We've already gone through this once before with alcohol; which obviously didn't turn out so well. Ever heard of a little ol criminal by the name of Al Capone? He and many other criminals thrived from prohibition. Why do they think that most growers and dealers want to keep it illegal? Because they make more money off of it! The black market that is produced by prohibition creates violence and criminals; the same violence and criminals that the people in government claim are the cause of the drugs. If only they realized it was due to the prohibition not drugs. True, they will tax the shit out of it, there is no getting away from that but it will still be cheaper than now.

Plus, if you're worried about companies taking over and adding chemicals, you can always still buy from whoever you're buying from now if they still grow/slang OR you could always grow your own.
And, I am sure there will be a strong representation from the Organic industry in this area. You will be able to get pot much less expensive, likely have much better choice, and help pave roads while toking up.

Well things are getting better i'd say. as of last monday feds can't legally do anything about growers or patients obiding by laws in MMJ states. its cool and all... but it should all just be legal anyway so its still a work in progress.

hi all, i'm all for legalizing mj.it's and excellent resoure.did you know if you get caught growing 5 or plants in the state of missouri you get charged with manufacturing and face 18 years in prison.yet there is baby rapers living everywhere free.castrate them sick fuckers and free the weed. i feel everyone needs to start a major grow for theirselves and see what the government does.they can't arrest us all.such a great medicene/textile/renewable resourse of biofuel, paper wood fiber just to name off a few.the drug companies would go belly up.along with doctors, lawyers, even hospitals would suffer cause people would have the abillity to heal themselves.so sad but true.peace on and pow grot.

This isn't groundbreaking news or anything. It's a great step in the right direction, though.

Washington State introduced H.B. 1177 in order to make possession of 40 grams or less a class 2 civil infraction (lower than a misdemeanor). If you have any shred of intellegence, you'd know that 40g= 1.42oz.

It's still active. No news as of yet, but follow along with the news at that link I posted.

Going by the fact that there hasn't been any activity in the House since January, and the Senate killed their version of the bill, I'd say it's dead this session.

The legislators behind it are going to reintroduce it next session.

And decriminalizing fewer than 40 grams is still a good amount, especially since right now any amount greater than zero grams is criminal.

Update . . . the guy who tried to organize this rebellion almost had everyone on board and ready to Rise Up, but when the time came to fight the fight, someone lit up a blunt, and in a very unfortunate coincidental timing, Ben & Jerry's had their Free Ice Cream Day, so nothing got done. But, everyone had a good time.

So correct me if i am wrong but Decriminalization means that it will still be illegal but less people will go to jail for it?

Yes. It'll go from being a crime where you can be incarcerated to being like a traffic violation, where you get a ticket. Usually decrim only refers to possession so if you're caught selling or growing it's still pretty ugly.
