1st grow from bagseed

SOooo. This is my first grow and most of the stuff I've learned I have learned from GC. I have 3 seeds that just sprouted and I have another 5 germinating. I have 5 75w cfls and a fan on them. Yesterday I went to the lake and I had a hard time deciding if I should keep my lights on or not because they hadn't sprouted yet. But I ultimately decided not to because it would've gotten WAY too hot in there and I couldn't have my fan going cause it would be too loud. So when I got back they had sprouted and I think they're stretching, is that something I should be worried about and what could I do for them? I'm using FFOF and FF nutes. Also I'm going to have them on a 18/6 light schedule for veg. I ordered white widow seeds but I decided to start this up to have a little test run before I start the ww. I don't think I have anything else for now... Except I'll probably need help AND thanks you guys for reading.

Here are some pics...
The other cups are in there for when my others germinate.

macro on my camera sucks :-(

I'm going to move the light closer to this one soon.

This one germinated later than the others, therefore was planted later.

again horrible macro.

Well it looks like everything is going well, I would definitely move the lights closer as you said. I don't know that much about CFLs but I don't think it's a problem to have them really close to your plants, but you'll have to adjust accordingly for growth. They look good, and I know you'll receive good advice from the citizens of the city.

Re: 1st grow from bagseed

You may want to add some more soil up the stem of those babies in addition to moving them closer to the lights. A fan at this time would also be nice.

Re: 1st grow from bagseed

Okay so it's been a week since planting them I think....
and they've gotten pretty big. BUT I still have those same seeds germinating and it's getting a little annoying that they're taking so long. I see a very small root tip out of most of them but I thought you were supposed to wait until it was actually out. Also, the plant that hadn't(or barely had) sprouted when I first posted STILL is small... so what's up with that? I've been keeping the soil moist and everything but it's so slow... Maybe I'm just impatient.... Another thing, my two big ones are either using a lot of water or the fan is drying them out, but every day I come to see them and the soil is DRY... some one please give me some advice. I'm confused. Ps- I use a spray bottle to water them for now.

the further plant looks a lot farther from the light than it really is, i think.

one of my germinating seeds. oh they're in a tupperware thing between wet/damp paper towels.

some more...

a sort of decent picture of the root tip... but not really now that i look at it more... it's a little further out that what the picture depicts.

my little set-up...

OH!@ i forgot, I recovered one of the seedlings that popped through the soil, thinking maybe a little humidity would do the trick. It kind of perked up a little but not much.

my fan...

my slow seedling.

hoooooowwwwwwww cuuuuute!

my smaller one. are they leaning like that towards the light??? i'm sure that's it.

cute!

another one.

there are lots of pictures. I love swooning over them. So expect a lot of pictures from me.

Re: 1st grow from bagseed

Ugh, so I got my white widow seeds and germinated one and it's curled like an ear...
weird. I can't take pictures of my other plants right now cause it's lights off time right now but they're getting big and one has some yellowing of it's leaf tips. I don't think i'm really worried about it.

here's the weird seed

Re: 1st grow from bagseed

Thanks, I appreciate that!

I took some pics of my plants today just about 30 minutes ago. The lights had been on for about an hour.

And they've got more yellowing and stuff. :-(

The only thing I've been doing different is holding off on watering them except for every couple of days cause I killed my slow sprout by over watering. (I know what a noob mistake right?) Lame. Anyway so I sprayed them a little. I hope that will do the trick. If not I'm going to be needing some help. But I read somewhere that you can't try to fix every leaf and every single little problem or else you'll run into more problems. It seems true, so I'm just going to watch them for awhile and see how they do.

for some reason my camera would rather focus on my hand... annoying.

This is plant 2 Alexis.

Re: 1st grow from bagseed

A little update, I put my weird white widow seed in the soil a couple days ago and the sprout came up, but the taproot turned out to be IN the seed casing so it didn't get to go into the ground and grow and flourish. I knew this because I didn't see the seed casing anywhere near the sprout head. Sucks, just dug it up and inspected it. I was right. So I started on another white widow. STUPID. UGH. Anyway I also planted some more seeds and figured out what my plants problem is(I think)

Okay. So maybe no one cares about me figuring my problems out. But I'm just going to go ahead and let it all out.
My old(er) plants are still in SOLO cups and I didn't realize(noob) that their roots would actually be... well long. So I was dumping the drainage from the cups and I looked at my drainage holes and I saw little roots. I was very upset with myself because I'm being negligent! Whatever. I think the root bound on top of my discontinuation of my watering schedule made them um... not do so well. So that problem will be fixed in about 6 or 7 hours when I transplant them into bigger pots finally, I guess. I'm also going to be continuing with my discontinued watering plan. Blah Blah blah. I think I have 7 little ones in there now, not including my deceased(or new born) white widow.

It's so late. I'm going to quit lurking the internet now.

ps- We also cleaned out my closet since last upd.

Re: 1st grow from bagseed

Man they look okay, just keep doing what you're doing. And don't worry about how many responses you get, just keep the journal for yourself, you know? No one has posted in my journal in a while, but I could give two shits about it. My plants are growing and that's all you can ask for.

And yours are way bigger than mine already, but I guess that's what a little money can buy. So keep it up man, I'll be watchin.

Re: 1st grow from bagseed

Whats the humidity like? how often do you water? how is your drainage? have u given nutes yet? whats the temp? any of these factors along with the rootbound prob can be it do what your doin as I learned its a learning experience you learn the best by doing it Iknow it sucks and you might even want to throw in the towel but truck on and keep learning you will be very happy with the results
