My A/C is holding in as best as it can. Right now its 81F at my desk. I keep a 12" oscillating fan on them 24/7 and the room has a 52 inch fan.

My thermostat is set back for 80F during working hours.

With out moving into a newer house its all I can do.

I'm thinking of doing a one time huge grow in the garage during the winter. I think I can manage the heat & occasional one time cold spell if I start around Nov 1. I'll do the GOG method (garage of green)

Re: WW 1st grow in Texas Heat

DAy 23 UpdateS'up?ppm was at 170, So I added 4m each of M G B and now I have 352 ppm
It was really sort of a top off, just to keep them feeding. I want my girls to be fat little Texans, the life of the party, fat sticky fingers, overeating is a Texas way of life down here...LOL

So is the heat, its 7:30pm & its 91F outside and 12 degrees cooler inside

This is a shot from above with flash on
Its getting crowded already

So this weekend the plants get new homes with more room to grow big & fat!
This tray will hold any spills will slide perfectly under the T5's

Now I need to go to Sams Club & buy more 5 gallon H20 bottles....sigh

S'up Sparky? How your garden growing?

Nice! I wish I had thought of that earlier, but I feel mine are manageable, 6 more weeks it will be September & the 100F days should be gone.
Plus there is a lot of light leakage & this is going to be better for the 12/12

Now exhaust is going to be an issue when these thing start to smell.

Plus next week my 90year old uncle will be over & hiding this is not going to happen.
I hope he's going to be proud of my green thumb...LOL

Re: WW 1st grow in Texas Heat

Hey Now,
I'm gonna start a WW indoor hydro grow at the beginning of Aug. It'll be my second, and I use T5's too. Your girls look great! Remember, they are pure Indica and grow kinda bushy, so give em room.
I found out a lot during my first grow through tons of mistakes, but still got smokables. This forum is awesome! But if you haven't checked out other peoples WW grows on Utube, give it a shot, the Greenhouse Seed Co. videos are helpful.
Good Luck from Cali!

Re: WW 1st grow in Texas Heat

S'up?
Here is my morning bowl of cheerios for breakfast

Here are my fast growing girls. They are sucking up solution like crazy. this small container probably never would have held 2 plants to maturity. But if you were really doing a Stealth Grow with a dwarf auto flower it may have been OK
I have to make another trip to thje hydro store for 2 forgotten fittins & then I can leak test & transplant them to the new 5gal homes. I'll get photos up tonight after the move.

L8R

S'up Sparky? Because of the heat I have to do everything right here. And I'll flower with the same t5 Lights too. Now I'm already learning that I have not planned on odor control at all. I was hoping it would be something I could just shut to door on or ignore, but now I'm reading that I may need to re evaluate this lack of a plan.

Re: WW 1st grow in Texas Heat

nice job man

just wondering why do you run the ppm so low? you should be able to hit 650 - 700 under cfl without any burning

IM, thanks for looking in! Good question, Besides it being my first grow & nervous all this hard work goes to shit. Its only been 18 days since the roots poked thru the net pots. then I waited 5 days before putting in any nutes. I have read not to put nutes in for the first 2 weeks, but I jumped the gun early there too.

I have(till L8R today) a small 3.75gal container and the Advanced Nutes Calculator online, gave a 2 week seedling feeding schedule starting at 500ppm peak. I never did reach that high. Also with 4 girls sharing everything that only one plant should have, they are drinking the solution as fast as I could fill it.

So today with the new buckets I'll be starting the AN calculator for the Veg growth, which shows 1400ppm peak for the next 8 weeks.
Although, I'm confused with the calculators, and # of weeks to Veg, I think I'll star out at about week 2-3 with the veg feeding schedule. I have to first calculate my res size when I fill everything in a few hours. Hopefully I can get the ppms up to 700 or more with the first new batch?

Again, Thanks for looking in, I welcome any and all of your thoughts or recommendations.

Re: WW 1st grow in Texas Heat

once plants are past seedlings I think it's OK to feed them as much as they can handle and that is more determined by light than straiin (strain counts a little, but not as much as lumens imo)

you can go to 650 - 700 safely. just make sure to keep the nutes as cool as you can (67F is ideal, you might need to float small bottles of ice to chill it) and your ph should be at 5.8 or so (i let mine go from 5.8 - 6.2 as a range)

nute temps, ppm and ph are the only three numbers you need to keep safe and your plants will do the rest

if you had HPS (400 watter is only about 100 + shipping) you could run your nutes at about 1250 and your plants would yelid a LOT more than CFL (about 2xs)

you'll want one once you've been flowering a few weeks

67F? Not down here! My refrigerator is barely there...JK
I'm in the coolest part of my house and it is what it is temperature wise. I Have no control over it.

So look at the new pics of the new system!
Specs:
4) 5 gal buckets, 1) 5 gal reservoir, all inter-connected
1) 5" round air stones in each bucket
new dual diaphragm 4port air pump
External inline pump for manual recirculation (twice daily)
White tray to contain any possible leaks

Fresh Advanced Nutes @ 80ml micro 80mlgrow 15bloom as per AN calculator brought me up to 465ppm
I’ll run it this way till next week when I’ll go up on the nutes more, but for now, I want the girls to get used to the new space.
I have a feeling I’m not finished engineering this & will be needing something for odor management.
I may just buy a 400HPS for the flowering, but I was wanting to see what this T5 will do, but I can’t find any threads with grows finishing under T5’s. But the ones with CFL’s, that I can find do OK, So I gotta do better than them. Right?

Re: WW 1st grow in Texas Heat

Looking good so far! Are you going to be using the lucas formula like Rumple? I'm near the end of my first grow, using a waterfarm and much advice from Rumple. I vegged under a t5 just like yours. Well, looks like your off to a great start, hope you get a nice pull from those!!

S'up? SS
Your grow looks great! You gotta be so ready to get into that....

No Lucas this time, I am doing the Advanced Nutrients Micro Grow Bloom & the AN online calculator.
You just punch in the Res Size & what stage you are in & follow directions.

Everyone is telling me they started on T5's DID ANYONE FINISH on T5's?????
I guess I'll start looking for a 400HPS...........sigh.....
