Hey GC,

I've finally decided to build myself another grow box. My last one was pretty much a failure and very "out of the ordinary". It was a box made with 1/2" plywood with wires sticking out everywhere. If anyone would have opened my closet, questions would have been asked.

With all that, I needed to make sure this was 100% hidden. The box is quite small, but I should be able to grow 2 plants and yield an ounce or 2. I didn't have batteries for my camera during the build, so I've got pictures of what it looks like as of right now, pretty much done, just disassembled.

I labeled the pics, and you probably won't understand them 100%, but once it's complete in a day or 2 here, you will see and understand :)

I got everything painted tonight as well, so assembly will start in the morning. I should have pics of "pretty much" the finished result tomorrow afternoon.

Could someone please lead me to a post/grow where someone did 12/12 lighting from the beginning? I can't find any with the finished result, and I was to see their plant size/total outcome.

Thanks

I woke up with a migraine so I didn't get started as early as I hoped. I got about 1/2 of the box glued together, and should be finishing up tonight. Pics to come.

In every box I've built, the lights or cords seem to get in the way.. so I'm taking my time on the lighting fixtures, and them should be done in a couple days as well. I am using three 27w CFL's per plant.

Anyone find any finished micro grows?

The box is 95% complete. I've got my list of everything else I need and will be going shopping tonight, I am still working on the light fixtures. One is almost done and one is about half done.

I couldn't find a pot that would fit the box right, so I built my own pots too lol. They are made out of wood, but I plan to line them with plastic or something so the wood doesn't rot and I can re-use them again. Any idea's of what I can use to line them?

Don't mind the speaker wire attached to the "legs". There is a purpose for this, but you'll have to wait and see :D

Here are my plans as of right now. The whole box was designed to fit in a certain space. It is constructed of 1/8" hardboard and 1x1" boards for structure. Everything is glued with Gorilla wood glue and screwed together as well.

The filter is large for the box, I know. It was purchased for a previous box, so I figured I would just use it instead of buying a new one. Centering the filter was kind of a bad idea, just because if I end up with 1 female, I lost all that space for growth. My original "spot" for the box would have required me to lift it quite high, so I wanted the weight distribution to be perfect. Now, it isn't so much as issue.. but the box is done and will work the way it is lol.

I really would have liked to have adjustable lights, but when space is limited.. this is hard to do. I will have to place something under the plants, but that's no big deal. My lights are all attached to my "access panels" on the top, so when tending to the plants, the whole light fixture will be removed. Do you think 3 lights per plant will be enough?

In the center of the bottom of the box, you can see a square panel. That is where the carbon filter will sit, and the panel will be left unglued so I can change charcoal as needed.

Please post comments, suggestions or any questions you have!

I purchased the rest of the items I need, so we're good to go. One more day on the box, and it will be functional. I put 6 seeds into some damp paper towels today (11-15) at about 6 PM, so they should be sprouting soon!

The only thing I couldn't find, which I need eventually, is nutes for flowering. I found some that was 10-15-10, but they are little pellets that you sprinkle on top of the soil. Are these okay, or is liquid a better choice? I am limited to stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Meijer, Walmart ect. Do any stores like that sell organic nutrients with a ratio of about 10-15-10?

Since it will be another month or so until I put them info flowering, would it be a better idea to order some Fox Farms online? And what do I need, Big Bloom?

Also growing in a space that small i think 3 lights will be plenty you can look at my setup i only have 3 100w equivalents growing 3 plants of lowryder... 2 red spectrum and 1 blue spectrum.

Im about to add a 20 watt LED panel that i ordered off of ebay for 30 bucks its multispectrum...

Might wanna think of adding some yourself very low heat for the light they put out

I looked into LED, but from what I read, unless you go with something like UFO lighting, it doesn't work real well. The cheap LEDS just don't put out the recommended light.

Do you have pictures of it? I'd love to check it out either way. How is it working so far?

Another update!

I got the box 99% done now. All I have to do is drill some inlet/vent holes in the bottom, but I might wait until the box is up and running so I can see how my pressure is. Does anyone know how to figure out how inlet sizes for the correct pressure?

The pictures pretty much speak for themselves, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will be bringing the box in tonight and running it for the first time. None of my seeds have popped open yet, so I'm hoping by tonight or tomorrow, I can get them in some soil. How long does it usually take for a root to pop out? On average of course.

My lights will be removed when I have to water or take care of the plants. I think this is also a great safety feature so I don't accidentally get water on the lights lol.

Well here are the pics. I will have another update later tonight when I bring the box in and hook everything up.

That last picture is taken from inside of the box, looking up. I was trying to show the hardboard I cut and put around the filter to try and make it as air tight as I can. I think I will be ok because any "smells" that try to get out of that space should be sucked up by the filter.

This is true but only if your using LED's alone. I have 3 cfl's as a main source of lighting. Im using the LED only to supplement lighting on the bottom of the plant so i can get more light to the lower branches.... altogether great craftsmanship on the box and im excited to see what comes of it my friend

Thanks Sutzm! :D

Only a few more hours until the BEST part of the box is shown! I have been keeping this from you guys until it was done.. so IF anyone is watching this thread, Around 9-10 PM (Eastern Time), I will be revealing the final product.

Here are some more pictures of where I like to hide my things. Tip for anyone out there.. when it comes to smoking or growing, you ALWAYS have to be real creative when hiding your things! Everyone I know respects my privacy, so for someone to come into my room AND into my closet is near a 0% chance. Even with that, I still hide shit super well.

Here is what I made up to actually put the plants in. I will be starting the plants in cut-down solo cups, and transplanting them into these after a week or so (or however long it takes).

I couldn't find a pot that was anywhere near the right size, so I just made my own. It is just hardboard glued together, lined with part of a trash bag. I will drill drainage holes through the plastic and hardboard before filling with soil.

Can anyone tell me if this will work or not, and what problems I may have? I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I figured I would check first.

your "pot" doesn't look big enough, what are the dimentions?
If you are going with 12/12 straight from seed, which works really well actually, then you can just use 2 liter soda bottles. It's what I do, about 2-3 weeks in the solo cup then they go into soda bottles for the rest of thier lives. plus you only need about a 6" square to grow it in. Another plus is that cannabis likes to reach down into the soil so it's better to have a tall pot as opposed to a flatter one.

What are the dimentions of your box?

I thought about making the pots deeper, which I still can, but I've seen grows done in just about everything. The "pot/box" was built to perfectly fit my growing box. I only have about 12" from the bottom of the box to the bottom of the lights, so that's why I went as shallow as I did.

The box is 8"x10"x3". For every inch I add to the depth of the box, I lose one in space for upwards growth.

Here are your pictures. This is why the box is so stealth. I have a few minor things to do, but not much. I have to secure the cords to the bottom of the box so they aren't going everywhere.

Still no taproots on the seeds! I'm hoping the first ones should be popping open tonight while I sleep.

Tell me what ya'll think! :hello::hello::hello:
