Arrested in NYC- a chemo patients question.

Alright, I was recently arrested in NYC for having a quarter ounce on me. I am currently undergoing chemo for a local recurrence of melanoma and have been using marijuana to help combat the side effects. I have not spoken to anyone yet, and was wondering if anyone had a similar experience or any knowledge on if this could help me at all. Thanks for any help!

well in new york medical marijuana isn't legal. but since you only had a quarter on you, assuming this was your first offense and you weren't smoking it in public, then you will have a $100 fine.

Yes I did receive a $100 fine, do you think I can fight it? I'm broke, no medical insurance.

I'd say cut your losses and pay the fine, I doubt it would be worth your time and money to fight such a small fine. I know you said you're broke, but it's not tough to rustle up $100.

In N.Y...When u go 2 court 2 pay a fine u must have at least 25% of the fine or the judge Will lock u up.....so When u go make sure u have $25.00 and tell the judge u need more time.....Worst case senerio...the judge Will not have compassion because u possessed $30.00 Worth of Weed or more if it Was dank but he Will say ," recall" and change judgement to $25.00 fine and give u 100 hrs community service.....but if u do not go 2 court u Will get a Warrent....and if u go Without money he might give u 72 hrs or 1 Week jail time

That's horrible, you have fucking cancer, and look what they are doing. It truly is disgusting. You shouldn't even have to pay that fine.
