| Re: How To Keep Your Bong Clean
i use salt mixed with a little bit of nail polish remover. swish that around everywhere to get the "chunks" off. At that point your bong will look super clean however, once you add water everyone knows about that annoying fog that appears soon after the first sesh; completely pulling a buzz-killington. So after the nail polish remover and salt i give it a nice mix with some tap water and dish washer soap to give it a professional brand new shine.

Never had this problem. I have a glass bong which always looks clear. I just poor in cooking water and let it sit for a while. Then rinse it and maybe use a pipe cleaner (rag???). Grtz $iR

I have a question. I have a really tiny sherlock mini bubbler, that I fill up with maybe a tablespoon of water. The little fucker also likes to get really dirty after smoke sessions, so I was wondering - could I maybe buy those little lemon juice dropper bottles from a grocery store (that people use on fish and such) and add a drop to my bubbler water to get this same effect? Anyone think it would work? Thanks |

I don't like the after taste and how long should I leave it with alcohol/salt in 30-45 minutes to let it eat all the resin off. Some reason I can never get it 100% clean.

I like to use 91% rubbing alcohol and Cascade (the beady, powder kind). The Cascade acts as an abrasive since it doesn't seem to be very soluble in water. When you're done shaking the piece, pour the alcohol out and put some warm water in the piece. The cascade will now turn into more of a soap and just rinse it out a few times with more warm water. It really gets rid of the alcohol smell and the glass will be super clean

Sorry if this is a repost, I didn't read all the way through this. I've been doing the same thing for a few months now. If you get bored or tired of lemon juice, try lime! Also seems to work great and gives a different after taste.

I haven't read thru the pages to see what other users have replied (laziness, and I'm sorry) but I wanted to add my two cents (again, sorry if it's redundant): First, I love the analogy with the gourmet food and dirty dinner plates - spot on brother! I'm definitely one of those anal-retentive smokers when it comes to clean pieces each and every time - usually my smoking habits have me cleaning my bubbler (that I'm currently using regularly) once or twice daily. So, yes, it's cool to have me in your group because I actually enjoy spending time with them, cleaning them and seeing that fresh look, and also admiring the colors or possibly the new addition of colors. ![]() Now, on to the lemon juice. I can't say I'm a big fan of additives in the bong water. For one thing, I'm not a chemist, and I don't know exactly how that additive is reacting with the THC molecules and if their actually bonding to them resulting in a less potent smoke. With H2O, I know the THC is not water-soluble, therefore it's all coming up into my lungs. Lemon juice is a natural cleaning agent but here's my analogy: it's like putting bong water in your dish detergent. Even though you have lemon juice in there, that water is disgusting. I'm sure you could run a flush and it would be all good, but I'm not sure if it's something I trust to have my bong truly clean the way I like it (with 99% ISO and Epsom). Furthermore, the lemon juice does nothing for the resin buildup in the downstem/s and inside the bowl. My suggestion - stick with the tried and true ISO and Epsom.
