Kayakbubbler's Lowryder x AK-47 Rubbermaid CFL Grow

Hey guys, I've been away for a while, but i've still got the growing bug. This will be my 2nd grow, you can check out my first one that I did a couple of years ago in my signature.

I just placed my order with Attitude Seeds for some Fem'd Lowryder x AK-47. As a bonus, I got 5 G13 LABS THAI SUPER SKUNK seeds, and 1 SKUNK NO.1 FEMINIZED SEED. And a T-shirt!! I haven't gotten my grow box set-up yet, but I'm planning on using two large rubbermaids, stacked on top of one another, with the middle cut out. I'm shooting for 260 total watts using 10 26w bulbs. Ferts and soil will be from Fox Farm. Do to the fact that my space will be small, I think I'm going to go with growing one plant at a time, and hopefully all 5 eventually end up as females.

I'll be buying the materials to put the grow box together in the next week or two, and once I get one of the seeds germinated, we will begin. I'm hoping to start no later than the first of May since I'll be moving in August, and it starts to really get hot up here in July (no central AC, just a window unit).

From doing research over the last two weeks or so, I've seen a lot of familiar names that are still active that joined me in my last grow a few years ago. Hopefully ya'll can join me on this one and it turn out even better.

So until I get the seeds, and assemble the box, ya'll will have to join me in being patient. It's gonna be hard for me, I'm very anxious to get started. Until then, peace.

Nice bagseed grow you had there in '06. Allow me to offer some advice. When building your own cab or even just preparing a room/space, you can never put too much time into it. If possible, i'd suggest letting your circumstances dictate your cadence.

Setting a start or finish date that's convenient for you, doesn't always leave you grinnin' come harvest. Think -->the construction industry<-- LOL.

The bulk of the time monopolized by a new space is the "dry-run" analysis, as this can only be achieved by running the system without plants for several days to watch for fluctuations in temp & humidity etc.. This'll give you the opportunity to fine tune the environment before subjecting the plants to the potential climatic inconsistencies.

Believe me, there's nothing more stressful than on-the-fly-engineering when it's your babies who're suffering. I'll be keeping an eye on ya.

Thanks for the tips man. But don't you worry, I won't be rushing this. I still have LOTS of time before I move. These plants only need 8-9 weeks from seed to bud, so even if I start at the end of May, which is more than a month away, I'll still have time to harvest and be done with this grow in time to move. Ideally, I'll get the seeds in a week, maybe two, and in that time I'll get my box set-up and tested.

The one really good thing about this strain is that I don't have to worry about lightproofing so much. With only a 4hr recommended "dark" time, I'll just time it so that I'm sleeping when the lights go off, and my room will be dark anyways. Heat was my biggest issue with my last grow, so it's my number one concern with this one, I won't let it be a problem. Plus, I'm only using CFL's, instead of my 250HPS, so heat should automatically be 99% less of a problem.

Well, on this fine Easter morning, I woke up early and went down to the river for some kayaking. While I was out there, my grow crept into my brain, and I soon became too focused on it. So when I was done with the river, I headed to Wal-Mart and bought some supplies. I didn't get everything I need yet, as I've decided to wait until I get my seeds. If I don't get my seeds, I probably won't try again for some time.

Anyways, I bought about half of my light set-up. I plan on having one of these power strips on each side of the box, for a total of 200w up top. I'll also have two clip on reflectors with 26, maybe 42w lights at the bottom with the plant. Here's a picture of one of my light bars.

So I got an email from Attitude saying my order was being processed, and they gave me my tracking number. I just checked their website and it now says that the Lowryder x AK-47 is out of stock again. I sure hope I got their last packet. Hopefully tomorrow the trackign is updated and it says my order has been shipped.

Your order has already shipped and will not update till it says passed to oversea's carrier.....ive delt with them and they are great.....just be patient it can take from 6 days ( fastest for me from them) up to 15 days ( longest on a order from them to me).....and the tracking info is always behind so it does no good my first order never even said passed to oversees carrier yet it arrived in 8 days so dont worry and forget about trying to track it just know it will be between 6 to 15 days from the tracking number email.......good luck

Thanks for the heads up Gizmoe. It got updated this morning and says it's at the overseas shipping place, awaiting shipment to the USA. I hope you're right that the tracking is usually behind schedule, and maybe, just maybe, my seeds have already gotten here and through customs.

I hate waiting on these things day to day, it's like you know Christmas is coming, but you're not exactly sure what day it's gonna be. Could be today, could be 3 days, but when it comes w00t w00t . The good thing is I'm going out of town on a paddling trip this weekend, so that's Fri-Sun where my head will be somewhere else other than thinking about my seeds arriving.

Haha, waiting is seriously the hardest part man. Doing my first grow and finding that out. I just wanna sit in my closet with my girls watching them grow lol. Seems a lot of people are going with rubbermaid grows recently. I'm doing one myself, will definitely check back in when this gets started.

Giggity giggity!!! I had an awesome weekend in the mountains on a really fun river, and after getting off early today from work, I come home to find my seeds waiting on me. So now I'm headed to Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, and some other spots to pick up the materials and supplies for my grow box. I also have tomorrow and Wednesday off, so I've got 2 full days, plus tonight, to complete it and get it tested for temeprature and what not.

I'm keeping it short for now, just toked up a bit and grabbing the car keys for some shopping fun. Will be back later and post pictures as soon as some things start to take shape.

Thanks man, tomorrow I'll have pictures to show. Right now I've got the floor of the top bin and the lid of the bottom bin cut out, along with a hole for the exhaust fan and two passive intake holes. Tomorrow I'm gonna spray paint the inside with a couple of coats of black, and hopefully get some mylar inside of it. I still need a couple of pieces to finish the lights, Wal-Mart was out of Y-splitters today. I've gotta do some more research as to how I want to duct my exhast fan. So hopefully, tomorrow will find a completed box, all grow supplies acquired, and seeds beginning to germinate.

One question though: While at Wal-Mart I bought 2 42w bulbs, thinking they were of the 2700k variety. However, once I got home, I noticed that it was 2700 lumens and not Kelvin. No where on the box does it say soft white, or warm white, or day light. As far as I can see, there are no indicators on the box or the bulb as to what light spectrum it is. When I plug them into my 26w 6500k bulbs though, I can definately tell the 26w bulbs are glowing blue-ish, like they should, and the 42w bulbs are yellow-ish. Anyway to know if they're 2700k or not?

If they emit a yellowish light, they are the warm variety, more suitable for flowering.
