i was thinking of getting some of these strips from orient lighting to use as a grow light.
Orient Lighting | SMD 1210 Super Bright Adjustable Flexible Strip
about 9 strips of 27 in. strips running parallel to each other would put it at about 25000 lux i believe.
what does everyone think is there any easier/ cheaper/ better alternative?
it would be about 85 dollars i believe for the strips

Prolly wont do much if anything its 25 watts and theres a billion LEDs on it so the watt per LED is ultra low. Cant hurt though but better places to spend 85 bucks. You would probably be better off buying some high quality nutes instead and get bigger bud from that vice that .

the lumen output for each led is 9 i was thinking if i would run a power splitter i could get 25 watts for each strip and i was gonna get them cut in 70 cm increments. correct me if im wrong.
and the adjustable color spectrum is well within the spectrum for veg. growth and fruiting.

Lumens do not really matter in terms of LEDs. All Lumens are is a measure of brightness in terms of how a human eye percieves it. Its why most lights are now on the PAR measure. PAR is the Photosynthetically Active Radiation. In short the range that plants are able to absorb light at. THe higher the par the better the light. Those little strips have a minimal PAR reading.

how would this differ from a led grow light in terms of PAR?
It would be nonexistant because of the low wattage. Not everthing sold actually does anything and I doubt that would help a grow at all you would be better off buying some grow supplements.

even if i could get 25 watts to each individual 70cm strip with a power splitter? that would be 225watts. still too little wattage?
