They have something very similair in boulder... lots of cops there but no one ever gets arrested.

that would be an excellent way for cops to test out the latest technology in crowd control. so in my opinion, this is a really bad idea. this might have been a good idea back before all this new technology... but all this will achieve is buzz kill in the highest form :/

You my friend are exactly why we as a counterculture spin our wheels. You'd rather smoke for today and not give a shit while people are out there dying of diseases that could be getting high and dealing with their day to day lives. Both man, why is it we always decide on someone gets more and someone gets less. Animals deserve to be treated fairly, but as far as "profoundly retarded" people they always deserve rights in this world. My aunt is mentally handicapped and i think she deserves every right i deserve. life is too short to start prioritizing groups of people, everyone deserves an equal right

The Toronto Marijuana March is like this. Thousands of people gather in Queen's Park which is a major park near City Hall, light up, jam, and just generally chill out until there's a march through downtown. There's some speakers and stuff too. Marc Emery was there before and said something I loved. I'm very loosely paraphrasing, but it was something like: "Here we are in the thousands smoking marijuana. Imagine a similar event, with thousands of people drinking alcohol. It would be a violent, sloppy mess. Or thousands of self-loathing, miserable chain smokers."

Cops are there but they're just making sure nothing goes wrong. I know there's events like this elsewhere, and ya, it's Canada so it's definitely more lenient. But if you want that kind of experience, come up next year. It's quite the experience.
