Re: 1st Journal, Big Buddha Cheese

hey guys quick question
im tryin to keep my closet as cool as possible, the average temp is 75
the reason im doing this is cuz i heard that it gives the plant more color but does it make the potency higher??
cuz me and my girl are wearin sweaters and blankets the whole day cuz its so cold in my room
thanks

Re: 1st Journal, Big Buddha Cheese

Of all the reading Ive done it doesnt say anything about potency being affected unless temps go under 65. Over about 80 and the plant spends more energy cooling off that it could bespending on growing tasty buds. So in a way you are increasing potency by keeping temps inthat average.
Take anything I say with a grain of salt, though. Im a noob

Re: 1st Journal, Big Buddha Cheese

According to the beginners grow guide on this site and everything else I've read, the optimal temperature for marijuana is 75F to 78F with a ~ 10 degree drop during lights off.

Re: 1st Journal, Big Buddha Cheese

That is one good looking pot plant. The pattern on the fan leaves or rather the actual shape of the leaves is quite striking. Indica with an attitude.

That leaves two flowering lights held in reserve, if I remember that earlier count correctly. Are you keeping those out because of temps?

I just noticed that broiler tray that the plant is sitting on. That works. It'll catch the runoff. That's assuming you get any runoff. I'm using Miracle-Gro soil as well, for the time being anyway. It's pretty dense stuff. I don't get any runoff. I guess if I really worked at it I could get some runoff, but I'd have to totally saturate that very dense soil to do so, and I don't think that would be a good idea. My intention is to start cutting my soil with perlite so that I'll be able to start getting pH readings on the runoff. I also think it's harder to gauge whether it is time to water when your using very dense soil. And using CFLs exacerbates the issue. CFLs don't burn off the surface water the way HIDs do. Waiting till the soil is dry up to your second knuckle when using CFLs means you are drying the soil out more thoroughly than if you were using a HID. These are the thimgs that the sight of that broiler tray bring to mind.
