Grasscity Responsible Smokers!

Allright.

I was walking down the road this fine morning and came at an impass which is why you are hearing what I am writing now. There was this group of friends walking around taking hits of a blunt by the movie theatre. Now, i'm all for trying to make a public smoke.. But they were being so bloody obvious about it.. They were verbally talking out loud of how high they were.. And expected NOT to get caught. Needless to say, they were in a squad car by the end of 7 AM.. Not to mention they were all under 18. (So says the little birdy)

It is this kind of behavior that is going to keep us from full fledged legalisation.. A bunch of people walking around, acting like fools, with marijuana in their system. Not cool guys. We have to be able to show the public that we CAN enjoy this herb without imposing on others.

We must not bring a bad name to our culture and our way of life by imposing on other's lives. I am NOT saying anyone here does that, and if they do I have no idea about it. But try and avoid public areas unless you have a med card.. If you are to smoke in public, try to keep it as secret as possible.. If the government sees that legalisation will just put a bunch of kids in their streets acting like fools.. Where is that going to take us?

i hear what you are saying.

it sends a bad message when 5 or 6 8th graders or freshman get really stoned from the dime they rolled into the blunt wrap they paid a hobo to buy and they stumble around the town smoking it.

it's like rubbing it in people's faces. it only attracts more negative attention to smoking.

Well from what I've seen, all these kids want is to do something that they've been ordered not to do since a very young age. It's basically the fact that theyre not supposed to do it.. That makes them want to do it.

I know.. I remember back to my 7th and 8h grade days.. There were only a select *very select* group of kids * all guys* who would smoke.. And everyone looked at them like a bunch of drug addicts.. I didnt think much of it at the time because I didnt smoke until 9th grade.. And as we all know, in high school.. Pretty much everyone was doing it.

But in high school you can rarely find a mature smoker.. So you cant enjoy your habit teh same way a responsible adult would.. No, you have to stumble around town smoking shit out of a joint with tobacco in it and get busted, arrested, drug tested and put under house arrest. Brilliant.

MaryJane will never be decriminalized if people don't represent themselves well while under her influence. I don't get the whole acting-like-a-fool thing while high, anyway. I don't get how people become violent and full of hate, either. Weed just doesn't do that. That's why when I see some of the posts around here that are disrespectful, immature and filled with hate, I look at the posters as non-stoners because the true stoners that I know are chill people.

I know exactly what you are saying. I am 24, and I have my own place, in a nice community, and my neighbors dont need to know that I smoke weed(besides my next door neighbor who smokes with me sometimes). I prefer to smoke by myself most times, but when I have people over to smoke, and we are outside in my garage, or on my deck( I dont smoke in my house), they like to make it known to the world that they are high, or "really fucking fucked up man", as if anyone cared. It draws attention to you, bad attention, especially at 2 or 3 am. It may just be me, but I find more and more people these days smoke weed to just to say they did it. There are so many at the City that are like me, smoke, and still live out normal succesful lives. My GF does it, and a few of my close friends, but there are so many people now that give us smokers a bad name. Like the ones you mentioned, and the others. The people who do nothing other than smoke all day, and it takes three of them several hours to get enough money to call someone to deliver them a $10 dollar bag of weed, because they dont have jobs, or transportation, yet they are all over 18. These types of people make smoking weed look like it ruins lives. And the casual everyday smoker that gains personal happiness from smoking, the people like me, and most on here at the City. The people with good jobs, homes, cars, and especially rich, fulfilling lives. We get compared to the lazy, uncreative, worthless stoners who dont work, and would rather just do nothing but smoke, and then do nothing even more. We get compared to them when we mention that we smoke. "weed is terrible". "weed is a gateway drug". "everyone who smokes weed is a lazy good for nothing punk", etc. We have all heard these things in our lives as smokers. They are not correct, just very very broad generalizations, that I laugh at. But these generalizations and the behavior of those who you mentioned who like to do what is at this time illegal in public places knowing how easily they could get caught, these are what make sweet, helpful, peaceful Mary Jane look so terrible.

I smoke everyday, as do a majority of you, and I am happy with my life, and I work, and I pay for everything with the money I earned from working everyday. So I say if you are going to go around making weed look bad, you should at least wear a t-shirt saying "I smoke Marijuana, but its not the reason I am a fucking lazy good for nothing prick."

END RANT.

Sorry guys, I am enjoying some of what Mary Jane has to offer right now on this sweet Friday, and felt the need to write a short story or something.

Well, it's all in your mindset with weed, RMJL. If you approach any drug with a bad attitude, including weed.. It will eventually turn itself on you. You need to have a peaceful mindset and be yourself when using weed.. Thing is, if yourself means you are an angry, bitter eprson.. Weed may just turn itself on you.

So funny yet so true. The "normal" citizens look at these people and they say "look what marijuana did to that kid. i bet he could have been real sucesful if he hadn't gotten into drugs" but they never stop to think that maybe the kid just doesnt know how to handel himself with marijuana. I'm not saying smoking every day multiple times a day is a bad thing, but its not for everyone. I know that if i were to smoke every day, it'd probably mess up my life, and i wouldn't be able to work or do well in school if i did. Some people can, but i have an addictive personality, and i'm generally a lazy person, so i dont smoke every day. But there are plenty of people who can smoke every day and function perfectly in society. Its all about knowing yourself and knowing how to do this kinda stuff responsabily. Only you know how much you should be smoking, and people like this are obviously smoking to much for their own good. Then people think that its marijuanas fault. Its not marijuana's fault that they have no self control. Its not heroin, your body's not gonna get sick if you dont have it. If you cant function while your high, dont get high so much! its a s simple as that. If you can, then great! your lucky. But just because there are people who can smoke all the time and function doesnt mean EVERYONE can smoke all day and function. Responsible smoking. Responsable drug use. If you follow these practices, you'll live a long, happy life.

you bring up a great point. way ive seen it:

there are those who get high for a reason-medical, mind exploration, homeostasis

and those who dont- its the "thing" to do. their favorite artists use the substance. cleque....its cool. of course, we might start here, and build up an understanding for what cannabis really does.

i think one of my first sigs here was: "support responsible smoking"..maybe ill put that up again.

if your going to break the law, have a reason for it. not just to break the law.

I think if pot was legalized we should have an age restriction on it like smoking cig's or drinking alcohol.. Yes this still will bring kids to wanting to do it but how about we have a hefty fine (like the ones where i live!) for buying for minor's. I mean yes i know baby steps but if we ever did get it legalized and we had some say in the laws of marijuanna do you think that would be a good idea? And deffinately no sales tax =X cause that would just be stupid...
