MY FIRST BEGGINERS GROW JOURNAL-PICS, I need help from seed to harvest!

this is onslaught 232, I recently this summer decided that I wanted to grow that beautiful thang known as mary jane.
I look at this like my very own project
and i think nothing would be cooler than growin and smokin ur own weed.

I am total noob beginner. I've been reading post from numerous forums on growing, reading books at my local head shop such as jorge cervantes indoor grow journal, and endless information i can find about growing.

However I really need help along this whole process.
I'll first show you my grow setup and what I have.

I wanna keep this grow stealth, and maybe bring it back home when i come back from school to do some more grows over the summer. THis is why I am using a PC grow case. I bought this offline and i think its a good one.

The pc grow case is equipped with:
2 intake fans
2 outake fans
and unjustable screen for LST
4 light sockets that are moveable by a magnent to anywhere on the case walls

Supplies LIst:
Pc grow case
Fox Farm Nutrients- Tiger Bloom, and Grow Big
2700k cfls and 6500k cfls
ONA odor block
x2 1 gallon pot
x2 solo party cups
pH testing strips
Hyrdometer/Thermometer
8 bag seeds


Alright, so being that it is my first grow, I am using bag seeds that I found with some bags of decent chronic. I have started germinating four seeds and have four more extras.
As for germination, I started it last night at 12 am. I took two paper plates, put 2 wet sheets on the bottom, spread the seeds out on the two wet sheets, than put another wet sheet on top, covered it with another paper plate and put that into a tupple ware, where it is sitting in a dark closet.

Okay, so i need to get my soil and everything ready for when these guys start sprouting white tail so I can plant them.

I plan on doing two plants in this grow case which i will LST.

I plan on starting out using solo party cups than move to one gallon pots?
sound good?

How are my supplies? I gotta a great hydroponic store near, so if i need any more goods please let me know.

Basically guys this all i got, this is how far I am. I really need help from here on out. I got the time and money and patience to complete this thing, I really wanna do it right, and just come out with something smokable that ill get somewhat ihigh off of

I would really appreciate any expirienced person that will follow this thread and help me out.

Looks quite nice. So the lights are held on by magnets, that's really sweet! Can they stick to the sides so you can lower it within 4" of the plants?

I'm doing a very similar grow in a homemade case. I'm just doing one plant in soil. It turned out really tiny, but that's okay. Next time I think I'm gonna go with a non-autoflowering variety.

Those pots should be good for LST'ing. I just used tupperware and drilled holes in the bottom and put the top underneath. On my next grow I'm going to do one plant and LST it til it's huuuge. Does light leak out through the fans?

It doesn't look to me like the case is lined with any reflective material. You should pick up some mylar ideally (auto shade covers if you just wanna run to Wal-Mart).

I'm no expert but it looks to me like you're off to a good start, you've got basically everything you need.

Ya lights are on magnenets and I could move as close to the plant as I want. Im using regular seeds and Im trying to do two plants. Doesn't leak through fans but the reflective material stuff sound like a good idea.
Ill grab some of that soon.

thats a pretty sweet loooking case, very clean!

Might want to get some reflective material inside the case though, I think it will help. For me I used the windshield cover but I regret it. The thing is pretty thick and insulates the heat. I will either paint the inside white or use straight mylar next time.

how do i prepare the soil in the party cup?
holes cut in the bottom of the party cup i take it?

Ive only really used the party cups once, I never made holes since I never overwater it at that stage.

Usually I just plant straight into the Pot im going to grow in, just saves me the trouble imo.

In a party cup what I did was make sure the roots are grown in and soil a bit dry, then I just cut down the side of the cup with scissors and pop the block of soil+root and put it in my new pot. I know you can put it upside down and tap on the bottom to get it out but I was afraid it would just explode on me so I cut it. I would feed it water after with some Superthrive.

