Hi all,

first time grower and a new member. even though ive been using alot of the site over the years.

but any ways back to it.

my grow space wont be huge. i have a cabinet that is around 5 feet tall 1.5 feet wide and and 3 feet long basically a medium grow nothing over 4-5 plants as its strictly medical for my fiance. her card, but my build haha.

As for light i have a 400w hps(possibly) and 100w= cfls, will probably buy a mh for flowering when it happens. But im leaning towards an all cfl grow so cfl tips will be greatly appreciated!

so if anyone can take the time to help its always appreciated.

My setup as of 09/14/2010

mylars installed now, and plant is lovin it.

lets hope this bagseed is decent!

ill be transplanting to a 2 gal pot when the 3rd set of true leaves come in.

if i had a better camera i could show you the wierd amount of leaves it has

in the initial phase i had no idea what i was doing.

but its going amazing now.

a good 2 cm of stem growth and 4 new leaves in 2 days.

just waiting for em to get bigger!

Hey buddy, the wee little nipper (lol) is lookin really well so far!
CFLs are an excellent way to grow and is really energy efficient too. I've been using 8 23w CFLs like Weed420today and the growth during the vegetative stage has been brilliant. Try and get 6500k (cool white) CFLs for the seedling and vegetative stage as they emit a more blue spectrum wavelength of light, then you can move on to 2400k CFLs (warm white) when you decide to start flowering.
I also noticed that you may have a 400w HPS at hand too, that will work amazingly when you decide to flip the plant on 12/12 for flowering. However, it will get pretty warm in there so you will need to invest in some fans.

Fingers crossed that this isn't a boy

god i hope its not a boy haha.

but yea i have both lights already bought,

and the 400w i was gonna get turned out to be way to effing big,

so when it comes to flower time im gonna get a 150w mh/hps and still run the 2500ks on the bottom of the plant.

im getting two exhaust fans today and maybe an intake but we will see how it goes.

transplant day is either tomorow or the next!

got my inline duct fan, and man im happy.

its so nice, its 80 cfm and dead silent.

its got nice suction and i wired it nicely, for a noob haha.

im going to install it tomorrow as im headed to the sisters to smoke some vape.

and im lazy haha.

just gotta figure out how to make it light secure. but when i add the filter i bet it will be light tight.

everythings installed!

duct fan is running a bit more vibrationy then i wanted. but its still bareable to sleep with it in the room.

its keeping a constant 83 in the day and 80 ish at night

its got 3 lights on it now, 2 6500ks and 1 2600k

its growth is remarkable. shows how a constant environment helps growth.

the pictures attached are from yesterday.

ill be getting some more tomorrow.

and will be buying some veg food in the next week.

Looks like a happy seedling :hello:

Out of curiosity how close do you have your CFLs to it?

it was very close to death at first so i had like 6 6500k cfls like around 5-6"s away and gave it some nutes and it exploded in health in two days.

but now i have 2 6500k 100eqs and one 2500k 100eqs about like two maybe three inches away

Keep going man! Lookin good.

Regarding the light sealing, make absolutely sure - I hear interrupting that dark cycle not only slows down flowering, it can cause hermies!

Hope you can fit inside your cabinet and test (thats what I did to be 100% sure it was lightproof - felt like a jack ass inside there though haha)

when it comes to the dark cycle and such ill make 100% sure its good, its in a dark closet as it is.

So that shouldnt be an issue, right now its air flow, the little duct fan i have blows air out of the hole nicely but the suction is okay i geuss, but id like it to be much more, i may install a roof vent with some pc fans doing around 60+cfm with little carbon scrubbers.

The temperature is getting a bit hot in certain spots as i have no oscillating fan just two high velocity 4 inch fans and they blow very well on the lights to keep them cool, but since i cant put anymore big fans in the space computer fans should work with airflow.

ill have growth pictures up tomorrow.

see lots of new growth in the top hoping he/she will stretch up to the light soon.

I bet many will will suggest otherwise on giving food so early - I say do it in a very small amount and see how they react. If your soil is pretty vanilla you should be ok if you start out lightly (maybe 100ppm or so).

I believe strains react differently to nutes. Your medium also has a lot to do with it. Seems like I cant nuteburn my plants (not sure if its the coco, strain, or nutes) - but they seem to take whatever/whenever I give them.

got the carbon filter made,

but the fan isnt strong enough at all to suck through it.

which is dissapointing.

maybe im using the wrong type of pantyhose to make it.

i got it from a diy here like bohdos i think.

it seems like it should work super good, but i think the fan get soo weak once the filter is on it, and temperatures skyrocket.

but i dont need it yet, and my temps are fine without it. so i may just have to get some more fans for circulation and some computer fans for the top.

and maybe make another exhaust hole with a fan in it.

if i stayed with foxfarm nutes it should react fine to foxfarm soil id assume.

ill buy some veg food tomorrow at the shop.

just gotta work on odor control and temperature.

even though i dont need it yet i just wanna know i have it down.

I would say a larger, more heavy-duty fan might solve your problem. They are out there, but you'll have to spend a little money. I'm getting ready to make a carbon filter, what panty hose did you use? I would think any of them should work. Did you pack your charcoal too tight? That could be a reason too.

As for lowering temps, you can tap into your house's a/c and use it if you have a big enough unit. I live in a 1300 sq ft house, but we have a 50,000 sear unit which is enough to cool a house twice this size.
