Anyone Familiar With Maine Med MJ laws?

Greetings All!
Good to be back on a forum. Used to be somewhat active on OG , before they were shut down. Anyway, I have recently moved to the great state of maine, from the northwest. I am interested in any information or help someone can provide about the Medical laws in Maine. I have read the bill many times and feel i understand it, but doubt I qualify under current standards.
I am in no way, terminally sick or ill, and am fairly young at 23. I do have some chronic problems, such as a cyst on my face that has failed to be successfully removed after 3 surgeries, it is near where my jaws connect, and gives me pretty constant pain any time my mouth opens, which causes me not to eat much food due two chewing, i get a lot of nutrition through supplements/shakes. I also have a bad shoulder from weight training, and cracked ribs from skiing. The only way I can stay in a good function mood, is with the help of cannabis. I really cannot afford any more attempts of surgery because the scaring on my face has damaged my self confidence enough, and proven not effective, thus far.

Like I said, I have read the laws, but am still unclear if I qualify, and how to really go about seeking advice, so I come to the open arms of Grass City for help. I do have fears, such as being discriminated because of my age, being encouraged to take opiates to ease pain (every past experience with painkillers post surgery has caused depression and bad moods). Also I fear my past cannabis use 4 years on and off recreational/self medicating use, would classify me as drug seeking behavior.
any help would much appreciated.

well, i am somewhat new to the state, and not real familiar with exactly which conditions apply in Maine. I've read the laws, but I am not much for legal writing. I don't want to be the ass that is taking away medicine from people in worse health than mine. Although I personally know MJ to be a great help in my physical problems, and I am just looking to legally grow safe access to it, I do not have health insurance and each doctor visit takes time and money out of my life. I just want to make sure I am not wasting my time/money if the laws in Maine are really strict. Thanks for your advice, but I try not to BS whenever possible.
