Re: Homer's Aerogarden w/ Advanced Nutrients

yes they do detach easily, i've got the hood and i've already come up with the new design, I'm just waiting on the 2700k+ bloom blub to finish off this experiment crop.
I'm also receiving the 6500k+ bulb for the next grow.
Cheers.

Re: Homer's Aerogarden w/ Advanced Nutrients

Got my new light set-up, i'll be intergrating into my set-up this weekend, inbetween brewing beer, smoking medicine and watching re-runs of family guy who has the time to do anything anymore.

So i'll be using a 100W ,2700K fluro from Growlush.
it'll be housed in a refector, on chains for movement.

Not sure if i should keep the Aero's 2x 26W fluro's on the setup or store them, as the new bulb will be almost twice the wattage.

Good looking grow man!

Those little AeroGardens really do the job..

Sorry to hear about your nute problems, but I've found in hydro and with AN, you need to chill the mix or it just causes problems. Anyways glad you figured everything out!

Also, keep the existing lights and add them in with your new one, it can only help!

When u say "chill the mix" i hadn't heard that term used in growing before and my 420 phrase book isn't helping.
I'm guessing u mean either let it sit for a while with an airstone before putting in the res., which is what i'm doing now.

Or do u mean actally making the mixture cooler?

Yeah, i'm not sure yet how to put the AG lights in, as it's a very small space...All i know is they arn't great for flowering, they must be mostly in the blue spectrum.

Thank for all the comments.

Not sure but i think he means not to use as much (dose wise), or dont use as many additives.

I mean actually making it cooler. If your nutrients solution is above 75 degrees, it'll start to cause all sorts of problems. I keep my reservoir between 66-68 during daylight hours.... before I bought the chiller, I was having all sorts of issues that can only be attributed to high temps in the reservoir.

Although you can get through some grows without one, I definitely think a chiller is a mandatory item on any hydroponics system... although probably not worth the price tag when you are dealing with something very small, like an AeroGarden...

What are your res temps like?

New Light.

Ok, so this is where i am at.

I've received the new CFL's and man are they bright.

Pic 1- is the old Aerogarden's lights now removed. 2x 26W

Pic 2 -is the new setup, a 100W 6400K for Grow, and a 2700K for bloom (bloom bulb is currently in fixture.

I'm considering hanging the aerogardens lights for a bit of a boost, but still nutting it out.

I've lowered the shelf now, as the lights have alot more vertical freedom.

My only problem right now is temp. it's winter here and it's rather bloody freezing, and i have now way of heating the room as it's in my garage. Growth has slowed down becasue of the cold.

Buds are forming up now.
Next grow i'll make a few minor adjustments.
thanks for watching

Re: Homer's Aerogarden w/ Advanced Nutrients

If you could add a couple more cfls you'll bring the heat up. Maybe a couple with work clamps and a Y outlet on either side? If you can get it shining on the plants somehow I'd turn on the aerogarden light too to warm it up and give more light. The mixed spectrum is ok I've read and the more light the better.

I've got an aerogarden grow going to, but its a few weeks behind yours so I'm gonna watch your grow and try to learn from it. I have read not to put in more than 2 or 3 plants at the most cause the roots fill up the resevoir. I have 5 at the moment lol.

Looks like all females here.
Well i started with maximum of 7, in case i had males.
the two side plants wilted as i don't believe they had enough light.
So always start with more then u need as u don't know whats going to happen during the grow or if u may lose or have to cut some out.

Re: Homer's Aerogarden w/ Advanced Nutrients

Sorry for not finishing this journal. But i'll be posting my up-to-date results for my following attempt. Which has gine much better.
I had nutrient problems before, and ended up burning them, then i cut them back and eventually only got a few decent smokable buds.

I've just switched my new grow into flowering andd will post pics soon, keep a look out for my new post soon.
