I've realized how important legalization is

To the people who say "Legalization is important, but there are a lot of issues that take precedent." Legalization may be the most important issue we face in the world. Why is that? Well, hemp could save the planet, being used for fuel and eliminating greenhouse gases, thus ending global warming. Also, hemp seeds could end world hunger, as they contain all the essential amino and fatty acids necessary for human life. Hemp could end deforestation by providing better housing and paper (in fact, houses made from hemp can withstand hurricanes and earthquakes).

I now look at people who oppose marijuana as evil, and I feel real anger. One drug czar, Carlton Turner, supported the poisoning of marijuana plants, so people who smoked the marijuana would die and be taught a lesson. Another man, Peter McWilliams, was using medicinal marijuana to help with his AIDS and cancer. When the DEA arrested him, his mother put up her house for bail, and the government said they would take her house if Peter ever used marijuana again. They gave him Marinol, but it didn't work half as well as marijuana. Shortly after his medicine was taken away, Peter died what was possibly a quite painful death. There are many other people out there who have not died because of medicinal marijuana, and even more who are dying or have died because they did not have access to it. It makes me so angry, so fucking angry, to see those anti-marijuana ads, which are campaigning against a drug that has never killed anybody but has saved lives. People are literally dying over this, in so many ways... I just want it to end. Fuck the government. FUCK THEM!

That is so true the goverment needs to care less about themselves and car more about the people. Anyone who wants it should be able to smoke weed. How can they tell us that we can't smoke a plant.

You're thinking to deeply man...marijuana is a great plant but it's not going to "save the world" There are far more important things to worry about.

I'm sure I will get a million neg reps for saying that. But people on here need to stop thinking it's a gift from god or something, and it's a "cure for cancer" but the government is behind this big conspiracy so it isn't being used as such.

I love herb as much as the next person but I'm also a very realistic person...I do want it to be legalized but not because I think it's gonna save the planet or something lol. It just isn't as harmful as tobacco or alcohol so it's pointless for it to be illegal in my eyes.

I totally agree man, we all need to write to every member of the house supporting Rep. Frank's bill legalizing marijuana. If we can even get this bill though the house it'll be a huge achievement!!

I feel it's our responsibility to convince the representatives to vote for this bill!

Far more important things to worry about? Is stopping world hunger not important enough? Curing cancer not important enough? Creating a safe, renewable fuel that will replace all fossil fuels not important enough? It's all been proven. As for curing cancer, you should watch the Rick Simpson documentary. He did cure cancer with hemp oil. Smoking marijuana is the least effective means of using it medicinally, but hemp oil is amazing.

There are other things to worry about though, like the world's increasingly depleting water supply. Although, water desalination requires a lot of energy, and hemp for fuel could provide that energy. The uses of marijuana never ends!!

Give me some information from a CREDIBLE source that says legalizing weed will end world hunger, cure cancer, and fix our oil problem k? Until then do a little research, and don't believe everything you hear. These are nothing more then conspiracy theories.

You're one of those people that think 9/11 was a big government conspiracy too right?

In my course of research for The Comprehensive Report on Marijuana, I found all those things. Nowhere did it say marijuana could end world hunger, but it is logical because a lot of seeds are created from marijuana plants, and they are very nutritious, so if the plants were grown around the world for the food then people would not suffer from malnutrition. And since marijuana plants are so strong and can resist harsh conditions, they could grow well basically anywhere. Curing cancer I found from the Rick Simpson documentary, which is backed up by Jack Herer, and Jack Herer wrote about using hemp for fuel. I have done A LOT of research, more than you have. I understand how powerful the hemp plant is and that is why I fight so hard for it. I NEVER said this was a big government conspiracy, I think that the pharmaceutical companies lobby so hard for marijuana to stay illegal because they know it would severely undercut their profits, and I have that backed up by Irvin Rosenfeld! If you try to tell me you know more than Rick Simpson, Jack Herer, and Irvin Rosenfeld, you're just ignorant.

