Zero Water Set Up


This is what my Zero Water set up currently looks like. You pour the tap water in from the top and the filtered water comes out the bottom. I found a cheap plastic stand that I've had for years and drilled a hole in the center of. On the bottom of the Zero Water thing is a hole that the water comes out of and it looks like a 1/2" plastic female pipe thread. At some point I might mount this over a small holding tank with a shut off valve on the bottom but for now this will work just fine.

Simple and Easy...

Set Up Adjutment

When I started this grow I was in period of seasonal transition. Hot/warm temps to cool/cold temps and everything in between. I haven't done Fall/Winter yet so this is all new to me and I've made some adjustments...

Current Set Up

About two weeks ago I added a 15" High Velocity Fan for general circulation in the "Flowering Room" moving about 3,300 CFM's at 110w. It's on the timer with the light on a surge protector with the ballast so when the light goes off, that does too, leaving my new 3 speed 9" High Velocity Fan remaining on 24/7 at Low Speed over the plants.

I put the register for the heat and a/c back in a couple of weeks ago and closed it. We'll see what happens when the temps get really cold. Who knows but I can add more heat if I need to now at some point.

Introduction of Nutes

I watered with nutes today for the first time. Flora Nova Bloom at full strength, 1 Tbs per gallon. 1350ppm. I also mixed in 1 Tbs of Molasses.

I checked the runoff and it looks like about a ph of 6.2- 6.3. I have ph up and down but have yet to use either one.

My plan is to do this every third watering. The next two will be just water and then nutes again after that. Flora Nova Bloom is supposed to be "no brainer" nutes so this SHOULD be easy, I hope.

I got a TDS meter today. I checked my tap water and it's about 210 ppm. Then I checked my filtered water, 0 ppm. Just as advertised!

This is one of them. 29" tall out of the soil and definitely female. All of them are, no hermies. The one I topped is 29" too. The other two are shorter and bushier at 20" and 23".

That's the one thing I don't like about this strain so far. I've spaced the shorter ones up to even out the canopy.

What I DO like is how fast they're growing.

Thanks! I was just thinking about that. This "organized" stuff is carrying over into every other aspect of my life because of this!

Watering

I've got my Zero Water set up in the Flowering Room. It sits on top of my 5 Gallon holding tank about 4 feet off the ground. I put a elbow in the drain valve, 1/2" male pipe thread in the drain valve and a barb pointing straight down that has about 3 1/2 feet of 1/2" ID flex hose on it. About 3 feet below the drain valve I have about a 3 gallon plastic watering pitcher that sits on a platform along with my 1 gallon plastic bottles. When I'm just doing a straight watering that goes directly in the watering pitcher from the holding tank, hands free! When I do nutes I pour the water in the pitcher from the 1 gallon plastic bottles so that's pre measured. Then just refill them again from the holding tank, also hands free. I have a bathroom about 5 feet away and that's where I get the tap water from to pour into the Zero Water thing. Man, this is easy!

Light Raising Method

My lights hang from a hook in the ceiling and until yesterday I've always gotten on a chair or a ladder and moved the chain up on the hook but I don't do it that way anymore. I do it all from the ground now by gathering the chain with a small master link. The first pic shows a big master link that the light would hang from on the bottom. The second pic shows it gathered with a smaller master link (250 lb capacity). All from Home Depot. This is kind of a safety thing too so the lights can't get dropped on the plants. My HPS is lite but my MH weighs a ton with a M59 ballast. lol
