Drug Testing in the workplace

I believe that drug testing in the workplace is a violation of my constitutional rights. I do not believe anyone should have the right to violate my biological materials for any purpose whatsoever.. Once the sample leaves my possession it could be used for the purpose of determining health issues, DNA imprinting, cloning, or other purposes against my will. Abuse of sacred bodily materials can lead to discrimination in hiring, denial of health coverage, firings at will, and other human rights violations.

It's a nice thought but really it isn't a violation of your constitutional rights because nobody is forcing you to apply to those jobs. Private companies get to make their own rules and if you don't like it then you don't have to apply. Sad but true.

Now drug testing in schools, that may be closer to a violation since everyone has to go to school(not everyone can be home schooled).

Thank you for your reply, and your point is well taken, (indeed it saddens me) but I would also mention that my point about alternate uses for the biological materials could be a violation of our rights with regard to information about health status or genetic propensities. I think the practice should be banned on the grounds of right to privacy. I am not very knowledable on the breadth or intent of the constitution on this matter, but I believe it should be addressed because the potential for abuse is very high.

I agree with you on the issue of school testing.

Why would it be their buisness what you do on your personal time. If your a good worker then your a good worker, it shouldn't matter what you do on your free time as long as you don't waste your employers time.
