My First Bag-Seed Grow, With Pic's

Well this is my first indoor grow session. I've tried growing in the past but pretty much all I did was throw some seeds out the window and wish them the best of luck. (that never worked. Surprise surprise.)

Let me list off the equipment I do have. If I have the wrong stuff or anyone recommends something else to replace what I currently have please let me know!

I have 2 6' fans.
I have 3 26w cfl's hooked up above a box I made. The box is pretty much a square foot all the way around and is lined with Aluminum Foil. I thought it would be more reflective than the black that surrounds it.
The lights are about 5-6 inches away from the plan itself.
The soil i'm using is Miracle Grow Potting Soil, It says it's good for up to 3 months or so.
The seeds are from some wicked schwag i picked up.
I'm only using distilled water.
The box stays around 75-85 degrees.

So I germinated the seeds and both of them came through. I only have room for 2 plants so why germinate more than that I have them in two separate plastic potting cup thingys and so far they're around 3 inches tall and the leaves are growing pretty well. I'll post pics tomorrow, I don't have my camera with me or I would go ahead and post some pic's of these warlocks.

They've been growing about 3-4 days now with 12/12. I read that if the schedule of light is shaky then the plants could come out as hermies, so in the scheduled down time I keep them in complete darkness.

I'll update tomorrow with some pic's but before that I have a few questions:
Will I be able to determine the strain of these plants?
The stem is kind of a purple color, is that bad or good or neither?
Should I keep the plants on 12/12 throughout the grow or should I alternate?
I'm only using the miracle grow potting soil, is there anything else I show throw in the soil for the next batch I grow, if another grow shows itself worth while,?

About a foot wide, foot long, foot deep.

I'm about to post some pictures here in a second.

The box is pretty small but I think it's working fine for the time being. I'm working on another box for when the plants get bigger. That box will be about 3 1/2 feet by 1 1/2, the plants will be able to grow about 3-4 feet tall in it. The dimensions are kind of weird but I'm making it in the desk I use so hopefully it'll work fine I'll have pics of it later on in the thread.

if you mean it's a foot tall, then i don't think that's gonna be tall enough. with lights, and pot height. maybe with some creative LSTing, it could work though.

The lights are at the top of the box, actually above it and the box is just below it. I have the plants on a few game boxes I have so the plants are close enough to the lights to do some good.

Your right tho, If I were to continue to grow in this box the plants would die out after getting past a certain height. I'm taking the pictures now, Bout time yeah?

Here's the box it's in. Just a temporary fix until I get through wiring up my new box. Shouldn't be but a day or two.

Pic number 2 is the Inside of said box.

Pic Three is the box with the plant in it.

Pic 4 is one of my plants. It seems to be snipped on one of the leaves and it almost looks like it's turning yellow on some places.

Pic 5 is just one of the plants. Lookin perty. I only have two of these little guys.

First if I may...you need to read & read & read till your eyes get fuzzy. there is a lot of great free king info on here for you.

I'm still reading every night & learning more every day.
I'm on my first grow too but so far its a breeze with no problems.
Dirt & nutes... I don't know shit about, I just try to follow directions on the bottle.
TT & I are doing hydro.

First, your babies are too small to be on 12/12 we don't go there till flowering. You need lights on 24/7 or 18/6 either is good, I do 18/6 since it don't matter and I can save a few hours on my lamps that way too. Buy a timer.
Duct tape foil & a milk box? I love it!!! are you on a budget? LOL JK
I don't think foil is the preference but PBA(probably be AHight)

IMHO you can always spend more to get more yield. READ the long grow journals. those guys are the grow gods.

I'll keep an eye on this!

That setup was just one of my "High Projects". Aka I got blazed and lurked grasscity and decided I should wing it.

I just got through setting up my bigger box. Now all I need is to get some more lights and get it all hooked up. I did have a question though that I hope I can get answered quickily since i'm about to go cash my pay check and hit the store.

If you go to CoffeeNCannabis's journal and look at the first picture you see the lights being used. I have the right light bulbs but the adapter being used that you plug in that holds two light bulbs I do not have. I would like to purchase a few but I don't know what they are called, how much they would be or if my town has them. can anyone lend some knowledge?

Yep 24/7 or 18/6 till the plants get a foot tall or so. After that its called throwing the Switch... and then its 12/12 for 2 months, thats when the magic happens.

I think what your are refering to is a bulb splitter? splits one socket into two? Home Cheapo Or Lowes should have them.

Hey guys.

Just posting a little update.

My new grow box is still undergoing construction or i would post pics of it . I went to all the hardware stores in my town and couldn't find a bulb splitter Anywhere.

I did find a few socket adapters ( as shown in the picture ) so by tonight I'll have the new set up ready to go and will probably post pictures. (btw thank you CoffeeNCannabis for the pic)

I'm thinking of going with the the Rubbermaid grow plan and getting a few more lights set up in the box. So for a day or two this is going to be an outside grow journal

Well here's a few pic's of the plants. I put both of the plants outside last night around 4 in the morning ( I stay out really late ) so they can get some sunlight since I'm not feeding them enough light with only 2 26w light bulbs. So far it seems like the leaves have gotten more perkier, which i'm really glad to see because one of them was getting pretty droopy.

I'll post the pic's of the grow box setup in an hour or two, but for now here's the plants. Enjoy!

update: I went and bought 4 new packs of 6500k 26w 100w replacement cfl's.

Question: Where can I buy mylar from? The reflective sheeting some of the pro's on here are using instead of aluminum foil like I was .
