Hey guys. Talked to a buddy of mine for the first time in a while and checked out his grow.

After talking for a while, he told me that he had a clone growing some great bud but he was sad that after he chops it, it'll be gone. I told him to clone it again, but he said that just takes too long and he wants to speed up his harvests.

When I got home, I glanced at my orange tree and remembered that it had been grafted. Is grafting with marijuana plants possible? He could take a clone sized clipping and graft it onto a stump of an old plant, but has anyone actually done it? Would it produce buds with characteristics of both plants, similar to grafting an orange branch to a lemon tree? Would the plant take, and bud? Would it hermi?

I believe what you are suggesting is quite feasible, MJ is no different than any other semi hardwood plant, as per grape vines, current bushes, or hop plants, I know the hop has been grafted, and if you ever want a fruit tree in your garden ...you can bet the plant has been grafted....no big deal..just follow the orchardist

hypothetically ..if you get an organ transplant from a person with say red hair do you start to grow red hair? no you don't. same with cannabis.. or most any other grafted plant ..THEY DO NOT TRADE GENETIC MATERIAL..only pollination creates an exchange of DNA.

also this has been done and talked about ad nauseam ( the consensus is that grafting is useless ) ..so learn to use the search options please
If you got time to "bump", you got time to "hump".... use the search function.

Practically ...if you take the 'said clone sized clipping' and graft it to the sump of an old male or female MJ,plant, the clone will develop into a fully fledge MJ plant, thats how they do the common rose plants these days ..lol
True these two plant bits wont 'trade' their genetics but the relationship will be
symbiotic, as in 2 conscious beings living together each living of each other, by memory it takes about as long for these two to get established as it takes to grow a clone so theirs not much in it really, better of making clones... takes me 7 - 10 days.

...and would it herm?....only if you mess with the light levels, keep it on 18/6 for 2-3 months

Lmao. Forgot the whole, "pollination," part. The whole point of him grafting would be to keep the plant without having to keep it alive, so to speak, so pollination is a need-to.

As for grafting being useless, I beg to differ. It depends on the application and situation. And just because I don't do something doesn't mean I don't know how. Sorry I ruffled your feathers. Maybe you just shouldn't post if you don't want to see this again? Kinda defeats the purpose if you post the answer then suggest a search.
