Yes, we've seen it all before. Online quizzes, newspaper surveys, scientific estimates, even state-level referendums.

    BUT CHECK THIS OUT:

http://change.gov/page/content/openforquestions [GOVERNMENT WEBSITE] - Be sure to use the Search feature to vote on as many marijuana/cannabis-related questions as you like.

Here is the entire composition of Grasscity threads regarding Change.gov, President-Elect Obama's website where anyone can register with a name and e-mail, and in return be allowed to post and vote on user-generated topics on changing any aspect of government policy. Nothing appears to be censored, and there is even a ranking system for determining which topics are most relevant among users based on votes. The results are separated into policy areas. The Legalization of Medical and Recreational Use of Marijuana is the currently leading topic on the entire website.

Because Change.gov is a part of Obama's administration, this is a true opportunity to connect with your next President (the next person in George W. Bush's position, for emphasis). I hope that you will not overlook the potential for change that comes with an Internet-level message board between the people and the government of the U.S.

As ReformMaryJaneLaws stressed in the initial thread, it is important to keep your comments on Change.gov MATURE. The reputation of the marijuana-using community could be damaged by immature or provoking posts. BE CONSIDERATE but honest about your feelings.

    woops. Didn't see the sticky before I made a near identical thread that is now closed. To continue the discussion of that thread;

amsterdamage pointed out that there are a number of marijuana related questions, not just the one. There are currently 65 questions. Search marijuana in the search bar and go for it! There are a lot of people voting against, but predictably, we are the majority right now, so let's keep the momentum going!

Also, I would suggest voting on the already existing questions rather than asking your own. More vote tallies on fewer posts will get more attention and there are already 65 question that range from decrim, legalization, medicinal, industrial hemp, etc. Good hunting!

P.S. Also search using the more "proper" cannabis. There are more questions.

  4. You should sticky this on ALL forums!

By the way, everyone should go to page 2. There is a marijuana question that is gaining popularity FAST! Lets get this issue heard and out there.

"Will you consider legalizing marijuana so that the government can regulate it, tax it, put age limits on it, and create millions of new jobs and create a billion dollar industry right here in the U.S.?"

    Vote on it!

  5. I Voted!!

  6. Excellent work, you guys. Has anyone PMed a Mod about Stickying it to all the forums yet?

  7. I'm on it. Sending PM's to all mods abut it. lol. But I have to wait 3 minutes between each PM. gonna take a while...

  8. Done...

  9. UPDATE

Just wanted to share this with you:

    http://change.gov/newsroom/entry/open_for_questions_comes_to_a_close_at_1200_am/

This is your new administration. They want you to administrate as well. :)

  10. basically everyone who wants to smoke pot is smoking it anyway. haha, i mean why not legalize

  11. Big test of government honesty, imho.

  12. right now:

    Change.org

    "Top Rated Ideas"

    1. Legalize the medicinal and recreational use of marijuana

its pretty cool to see that at number 1... but not gonna lie, either something is wrong with our country or that website if that is the number one voted on issue...

although i am pretty glad about it

  13. Its a big issue... not just because of the right to smoke pot. 20 million people have been arrested for it, almost 900,000 last year alone. almost 50 billion is spent a year on its enforcement. the hundreds of billions of profit from its sale are going to the hands of violent cartels inside and outside this country. Children can get it more readily than alcohol because there is no regulation. Government agencies have been constructed who are legally allowed to lie to us, which they do so quite frequently. independent commissions as well as commissions created by past presidents have recommended no criminal penalties for a large amount, yet these reports have been ignored.

In my mind, marijuana prohibition is single most representative issue about everything that is wrong with our government. Not about the weed itself. Lying to the American public, arrest and siezure laws giving police funding so that they are no longer as dependant on their populous they serve, entrapment issues form undercover police as well as other civil rights violations, wastful spending, international pressure from us threatening embargo nd such, kids getting drugs they should not have contact with, violent cartels setting up shop in almost every neighborhood in America, deprivation of the persuit of life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness, .... need I go on? I don't consider marijuana prohibion a drug issue; I consider it a human issue. And with current policy, the human factor gets last place below looking tough on crime for political favor and the ease of doing business as usual, meanwhile everyhting else is circling the drain.

  14. count my vote. I can't wait to see the results of this tonight, or I guess tomorrow...

  15. Again, THIS IS NOT CHANGE.GOV - OBAMA'S WEBSITE.

  16. I noticed tonight Legalization of Cannabis is still the top rated in the questions, but is there anything in the agenda so far for Cannabis?

  17. Well, the Obama team has not begun to address the questions yet, but I'm sure they will soon enough. They can't ignore the issue now. Keep your fingers crossed.

  18. Trust me they are. I guess only time will tell...
