1st Time Grow: AF Diesel Ryder, Purple Wreck, using T5's and HPS

I got that bad boy outside now. I'm about 98% sure it's a male at this point, he's got some clear-cut "balls" on his lower branches...start watching yours closely, it will be any time now for you too I almost gaurantee it. we're both growing something crossed with Low Ryder #2 so I bet their gonna be a lot alike. I'm gonna do an entry here in a bit, take some more pics of the man, and the revamped garden, see you in a bit!

Well guys here's my post for today--

When I got up this morning, I noticed that my suspect male Diesel plant had some more recognizable ball-like features on some of the lower branches, so the proper authorities were notified, and the deportation papers were drawn and served by myself at about 8 o'clock this morning. I escorted the suspect off of the premises to the back yard, where one would assume a lonely fate awaits him, as his valuble seed will be harvested for breeding purposes, and he will then be left alone to die amongst common weeds. Tragic!

I repotted 6 plants yesterday, all the Purples with the exception of Timmay!, and all but one of the Diesels, which will need to be done today. I can't see any identifying factors on the remaining Diesel plants to indicate any sex yet, but I suspect that they will show within the next few days based on the discovery of the male. I snapped pics of all the plants just now, including the one I think is male, everybody please take a look and see what you think. The first couple of pics are the suspect male, one from the top and one from the side, where you can make out one of the balls if you look, the next 3 pics are individual shots of the remaining Diesels, then a group shot of the Purple and an invidual shot where you can kind of notice some of the purple tendancies starting to show on one plant, and last but not least is some ridiculous dank I got last night called "Purple Goo"...not really sure why they call it purple, because it doesn't look it, but damn, this stuff is 2 hitter quitter thru my vaporizer, lol, enjoy, post back, later...

Well, another suspected male was removed from the garden tonight. It's either a male or a herm, because so far I only see one lil ball cluster. I'm trying not to lose faith in the other two, they still show no signs, so maybe they'll be girls...I fear this may be the end of the line for Diesel Ryder this time around if I only have to ladies, as I need all the smoke I can get. But have already decided to make one more order, and this one will be for nothing but AF strains, and I'll probably go about as big on the order as I did last time. Probably place this one next week sometime, Attitude had a one week turnaround on my last order, and I could gauruntee myself some more smoke soon. Oh well. Just thinking out loud a little here, sorry!

Upon waking up this morning, I have been able to discover that every Diesel Ryder plant is male. I can't even begin to describe how angry and dissappointed I am. I'm believing more and more what the the "old heads" on this site say about the seedbanks--they're a bunch of crap, a total rip-off. Of the five Diesel Ryder seeds I paid almot 10 dollars a piece for, one never even germinated and the other four were men. I could have just eaten the 50 bucks and been better off.

So, what remain are 4 Purple Wrecks that could potentially all be men as well, and as of this morning, I have two new sprouts, an LSD and a Pineapple Express, both are supposed to be femmed.

Well, this greatly changes the dynamic of the grow room. I was really was hoping to be in on the AF strains, but it appears I will miss out. I feel a little cheated that I need to make yet another order if I want more AF beans. Maybe I will, but I'm going to wait a while I think, as I have a bunch of seeds right now, just none that are AF. I'll get some more though, I really want to check it out. Well, you can keep one going and everyday, shake a little pollen from him into an air tight container. Then you can store the pollen in the freezer till you are ready to pollinate a portion of one of your females for some free beans Better to control the pollination so the whole plant doesn't go to seed. You can find some helpful threads in the grower section if you are interested in it. If you don't need the beans then might as well just chop him. Or use him to practice some new techniques like fimming or topping and supercropping.

You're not out of the AF strains completely. Saving that pollen and crossing it with another strain you plan on growing might turn up some pretty unique AF strains. Consult the growers bible to learn how to lockdown traits after cross breeding.

Cool bro, helpful post. Unfortunatly, I don't really have a place to keep them for that. Oh well. I decided today to suck it up and spend some more money on beans, this time will probabaly only get femenized AF's though, might get one 10- pack of mixed AF strains that are not sexed as well, whatever the cheapest alternative is.

I've decided to go ahead and start a couple of more beans too. One for sure will be a White Widow, and not sure about the other one yet. That would give me a total of eight going right now, 4 of which are supposedly femenized. That should be just about right for my little project space. Well, I guess I'll go start shopping for Af strains, Later for now...

You have my sympathy bud, that's a real kick in the pants. I'd just stick with what you have for now, as BTnugs said, just stick the male somewhere (anywhere!) for a couple of weeks and you'll never have to worry about ordering seeds again! I'm going to hermi a plant on purpose next time just to get some free seeds!

Not sure exactly, but I know it involves putting a perfectly healthy female through very stressful conditions on purpose, like inadiquate light and stuff on purpose. Somehow they "trick" the female basically into thinking she's missed her chance at pollination from a male, and as a matter of neccesity she develops the herm gene so she can pollinate herself. But it's my understanding that the herm gene then gets passed on to the produced seeds, and this is what causes the herm tendancy in some femenized strains.

It's worth noting that I've been a grower for about 21 days now as well...
