Legalize MMJ in Florida state??? :)

I came across the website: http://www.PUFMM.org (people united for medical marijuana) which is currently trying to gain 700,000 signatures for a petition to get MMJ as an ammendment to be voted on in 2010...

read more about it at the website; i'm just trying to do my part to get this thing rolling anyone else who lives in florida SIGN THE PETITION - weed isn't just going to get legalized, we need to push for legalization one step at a time; let's start with legalizing MMJ!

Thoughts on this website/project?

There is about 15,000,000 in florida if i remember correctly so I don't think 700,000 sig's will be too hard to gather, what does GC think?

The voters in this state will more than likely NEVER pass a MMJ law. The number of those who feel that marijuana is the DEVIL WEED is just too much.

The State Congress could theoretically pass a bill on their own, but that's highly unlikely as well. The only way we'll see MMJ in Florida is on a city or county level, and that's sketchy, because nobody wants to deal with state police.

Bottom line: Until there are federal guidelines for MMJ or even decriminalization on a federal level, don't expect Florida to do you any favors. Hell, even after all that.

Fogeys need to hurry up and jump on the bandwagon.

Well, There's tons of people that would sign in the Merritt Island area 321 tons of stoners. a TON of my friends parents smoke lol.

I think you're underestimating the huge city populations( which are insanely diverse) in Miami, Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa, Gainesville, Jax and even Tally. I'm fairly certain if we started making a push, we out number the old fogies and hardcore conservatives. I mean it's worth a shot.

the issue in florida is the north end of the state. most counties up here are very very red. il admit im a repub. on certain issues, but like chris rock said anyone who makes up their mind before hearing the issue is a damn fool. the north part of the state still managed to be red in the 2008 election which had record democratic turnout.

I wish Florida would pass an MMJ bill. However, we have the strictest marijuana laws in the country, so I don't see that happening anytime soon.
