Hi. I said I'd do a journal on this grow so here we go:

This was inspired by Anti's kickass dual 400w cmh cab over at IC. Disco! Disco!

Here's what she looks like tonite, 4 days into 12/12:

I recently remodded this cab. It used to have a led panel on each side and a few cfls in the middle. I used it mostly for veg for a larger room that I had. I decided to make it into a flowering cabinet with the dual 150w hps's and a single 63w led panel in the middle (63w hgl penetrator) I built it out of a unique dresser that I got at a thrift store...I don't have any pics of it before I gutted it and stuff, but here's a crappy pic of what it used to look like...this is from about 2 years ago:

Here's another pic which shows the upper area that holds the electrical stuffs:

The150w's are run by a dual 150w galaxy digital ballast. Cooling and filtering is run by a panasonic whisper fan with a tray style carbon filter...this is the only fan currently besides the ones built into the top of the LED panel...I'll eventually add a pc fan or 2 for circulation inside. Intake air comes from the holes in the floor in the middle and the black louvered intakes on the bottom left and right...these are 'scrubninja' styled light traps. As you can see I added some drainage trays...(added a lower one not pictured above) umm..not sure what else to say on the design stuffs...if anyone has questions ask away.

Plants and strains- as I mentioned, I'm 4 days into 12/12. All the larger plants in the taller containers are photo strains...a variety of GDP, White Russian, superskunk, nycd, and maybe one or 2 others....mostly gdp and WR though. Also in there are a bunch of sour60 autos which are about 2 and 1/2 weeks old. I've been weeding out males and transplanting females to the larger (mt38) treepots as I spot them. I started with 40 S60 seeds and got 40/40 :hello: so far I have 24 females and there's still 3 left that haven't showed. Most males showed between 14-16 days and the females have all showed in a 3 day span from day 16-19. There's also a few other random autos in there...a nyld and a purple jem or 2.

Whew! not sure what else to say atm. I'll leave you all with a few shots of my gdp to wet your appetites :smoke:

Please pull up a chair, I'm very excited for this run...I have a good feeling about it ;)

--- I'll try to update often, and answer whatever Q's you guys got. ----

thanks for following along :)

smurfyBH - I'm trying to keep the taller plants on the top row...having the tops so high from the light level should help to reduce stretch a little. The WR is probably the stretchiest in there, most of which have been topped. You'll also be glad to know that I marked starting heights on all pots at the flip :) ..got about 2-3 inches of stretch so far on the bigger plants.

So you have the autos under 12/12? It looks like you used to have it compartmentalized but now it's all one big chamber.. I vaguely recall you knocking the wall out?

Are you just handwatering with some kind of watering can and it drains to waste? Every time I think about how easy Coco is I can't figure out how to get rid of the waste nutes in my setup. I love the "stadium" type setup. After reading the Dr Budgreengenes thread I am super tempted to run a microscrog with CFLs to see if it's replicateable. Your setup is almost that.

Why do I get the feeling that your house has some crazy other grows going on and we never get to hear about those :D :D

Btw Subbed.

yep, autos have been under 18/6 for about 2 1/2 weeks...and they're now into 12/12. Autos should produce far better under a longer light cycle, but I've done them like this in 12/12 and they turn out great as well. The goal was to fill it up with only photo strains but I couldn't get that many clones at once so I supplemented with autos since I had a ton of seeds. ..and yep, I knocked out hte dividing walls so it's all one chamber now.

For now I'm handwatering...I pull em all out and put about 12oz in each (soaked) I let em drain fer a few then they go back in the cab. I need to tie the trays into a drain pan or something so that I can just make a little watering wand or something...maybe just a trigger style sprayer that's gravity fed from above. I know for sure that once these things start to get sticky I won't be pulling them out of the cab to water, so I'll have it figured out by then. ( I end up tossing tons of runoff, but I feel it's worth it)

The Dr's methods are easily replicated...maybe not up to his level of grams per watt, but high density micro sog is a really easy way to maximize yields out of a small area.

Why do I get the feeling that your house has some crazy other grows going on and we never get to hear about those

lol bro, a few months ago you would have been right but I have a few of my micro cabs shut down currently awaiting remodel and new projects. I do have a vertical 2k room though that is a little camera shy ;)

ahaha kidding, but would be awesome to see a few snaps.

I saw one on youtube that was like 2400w 4x600W hid. Impressive shit!
Cant wait to i get my tent, just another week or 2. I would like to build myself something nice later on. Food for thought i guess.

Thanks for joining in guys, I'll do my best to keep ya entertained.

I find myself waiting for the lights to come on so I can open it up and check on em...it's been a while since I've done that. :D

did a little work tonite: (wtfever spellcheck I'll spell tonite however I want!!)

used a candle to heat the pvc a little then poked a hole through for a drain. I threw my pyrex pans under there for now till I find a plastic showbox er something. I might add a little water pump or something to drain it...as microgrower420 suggested. Oh yeh and I added those rail thingies to tighten up the pots....I don't want em falling over later when they get topheavy.

...a few clones will probably hit the ceiling tomorrow. but it's cool, I have a plan or something I think  :smoke:

I cant change my language to Eng( aust ) so its set on ENG( US ) and i always have spelling mistakes. kinda annoys me ahhaa, but really. we must be backwards or something ( i hope not! )... ahhaha

so much of a difference between the 2 its not funny.

 welcome aboard mcdogboy.

well the first leaf touched the ceiling today...

Posted Image

....looks like the closest growth tip is about 3" away still. Seems like the top row really hasn't stretched much at all in the last few days. I was expecting the vertical bulb to reduce stretch a little when the plants get above the level of the bulb...but this is more then I expected. I have about 10days left of stretch though so we'll see what happens. Things are looking great overall and I think it will fill out really nice. I'm not worried about it overgrowing the cab anymore...a few clones are big and branchy, but there will be plenty of room.

here's a shot of a few plantlets:

Posted Image

GDP, SS , WR :smoke: the WR has been topped...actually most of the WR got topped cuz they were a little ahead of the other clones in the beginning of cloning.

The autos have all shown now and been transplanted ( did I say that already?) so I got 40/40 sprouted and 27/40 females! I'm pretty happy with that :hello: oh and the single purple jem and a nyld turned out female too! whoo-hooo! :metal:

Thanks tr33z :) Vert is the way to go!

10 days into 12/12 now. Here's a shot right before lights on last nite:

Posted Image

looks like there's still about 2" clearance between the tallest plants and ceiling. I Think only a few plants are gonna hit the ceiling after all...and that will mostly just be bud growth. :hello: the auto are at about 3 weeks now btw.

Temps are dropping to about 63 during lights out...I'd rather have it around 70. They're still doing great but I'm doing what I can to raise it a little. Humidity has been around 20-25% and lights on temps are about 78-82 :smoke:

Yo bong, I just put my journal up. Come give my girls a look when you get a chance and tell me what you think. Might pick your brain about the vert a little too :)
