Think's 600w DWC White Widow Attic Grow

Well guys i have been away from here for quite some time now. I have missed you all and am now back in the game. I had some issues come up that prevented me from starting up again. The original box had to be torn down because of some of those issues. And that has spawned a new box....... Here we go!

I decided to remake the box with a less permanent design. I took 1/2" pvc piping and made my frame with it. I then purchased a roll of 100'x10' black/white poly to make the walls. I have fallen in love with this stuff now. I used 2 pieces that I cut to overlap a lot. I left it the full 10" tall so that it would lay over the top and allow me to seal it w/o making any cuts. Sealing that was a mother fucking pain in the ass but once finished it worked out amazingly well and doesnt look near as bad as i thought it would. I also used metal tape to seal the entire box on the inside. Then used 4 layers of 5 mil clear poly to waterproof the bottom of the box. I used 2" thick extremely heavy duty velcro to seal the flaps of the black/white poly to form my doors. This shit is awesome!

That is what makes the box. Now for the venting I purchased 2 6" inlets with the sticky side on them and one 8". The 2 6" vents were used to form the exhaust vent and the 8" was used for the intake. I increased the intake this time to help with airflow. I also have an 8" T and a flapper to restrict airflow. The T is installed into the 8" ducting that is going to my living room. I put the flapper on the left part of the T before the box intake. This allows me to shut off the air coming from the central heat/ac system or just limit it if needed. And it will allow the box to pull directly from the living room if the flapper is closed. No more pulling from the attic. This will also allow me to let some cool air in during the summer to help keep the box cool when the temps spike.

I am going to need either an 8" booster fan or another main in-line fan to keep from having so much vacuum as it is pulling the sides of the box in so much. But that is something that can currently wait.

I also bought some more 8" insulated ducting to allow me to re-rout the ducting in the attic to give me more room to move around the box. I have pictures showing how much room I gave myself by doing this. Really glad to have that out of my way.

I want to give HUGE thanks to a fellow member of GC for making what I am growing possible. I was lucky enough to be given 4 fully rooted White Widow clones ready to drop in. If this member wishes to reveal who they are then
that is up to them. But THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! I was also given a mother plant that was no longer needed by said person of Carmelicious. This will come in handy later on when I want something new to grow. Hell I may even fire up my mini fridge and get some samples from it.

Well with all that said I have the system up and running. I also bought a new Hannah pH/Temp/PPM meter. Extremely happy to have this now. I am running at about 230 ppms with 6.8-6.9 pH. Nutes are listed below.

I am using Holands Secret nute system. I am following the label this time. I have 3 of their additives. They are all upstairs atm so I will get their names when I go up next. I am going to be doing an experiment with this grow. Since I am growing all 4 of the same plants with 2 separate systems I will be testing a bloom enhancer and see how it turns out. I am very interested to see what the results will be. I am not sure which additive I will be using but it will either be Bloombastic or SnowStorm Ultra. Ideas/thoughts?

Anyways everyone that is the basic rundown of what I am doing now. As always I am open to any and all questions/feedback. I will be working on pictures in a minute. The site isnt wanting to let me upload them for some reason.

My goal for this grow is 1 pound. I am certain that I can meet/surpass this goal but I am just shooting for that.

I also had to remake the screen. I used the same pvp pieces from before just had to re-string it.

SO I'm runnign a similar setup and ahve a few questions....

Are you just running the buckets individualy without a res or with a res?!

I'm just trying to find out how you have your plumbing ran :-)

Look at the #4 grow in my sig. I dont think I got pics of it now. I have 4 plants and 6 buckets. There are 2 separate systems. 1 res bucket for each system in the middle that will allow me to to do any and all adjustments needed throughout growing. They are connected at the bottom with 1/2" tubing. I am using Rumps bucket design.

I'm along for the ride!

Yea I just gave the mum some water just a few min ago. She was freshly transplanted so it will take a day or 2 to sprint back but it shouldnt take long.

I'll be watching this one as well, as those plants you got there look an awful lot like mine. . . heh heh I'm sure you're going to knock this one out of the park. That box rebuild looks great and I'm sure it will work better than before.

Well I just finished my checks for the night. I need to calibrate my pH meter but I will have to do that later as I do not have the time atm. The clones are very perky and have all started growing roots extremely fast. Each plant already has quite a few poking through the baskets.

