california medical card question

Hey i was just curious if anyone knows the requirements for getting into clubs in the bay area (oaksterdam/SF/Hayward)...i've read that all that's needed is a dr. recommendation which im getting today, but i also know there are some clubs which have a selective members group. any help is much appreciated

I havn't been to Oaskterdam or Hayward but I have been to San Fransico and it should be cool.

Just walk up to the door, show your papers and they might make you register to a computer database for the store though.

But with your papers you should have no problem getting in.

Some clubs won't let you in with just paperwork cause it's too easy to fake paperwork. To avoid running into problems I strongly suggest getting your ocbc card out in oakland for $20, with the card you can get into every club in California. More and more clubs arent letting people in with just paperwork, that doesnt mean there arent a bunch that won't let you in but if you really wanna shop around for the best deals and quality i suggest spending the extra $20 to get the ocbc card.

OCBC is the Oakland Cannabis Buyer's Co-Op. They tried to be a club but aren't they just give cards. OCBC cards will get you into clubs but that's about it. Show it to some cops and they might laugh in your face. Your best bet is to hope your county has established a MMJ card system. Luckily mine has but I had to schedule my appointment over a month in advance so plan ahead!

Oh btw, some great clubs that will let you in with just a rec:

PCC in Berkeley
Dragonfly in Richmond/SF
LPC in Hayward

Sadly most counties havent started issuing their own cards. San Diego county is actually sueing California to get rid of medical marijuana laws just so they dont have to issue county cards.

Paying $20 for your card is much better than just the rec. Cops will usually honor a card over just your rec any day of the week cause with a rec anyone with a printer can make a fake one. The cards are harder to fake and they also have a 24hour hotline cops can call to verify it's legit.

Hopefully more counties start issuing their own cards like they are suppose to. They probally won't though so in the meantime ocbc is the way to go.

It depends on he cop/city. I would rather have my rec on me getting caught then just an OCBC. CHP is now required to honor STATE CARDS ONLY. That doesn't go for OCBC or Medicann you just have to hope the cop is compassionate and doesn't take your meds.

recommendation went fine, i got my certificate and no problem with just the dr letter. Although im not 18 so i gotta go with my dad, which isnt a problem

For sure, I'm not saying toss your rec out when you get a card. You should always have a copy of your rec at your house, in your car, and in your wallet. This doesnt mean you shouldn't get a card though. If a cop confronts you after normal buisness hours they have no way to verify your rec is legit and can detain you until they can verify it. With a card there is a 24 hr hotline specifically set up for law enforcement to use.


You should also keep other things in your car such as the actual text of prop 215 and any other legal text that shows cops should be upholding medical marijauan laws and not ignoring them. As kigy said though it really depends on the cop and the city, if the cops want to they can still fuck with you. In california though you will very rarely be arrested unless its involving alot of marijuana or a dui, they can however still be assholes and take your medicine cause they know most people wont go through the hassle of going to court to get it back or be compinsated if its destroyed.

basicly bring doctors info stating that you have some problems like insomia anorexia chronic pain etc. to a doctor that works in co-op with a legit club. i found most places charge $120 in kali for a card bud then you should be straight. once you get it dont worry about cops jackn you. a buddy of mine was drivin up to SB and got caught with 8lbs and all he did is show up to the station the next day and pick it up
