7-14

Pic was taken after tucking a bunch of branches down, which is why it looks trampled upon. Changed the reservoir to plain water to flush between veg/flower last night, then it's on to flower time

Re: 2nd grow - ebb/flow, Blue Rhino, GDP

Hey everyone. I have an extremely noob question, but I'm only just now starting to research this stuff. What is the point of the chicken wire? Is this what they call LST and what benefits does it impart? Also, at what point in the growth cycle do you do this?

Re: 2nd grow - ebb/flow, Blue Rhino, GDP

yes it is lst..its not really that noobish..i thought the same thing when i first saw one..it puts a low amount of stress on the plant alowing it to grow bigger, bushier, etc. thus producing a higher yield and thicker bud around harvest...there are different types of lst..just look around on the net for guides..better yet look around the forum

Re: 2nd grow - ebb/flow, Blue Rhino, GDP

The screen is a method of Low Stress Training (LST). Tying the plant down causes the side branches. To grow larger/faster. Instead of the "christmas tree" look of a normally grown plant, you get all of the branches trying to be the main top. It increases your yield, while controlling the height of the plant. As you can see in my grows (this one and my first), you can't even tell which top is the main top.

Look up the terms "scrog" or "screen of green," as well as LST for more info. I'm driving so I can't really elaborate any more

if you could type all that while driving that is pretty impressive

as far as scrog goes I am wondering if anyone has ever tried to concave the screen for a bit of a higher yield, maybe not even worth it but I wondered about surface area. seems like you could get a bit more of the screen was concave. course the light might not hit all of the leafs equally.

I am new and learning so my ideas might just be a good theory but that is it

ideally I want to do my first grow with bag seed and do a scrog in a grow tent, with a dwc base and leds, but that might be too many variables to account for starting out..so I might scale it back to a scrog with dwc in a tent and cfl. it is just for me so I don't need poundage but it would be nice to maximize effort

Re: 2nd grow - ebb/flow, Blue Rhino, GDP

I've seen plants grown in a perpetual harvest setup that way. The youngest plants were in the middle, oldest on the outsides.

If doing a SCROG, you might want to use clones because if you end up with males/hermies it will be a huge PITA to remove them from the screen, especially if you don't notice it before they start releasing pollen. If that happens you'll get all kinds of seeds.

Re: 2nd grow - ebb/flow, Blue Rhino, GDP

Ladies are now flowering

My lush jungle of GrandDaddy Purp and Blue Rhino

How it looks underneath. I'm daily removing yellowing leaves from underneath, there simply isn't enough light getting through the canopy I've got a fan blowing under here for plenty of airflow, as well as a fan on top.

Re: 2nd grow - ebb/flow, Blue Rhino, GDP

you said you'll be cutting off yellow leaves from the bottom?

will you be trimming everything off the bottom and leaving just the top of the canopy?