By the way, I don't think 9/11 was a government conspiracy, I don't know why so many people fall for that. Terrorism, people! That's all.

Yeah, 9/11 was a good way to get public opinion supporting "pre-emptive" policies. If someone accepts that, the rest is simple to put together.

Another good example of social mechanics is the camera thing in England. Check this out and then think twice about who gains what when something like that happens.

Anyway, fuck that, most people are so ignorant that they can't see their own ears. :-)

About the plant, the things you say are neither correct nor wrong. Basically you say one thing, that the plant is good for us [almost every one here agrees with that], but the way you present it is just too much [my guess is that almost no one here agrees with that, why ? -Is it really ignorance ? Lack of research? Lack of enlightenment?].

Let me explain why I say this.

You talk about the nutritional value of the seeds. Well, could you perhaps tell me which essential amino and fatty acids (as you say), the plant has ? Please do so by giving some solid reference. Also, present it like you are talking to a guy with the knowledge of a 3rd year old. This could be helpful [no dammit, it won't save the world, but still] for those watching this discussion, because, after we all agree that it does NOT have ALL the essential amino acids and fatty acids human creatures need, we will at least know how those amino/fatty acids are called and maybe perhaps why it's not cannabis plants we would seek to get them even if their cultivation was legal and contained all of them, anyway.

For me that would be convincing enough. I mean, it would convince me that you are fighting for something, rather than just propagate ideas (just that) that seem to suit your way of living, demanding them to be accepted by the public in general. Well, if you are about to do this, you better be convincing. If you are not, then what and how exactly are you fighting for?

And to avoid any misunderstandings, I am just playing devil's advocate, giving a little twisted perspective. All is well, peace.

The situation with the pharmaceutical corporations is rather unfortunate. I am sure that most of the scientists working in research go into the business wanting to help people in the long run. I know that's what I want to do, if I just wanted to make money, I'd be a doctor instead. Unfortunately, it's those higher up in the corporate ladder that hold all the cards and do the lobbying, damn big business.

As for cancer, cannabinoids seems to be an effective cancer treatment (from a biochemical point of view, supported and evidenced by research) as long as the cancer exhibits the correct receptors. I posted links to some articles in another thread to research showing that in cancers exhibiting cannabinoid receptors, THC not only stopped the cells from reproducing (hallmark of cancer), but also directed them to apoptosis, programmed cell death.
If the cancer does not have CB receptors, then THC appears to stimulate it slightly by unknown means. Still... many cancers do show these CB receptors so it definitely a good thing.

Listen, there's one of these arguments in every thread 9.11 is brought up, relax, we're here to discuss hemp.

1 acre of hemp over a 20 year period will produce as much fiber as 4 acres of trees over the same period of time. Hemp seed oil contains most of the daily amino acids that we need and usually get through meat.

Well we're the future, why can't we make a stand? Like, why sit in the back and quietly hate this country? Why can't we learn to love it and fight for what we think is right?
I know smoking a blunt in the middle of a busy city street is dumb, but there's no reason to fight for the right to say what you think is right or wrong.
That's something that's supposedly very beautiful about democracy: it's our government. If we want something, we should fight for it.

Below is something that I posted in another thread that I feel is sort of fitting here also. I wont argue about the health benefits of marijuana on cancer because I'm not a scientist and I only know what I've heard. I can tell you from personal experience that it has been a wonder drug for my Lyme Disease. You also can't deny the positive economical impact it could have on societies like the US if it were legal. If nothing else marijuana legalization could save our society from destroying itself with economic recession and irrational drugs laws that ruin lives. Is that saving the world? I don't know but it certainly is a good start if you ask me.

Production of hemp oil could reduce our dependency on foreign oil, and as mentioned we would save billions by not having to arrest and incarcerate non-violent marijuana offenders, the taxation on MJ sold for recreational use at both the state and national level . . . . . The list goes on and on, those are just a handful of ways marijuana can bring us out of a recession. I'm not even going to get into the positive environmental benefits. It's just like our pal Jack Herrer says "marijuana can save world."
