I've had horrid problems with prednisone in the past, including a peptic ulcer .

I am currently on a much lower dose, tapering over six weeks starting at 40mgs'. I'm on day three of the second week @ 30 currently. I want my sleep!

I feel you I've been tapering from 40mg by 5 mg every 2 weeks due to vasculitis. ughhh. On day 7 ish of 15 mg a day, so tempted to just stop taking them, I know that's not a good idea though :(

I once stopped taking the 5mg's on the last week and suffered pretty mild fevers and general atrophy, not recommended.

Even though the side effects really are horrid, it's a miracle drug. I wish I still qualified for Remicade. I'm going to go setup an appointment for CICP here in Colorado, so I can hopefully get that for free! Granted my system will still accept it after the vast amount of time I've been with out.

I've got Chron's...
No luck with any medication yet, 72.4% pure THC oil is working wonders at the moment..
That and my picky diet I feel is helping me manage it a little better..
I haven't had Chron's that long I got it from using the drug Accutane, you know those law suits you see on commercials?
I'm getting a piece..
I feel sorry for anyone with Chrons not living in a medical mj state, it makes things much easier.

Good luck on finding some medication, outside of marijuana of course, that will help you on the course to remission. It's a long list of trail and error drugs, but I am confidant you will find a long term solution!

Word. I'm a Crohn's patient living in Australia and Medical Marijuana is something that is a daily thing for me if possible. Here's some of my story, sorry for the long post.

Let's start with Prednisone, I will never in my life, take that drug again. I'm not a small guy, I'm 6'2 and I weigh about 100kg. Now when I took the Prednisone, the whole 3 weeks I was on it my fridge was completely empty of anything that was edible in my eyes, I put on about 20kg's and didn't even feel that great apart from the painful stomach aches being gone, SHORT TERM. Prednisone for me wasn't a long term solution, the doctors told me that it was only to remove the pain and what not in the short term while my Imuran(Immune Surpressant) took affect.

Onto the Imuran now, in my honest opinion I do not think this is a solution for Crohn's patients, don't get me wrong Imuran does work to an extent, I noticed a change after a month(Doctor mentioned it would take this long to take effect) and I noticed I was feeling a lot better until my Crohn's hit me again. Now this was the point where my Doctor tried to get me back on prednisone to counter the Crohn's while the Imuran tried to do it's work with a higher dose. I simply told him I'd rather put up with going to the bathroom every 5 minutes and the stomach cramps as I was not going to go back to the mood I was in while on prednisone, not only that but the whole apetite increase is just not my thing, I've been trying to lose weight for a good 3 years now and while I'm on that horrible drug it's impossible in every sense of the word.

Well, it's been 2 years now since I've started smoking Marijuana and I will admit that I never thought it'd help with my condition. I started off smoking for fun, something to do, I found out that Marijuana was medicine for me when I had a Crohn's flare up. I'm not exactly sure how it happened, all I remember is that I smoked up one day when I was having stomach cramps and what not and about an hour later it hit me that I hadn't had any pain at all since I had smoked up. Ever since then I've been smoking Marijuana to help with the pain and get on with my daily life.

Please note, Marijuana helps my Crohn's to a certain extent. I still have issues related to Crohn's that Marijuana does not help with, such as throwing up on occasion, I can't eat certain foods and I cannot drink Coke/Pepsi or anything related or it comes back up almost instantly. I've talked to my doctor about this and he assures me it's Crohn's related although when I take hits of green(I spin my Marijuana with Tobacco, it's how I first got into smoking it's all I knew and I can't afford to smoke just green at this time) I sometimes cough a lung up, end up throwing up whatever I've eaten earlier. Not sure what this means or if it's related to anything at all just though I'd mention this and hope other Crohn's patients can shed some light or tell me if this has ever happened to them.

I can't smoke Marijuana every day or as often as I'd like to so I'm stuck with stomach cramps and waking up in the bathroom each morning I don't have Marijuana but that's fine, when I have Marijuana I can enjoy my pain free days and get on with life.

It upsets me that Australia is so behind the times and Medical Marijuana won't be here for at least 5 more years, we'd be lucky if it even happened in the next 10. Until that happens I'm stuck buying Marijuana from dealers who have no idea who grew it, what strain it is or where it came from. My dream for Australia right now is to have a program like in California, so that Crohn's and people with other conditions that Marijuana help, can get Marijuana that has been confirmed as either Indica, Sativa and whether or not it's good for pain relief.

There's my story cut down and how I live with Crohn's. I've read this back 2 times and changed a few things, I'm never happy when I write multiple paragraphs so please excuse the bad grammar, spelling and anything that doesn't make sense.

Greetings Yama!

Sorry to hear the lack of success with prednisone. Imuran is a harsh one as well =(.

I started smoking pot in quite the same fashion.. hanging out with friends and it wasn't until after a month or two I really started to notice the difference in my symtopms. It was never a direct 'cure' but honsetly it worked better and faster than any of the pain meds.

No more than necessary honestly. I can't smoke weed like I used to when I was younger. The shit you can get from a dispensary is unbelievably potent.

So my Grandfather just found out his UC got worse, still trying to get him to try the herb, nothing is working for him. He's back on Prednisone now (he claims it never bothered him but I remember him saying how horrible it was) Remicade infusions have done NOTHING for him. Hes supposed to go back for a higher infusion dose soon.
