Smile New guy from Norway

Long time reader, first time poster.
Anyhow it feels good to finally post something for once.
A little about me,

I'm 20 years old, I work with computers, mostly (Ubuntu) Linux and open source free software.
When off work I play the guitar and sing when I have the time. I don't smoke that much, usually 1-2 times a month. I find it better that way, since I never build any form for tolerance so to speak, and I get blown away pretty much every time.

I lived about 7 years in Sunnyvale, California before moving back to Norway again. My family moved there since my father got a job there. Moved back also because of family issues.

Anyways, I consider myself a respectable "stoner" I really don't like calling myself a stoner, pretty much because here in Norway a stoner is considered a drug addict. It's pretty strict here around, not that many people smoke, but there are more and more each year.. Thank god.

I really like keeping myself fit, enjoy going to the gym lifting weights and I've also picked up skateboarding. :P Looks foolish but who cares.. I suck at it, but it's fun and you get a nice work out.

I've got a huge interest for American cars, I've got a 87 Chevy Monte Carlo SS myself, white one with bench seat in front. Going to swap a 350 tpi into it some time.. hopefully soon.

I love my job, helping teachers, students with their computers, administrating *nix servers and switches. It's an ok job with ok pay. I really wish the plant was legalized here in Norway sometime. I hate being a criminal.
I just prefer Cannabis over Alcohol, I haven't had a drink in two months.

Last year my ex broke up with me, I was a bit sad about it, although I was happy to be single and free. so I drank a lot.. nuff said. I'm so happy I quit drinking. I enjoy a beer now and then but nothing more.

Almost all my friends "know" I smoke, at least some what.. I dunno really what they know. I honestly don't care that much. My best friend has decided to stop smoking weed,(he smoked 1-2 times a month.. almost every time with me). He just feels it's not just right for him at the time. (He get's a bad hangover from cannabis he says.. lasts 3-5 days.) wtf. I always feel fine. :P Well, it's his choice!

I have never tried any other drugs than alcohol, cannabis and tobacco, and I've kept it this way for years.

Happy smoking

En norrman! Welcome to the city.

I know what you mean now that I have been in Finland for awhile. It's just not something mentioned. However, excessive drinking is commonplace and normal
Good to see some scandinavians around. Where in Norway, if you don't mind me asking?

I am studying abroad this year. I came in August 2007 and I am supposed to return to the US at the end of May. I am the first from my home university to study here, so I really had little idea what to expect... but I do not think for an instant that I made the wrong decision. I have, by far, experienced the best year of my life - met a lot of great people, made some excellent friends, and many interesting stories. And I have also been reacquainted with how much I enjoy learning new languages. I study at Åbo Akademi (the Swedish language university in Finland) so I have learned a lot of Swedish and quite a bit of Finnish (crazy language!) as well. I use both languages every day and I love it!

Yeah Swedish and Norwegian are quite similar in many ways... When I see written Norwegian I can understand some. I am going to Denmark next week, so that will leave Norway as the last Scandinavian country to visit. I hope I get the chance to before I have to go back stateside!

Indeed it would be. If I go to Norway I guess I would *most likely* go to Oslo... if it weren't for the fear that it will siphon away all my money in the blink of an eye!

Re: New guy from Norway

Nice a Norwegian! I'm not norwegian but am living in Norway. I've been here for about a month now, so far the country has treated me well. I'm also new to grass city, which seems like a cool place with cool people.