Btw I am currently at 76* in the box at 30% RH. The lids I used for my buckets are pre-formed lids for 5 gallon buckets that I picked up at my local grow shop. I freaking love these things already! They will keep the light out and stop my plants from falling through. Deff worth the investment. Anyways I am short on time tonight and will be back with more details as soon as I have the time.

Hey Thinkie Think!! Took me a minute but I'm on board now homie!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks a bunch guys!!! I just did some changes and have pictures to upload. I will be posting a complete update later tonight so keep an eye out for more details. I raised the PPM to about 535-540 and the pH is setting at 7.5. The water temps on the far system are 68-70* and the closer system is at 70-73*. I am going to get a couple fans soon as soon as I can muster up the extra funds as I am very broke right now. But the box temps are holding at 75-77* air temp. Things seem to be moving along smoothly. So far today it was about 80* outside with full sun and the highest it got to was 77*. I am very very excited about this now!!!!! I think I may have a completely stable attic system. We will see when the heat of summer gets here but I have a few tricks up my sleeves to counteract summer. So give it your best shot summer!!!!!

Just a little bit longer till my full update. Doing some cleaning atm. Just finished making the mother chamber that is in another closet in the house. It is well away from the other plants in case something happens to my main plants it will not affect the mother plants. =) hehehe. Im really excited about this grow guys. The plants have almost tripled in size and the root growth is awesome.

Well here it is. Didn't have to wait as long as I was expecting to update. Like I just stated I have fully built the mother chamber. The pictures of the mother chamber on in this post. It is a 2"x2"x2" box. I put 2 cross members in in as I didnt have the correct connectors at the time so I was able to work it a bit differently than planned that worked out really well. I wrapped it entirely in one sheet and left enough hang over to wrap it like a gift. Then used a scrap piece of poly to make the top and a lip in the back. I used velcro to attach the door and allow for it to open up. I still need to install a fan but that will help with the ventilation and I am still trying to figure out how that is going to work out so for now the light is off for the night.

I do have the mother plant in there and will be taking care of her tomorrow as we have run short on time and have people coming over and must clean up. She will be ok. Her pH is off and I need to give her a shot of nutes. I have a line of nutrients designed for mother plants that were free from my local grow shop that I will be feeding my mums. I am going to take a few clones of this plant to chop it down then flower her out in my mini-fridge. That grow will be run my my room mate with my supervision for suggestions and help. He should be creating an account on here very soon with his own journal.

Without further hold up here are the pictures of the construction of the mother chamber. In one of the pictures you can see the mother plant in there.

Now for the update on the main grow. The plants are doing extremely well. As i stated earlier I pumped up the nutes for about 2 days to see how they take to it. I will be changing to water after this and then setting them on veg nutes based on how they take to the higher levels.

I set the ppm of the front system to about 535 ppm and the back system to about 545 ppm. The pH of both systems is 6.70-6.75. The temp of the back system is 68-70* and the front one is 70-73* I need a few circulating fans and unfortunately I am broke as shit atm. So going to have to find a way to scrounge up 50 or so bucks to get fans.

The rear system plants are a bit smaller than the front. I am not sure why atm but I was hoping to set the front system to 500ppm but over shot it a little bit. Just trying to get used to using a ppm meter and how strong the nutes are. Oh well it will all be good. Im not worried about anything atm.

The air temps of the box fluctuates between 72-71* with when the AC is running and 76-78* when it is off. So freaking perfect to me. the RH is 45-50% right now. I may need to get a dehumidifier for flowering with a controller along with a temperature dependent air speed controller so it will automatically control the temps. I am so ecstatic with how everything is going so far! I know it is really early to be saying anything yet but if this will keep up I think things will work out extremely well and I will be able to harvest more than my initial goal. The only thing I am leery of is that damn brown algae slime shit. Mech got it with GH nutes. We will just see how this grow goes. If I start seeing signs of it I will go buy some Physan 20 to immediately combat the shit and knock it out. Maybe start out with a bit of 35% H2O2 that I can get from my local grow shop as a preventative measure. I think it would be really good to do that. Opinions?

The roots are growing very fast and completely white for now. Just hope it stays that way. Each plant has 20+ root spots coming from the basket. I will get pictures of those tomorrow for you guys. I don't even think that they grew this fast last time so I'm very excited.

Anyways I think I am done for now. Thank you all for following this journal as well. I am hoping for great things with this grow and hope that I can show you all an amazing journal. This is going to be one hell of a ride. Cant wait for these 3 months to be over with. I am hoping to learn a lot from this.