As for preparing the soil, just fill the cup and water it so its all moist and dark color. If your using soil like miracle grow I would flush it once, but since your using the good stuff FFOF just poke a half inch hole in the middle of the cup with your finger and put the seedling in, and cover the hole loosly with soil. I usually cover the top of the cup after with saran wrap to keep in the moisture and keep it a bit humid because I think at that stage the seedling likes it. Then once they pop up out of the soil I'll take off the saran wrap and keep it 2" from the lights.

ya this is my first time and I wanna do it right.
Alright sungminz you gotta point. So lets say i just start it in my original black 1 gallon pots.
Fill each up with soil.
Before planting it, I water down the soil right, get it all dark and wet.
Than once these babies germ and are good to go ill plant em and put saran wrap over the top.
Light 2" away got it

but
what light schedule and im starting out on? I got this light timer thing and i got tinker with it and get it set to the schedule I want.

you should be doing either 24 hours of light or 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness. if you have heat issues you should do your light cycle during nighttime and dark cycle during the day.

glad to help u out man. its exciting to start these things so i know what your going through.
your case looks awesome.
magnetic lights? thats fucking awesome. very nice idea. What kind of magnets do you have and where did you get them from? I plan on revamping my case as soon as this grow is done.

as far as the lights go. I would use all 5000-6500K lights while your flowering and i would keep the on 24 hrs a day. this will reduce stretching and keep your shit bushy. your only gonna want to veg for 3 weeks or so. once you start flowering it will triple in size so you dont want it to get to big while vegging.

What wattage are each light?
i have 2 27W bulbs and it is perfect temp. deff. do a test run for a few days so your not wasting seeds. you need temps between 75-85F if i put any more bulbs in my temps are way to high.

what else... really it looks like you are on the right path. ill stop by frequently to help you out man. ive got a thread going myself that has a couple weeks to go so ill do the best i can to help you.

gwitto, i bought this case offline and the magnets came with it. Pretty cool I can move anywhere on the box, they just stick to the walls.

So i need a lil clarification

My seeds have germed.
I got two that about half inch long sprouts

I just put my ocean forest soil in the 1 gallon pots(not goin to bother using party cup, than transfering to big pots)
Put some water in to let it drain and get wet.

Now.

Let me kow if this is correct.
-Im goin to poke about an inch deep hole with my finger
-carefully place the seeds in there
-gently cover with soil
-than put saran wrap on top of the pot
-keep the lights 2-4" above plants

correct?

As for my lights.
Since im starting in the vegatative stage.
I wanna use my 6500k of 2700k lights?

And a 24 hr light period is cool?
of like 20, 4 or 18, 6?

Let me know if this is ok, or if im missing anything to start this baby off

seems alright. u dont have to put saranwrap but if your its a bit chilly down where u r it should be a good thing to do. today it finally cooled down over here in South FL. as 4 lights it all depends on u mainly if ur cool with the little extra money for the 20/4 or 24/allday then i guess u should do that i started 18/6 not sure if theres much of a diff. btwn them all. u want to use 6500k lights for veg and aim for around 50watts and up and u should be fine

Sounds good. The lights you want to use 6500k, and switch to 2700k when flowering. It's your preference to do 24/0 or 18/6 lighting. I did 18/6 just because to save on energy bill and also during the dark hours is when the plants do a lot of the growing. I guess it's less stress, but thats just my opinion. I've done 24/0 without problems either.

I live in a house with some other guys so ill ease up on the energy bill and do 18/6

Ill make sure the 6500k's are in

and then ill get back to you guys with some pics as they start sprouting

how often should i water them?
best method? - pouring water around them?
or using a spritz bottle?

you can spray teh leaves if you want to but after you switch it over to flowering i would not recommend it, it could possibly mold up on u. as far as watering goes i watered my plant every other day using only like 20oz of water. this way it would have a day of freshly watered soil and a day or dried up soil. it seems to work for me. also the light cycle is important in pc grows. like others said during the night cycle is when it does most of its growing. however you and I are growing inside of a computer so you really dont want it to grow to much during the veg period. vertical growth is not your friend at this point in time. i had mine of 24hrs. and if you look at my blog you will see that its only about 8in tall, at most. you are deffenitly going to want to LST and or SCROG. check out my thread for more on that other wise there are hundreds of threads dedicated to those 2 methods. but yah use the 6500K bulbs while vegging or again you are going to get alot of stretching.

edit: you can also pour water in the soil. very slowly however. for the first week or so just spritz the soil though to keep it moist. if you pour at this time you may unearth the seed. so spitz with a water bottle. and be careful. if you get past the germination stage your home free. i find it to be the hardest part of growing.
