i wrote to my rep for washington state and i actually got an email back from her saying she wants to reduce overall drug use so shes opposed and then ended the email by saying "hope everything's well in cheney" which is where i go to college....FUCKING CREEPY! so i replied with totally kick ass email referencing studies and shit saying mj is the shit and totally put it on our governments lack of care for the people. maybe that will change her closed mind. i just thought it was weird she adressed the town i live in when i never mentioned it. my email adress is through my school but that takes reading and thinking and its just weird i thought id be another number saying LEGALIZE when she actually replied to me personally. anyone else get that from their reps?

Didn't really have much to say, besides that it really isn't in the state's power.

Thank you for your email regarding the legalization of marijuana. I appreciate your suggestion and the opportunity to respond with what I hope will be helpful information.

As your State Senator, I work hard on State of Michigan issues important to you. I appreciate your efforts to share your suggestion to legalize the use of marijuana. As I am sure you are aware, last year a group of citizens gathered enough petition signatures in an initiative to put the use of medicinal marijuana directly before voters on the general election ballot. On November 4, 2008, voters approved the ballot initiative and the use of medicinal marijuana is now considered legal within the State of Michigan. For additional information regarding medicinal marijuana, please reference the Department of Community Health’s (DCH) website (http://www.michigan.gov/mdch/0,1607,7-132-27417_51869_52136---,00.html).

That being said, the legalization of marijuana in general is federally outlawed. In fact, should the State of Michigan enact leaner drug regulations, federal policies outlawing drugs would take precedent over Michigan’s laws. Therefore, I encourage you to contact your federal representatives at the phone number, address, and/or email address below as they have direct influence over federal polices.
