friends noticed over the next couple of days. Ha, it's this simple and no doctors...that was all it took for me! Now, I am 54 and have been smoking pot almost every day since I was 21.

What has it done for me? It controls the tremors & balance issues so much that I have walked through life as a "normal" person. I've raised two beautiful children, neither of whom do drugs or drink (of this I am 100% certain!) I have excelled in my jobs, and
just got a recent promotion. Instead of your tax dollars supporting me...I pay taxes! It's kept me off the state and federal disability/housing/food programs. It gives me the
focus I need to be right-handed, and the emotional stability to deal with my physical
problems for soooooooooooooo many years!! Yeah, stroke at any age sucks, but 19 years old is just plain wrong. Over the years, I stopped for long periods several times, i.e. 2 years while pregnant & nursing 2 children. My kids, now 20 (today in fact) and 15, do not drink or do drugs (100% positive on this, they have been raised to understand & respect the medical & recreational qualities of pot.) Lived in Nevada for 18 months with no connect, that was harsh. Came close to standing on a street corner with a "Will Work for Pot" sign!

Last November I finally got my OMMP card. It took this long because I simply stopped
going to doctors for the stroke years and years ago. In October I was able to see a grow site & help harvest. I made a doctors appointment the next day! I got hooked up with a great provider & we turned my garage into a greenhouse. Veg & bloom room made out of styrofoam, plastic & duck tape. I've got my 18/6 going with clones from 14 different varieties. I harvested Big Bang last week, Purple Urkle gets harvested today. It is so sweet to smoke my own medicine. Medicine I didn't have to buy illegally or at $50 an eighth! 33 years of buying black market pot, and today I'll smoke my first "legal" bud, how sweet is that?? I love Oregon!

Man, that must be a great feeling. I know if it were legal for me, a lot of worries would be down the drain. I'd be carefree.

Well congratulations. Glad to hear youve invested in your own grow room.
How much total bud....weitght have you acumilated.
And is the growing hard for you? Meaning......do you find growing bud to be a complicated process.

hehe, yeah....Because of the stroke, and not knowing why it happened, my doctor wouldn't let me go through labor so I got to pick the birthday from a range of 7 days. Didn't know about 4/20 twenty years ago, so I guess you could say my "date choice" was a stroke of luck

Ironically, my daughter is allergic to pot....when she was 18 she smoked it and ended up in ER with a 220 heart rate. We found that she had a fixable problem with her heart, took care of that, but when she tried smoking pot again, it made her sick.

I am really proud of the grow room we built It's 10.9 x 12.10, we used 18 sheets of
styro insulation sheets, 2 rolls of plastic sheeting, and 6-10 rolls of duct & aluminum tape.
Intake & exhaust fans in both rooms, and a radio

This is the bloom room side, on lights 12 hours:

This is inside bloom room

Veg Room, lights on 18 hours:

Inside veg:

I have a 1000 MH coming on the 28th for my veg room. Also growing for an 80 year old patient with cancer. Since these photos were taken I've got all the plastic covered with mylar and/or aluminum tape in both rooms. I also added a 1000 HPS to the bloom room.

Gardening is one of my passions, so caring for my babies is a labor of love and there was a lot to learn. My provider/mentor grows for quality vs. quantity, and I am blooming smaller plants now to get myself set up to harvest 1 a week. I'll probably end up with an ounce of the Purple Urkle, the Big Bang that was cured/ready to smoke on 4/20 gave me about a half ounce. Because the quality is so high, I am smoking/vaping much less than before. I am happy with that, it's enough for me and I am also giving some to my neighbor. He lost his leg a long time ago, but ended up with flesh eating disease along with a host of other problems. Everything they have goes to medicine, doctors, etc. His wife has health issues as well & both on disability/retired. They thought I was selling drugs or had lots of boy toys because of the unusual traffic (20+ years younger guys-provider/mentor/friends) coming over helping me put this together, so I had to go over and explain that "no, I am not having sex with or selling drugs to these guys. I have been smoking pot for my stroke problems for 35 years and I finally got my ommp card." I almost fell out of my chair when she asked if I could help her husband get a card. They
just don't have any money to get the license or voterpower/s.o.a.m. doctor to sign off. Hopefully his doctor will sign the thing & if not, after a couple paydays I should be able to get him hooked up.

made her sick how? same as the first time or just dizzy/stomach sick? Your room looks awesome, +rep for sounding like an actual adult that can smoke but still can be serious and you wouldn't really know they toked up, I could never seen adults in their mid 40's and 50's smoking, but your story gives me a good visual

hoooooooooooly shit, 220bpm???
holy crap. that really sucks. i got up to 156 once, and that was unbearable - vision loss and total panic.. i pray never to experience that again, can't imagine what 64bpm more would feel like.
but anyhow, congrats on the new harvest.

Depends on size i think. I can get up to like 184 while doing some cardio.

It's so great that you live in a state where you can grow mj and it LEGAL! You are living the dream.

Hahahaha..you would be surprised at how many over 40 people are in the closet. I have friends who's kids are all late teens and they still hide it from them. For the most part, it is because we want our kids to get through high school straight. Being an adult is really hard, in fact it sucks, at 40-50+ we've learned this from experience. What our parents told us about life was true. Sadly, we don't realize this until we get there and its too late. It's also very hard to tell your kids.."hey don't do drugs, drinking & pot is bad for you", then go out for a drive to smoke a bowl! Even with my kids it was a " I can, you can't" thing. I started smoking pot for fun when I was 15, turned into a pothead and I was failing at school. I quit for 2 months when I turned 16, then realized the pot was making me a dumb ass, gave it up, and went back to school & got all A & B's. Then at 19, my illness ruined my future, instead of college after I graduated..I spent the next 4 years teaching myself how to write with my right hand, and learning how to walk, talk, eat, etc. So yeah, lots of adults smoke pot, we just do it in an "adult" manner so our kids & employers don't know!!!

Do you know where your parents really are on those quick trips to the market????
