LOWRYDER 2 : first soil grow

Hey everyone... Name's Elvis. I figured I start this thread to stop from flooding others' threads w pics of my baby girl, which I have properly named Pricilla, and to give others more LR2 pics to compare to. I will do my best to keep a day to day log going, but I do have a life(unfortunately) and I cant always stay ontop of things-(when it comes to updating) Well, w/o further ado.... Precilla's first steps...

Notice in the second picture above that the leaves are " Y " or " praying "- clear signs of a happy,healthy plant ! !

She is looking pretty healthy... Thanks to FFOF potting soil ! Just add water and watch her take off running...

Thats a really nice grow you'v got going. Definately looks healthy. Your seems to be growing faster than my two LR2's. Not too sure why really, what lighting do you have yours on?

Its funny that you ask... Maybe if I remember later, I'll take a pic of my setup... You'll laugh your a$$ off !

I am also running my lights 24/7 ( the little b#tch doesn't get a chance to rest) lol I currently am running it under 2 : 24W CFL w 5500 lumens a piece. Towards the later part of last week, I put another 24W CFL but it's lumens were 2400 and I started to "tease" the plant w/ a random on/off cycle of it while keeping the other 2 @ 55oo lumens constantly on. Occasionally too I would take her from her dungeon and let her enjoy some natural sunlight in the window and let bask in god's glory.(still bit chilly outside yet).

I think its a combo of the 24 hr lighting; tagged with a variation of light "teasing". I also have a heat matt for seeding that is constantly on. I know people say that your roots should be a tad cooler - but i disagree. Just my opinion but the roots are the "brain" stems of the plant. If they are not happy, the rest of your plant's not happy, then Im not happy and thats no good !! lol The warming of roots acts as a catalyst to plants. Thats why true gardeners have their plants in raised beds (not to keep the animals away, if they want it, they will take it) Gardeners plant into raised beds, so that the roots warm up from the sun and ambient heat from all four sides along with the top - instead of just on-top when planted directly into the ground. Why not heat the roots indoors by putting them on a low-heat matt ? ? ? Sounds like a good idea to me

Anyways, good luck with your girls. I will have to keep you posted as well as maybe checkin' some pics of yours out !? Remember that patience is a virtue, and your plants are always giving you their best...

Well i'm tempted to cut down a bit to maybe 20/4 just to get some more height so i can LST otherwise she might become so compact I wont be able to and end up burning herself. and we don't want that. You seem like you have had quite a while to fiddle about and perfect your lighting

. I would put them on the window sill but my neighbers are already suspicious after i had a smoke up a while ago and we were in the garden with the giggles at 1 in the morning. Don't think they were very happy

Well I agree that the roots should be kept warm or at least at a constant temperature. they dont like dramatic changes in temp. However surely if they remain in your grow room then simple chemistry dictates that the soil will eventually go to the temp of the grow room? or was you saying you only use the heat mats while they are on the window sill?

Yeh, i'm impressed how fast these grow. definitely the plant for the impatient man lol. i think i can just about resis giveng them nute burn or over watering in an attempt to speed it all up
