How do I become an Activist for the Anti-Prohibition movement

Contact your congressmen and representatives, donate some to the causes (such as NORML), all these little things are good to do. Anyone who contributes to the cause is an activist! Be heard!

Try to sound like you're a middle-class family man/woman who doesn't use marijuana and doesn't want to use it (ie, you represent "the general public"). Tell them the reasons you oppose the prohibition, these might include the fact that you oppose it on the grounds that it criminalizes people solely because they use marijuana, and that it prevents society from keeping marijuana away from minors, because as you know it's impossible to impose age restrictions on the sale of something that's already illegal.

Also, google the word "marijuana" then hit the 'news' link and sort by date. You'll find a never ending stream of marijuana news. A lot of these sites allow you to post comments. Just get in there and start voicing your opinion. It's great practice for the letters you'll write to your officials!

And go to the DEA and ONDCP sites and read their point of view. When you argue against the prohibition you have to directly address the reasons the DEA and ONDCP support it. These organizations have a profound influence on the decision-making of our lawmakers, so you have to undermine their arguments by revealing where their arguments are weak. You'll actually find some of them are straight-up lies.

Are there any Specific groups I could join in my local area maybe

NORML is pretty much everywhere. If you are a university student, then you could join or found a chapter of either NORML or Students for Sensible Drug Policy.
