Third grow: Blueberry from HGS

UPDATE 3/23/09: 1 week into flowering

Both plants are growing strong and seem to be doing well. I gave them their first dose of FoxFarm's Tiger Bloom (1 tsp per gallon, pH adjusted to 6.5) a few days ago. Plant 1 is certainly adjusting to the flowering phase much quicker than plant 2, but plant 2 is coming along nicely. Soil pH is steady around 6.6 - 6.8. The closet it starting to get a little tight width and length wise (lots of room yet to grow vertical).

A couple of the leafs (not many) are curling downwards. Anyone know what this might be from? See the last pic in the series for more detail and description...

So I have come across my first question. A couple of leafs (a small percentage) are curling downwards. There are no signs of discoloration from something nute burn or def, and the pH is spot on around 6.6-6.8. Can anyone tell me why these leaves are curling down? Over/under watering? Is this something I should concerned about? See pic.

UPDATE (3/26/09): 1.5 weeks into flowering!

Not too much to report, just wanted to post some new pictures. I added another 65w CFL to the 250w HPS and 2x45w CFL's I already had (for a total of 405w). Also gave them both a dose of nutes today (1tsp per gallon of Tiger Bloom).

Thanks dude! Can't wait to see some real buds growing...and see whether or not they'll actually turn slightly blue or lavender and smell like blueberries. Doesn't much matter really, but it would be fun.

Maybe I missed something but how did your plant 1 start showing female aspects during veg?

Thanks for stopping in Cyric! When looking very closely, I could see the beginnings of female pre-flowers on plant 1 around 3.5 weeks of veg (18/6 light cycle). The tiny white pistols were just starting to show themselves. Plant 2 also showed this, but not until about 4.5 weeks of veg. I've been able to sex plants before flowering begins in the past too...you just have to look very very closely. Females I think are easier to identify early because those white pistols stick out like a beacon of light.

UPDATE: 3/30/09, 2 weeks (14 days) of flower.

Buds are starting to develop and grow nicely. Gave another small dose (1/2 tsp) of FF's Tiger Bloom this morning, which they seem to be responding well too. Soil pH is steady around 6.8 or so. In two weeks or so I'll begin a little molasses treatment, but not quite yet.

Any comments/suggestions are more than welcome!

Thanks for that insight Chief. I was curious if it might have something to do with the 18/6 light cycle? All my grows have been 24/7 and I've never been able to detect anything.

I just started 2 new seedlings under 18/6 though, so I am curious to see if I'll be able to see any pre-flowers in my veg cycle.

i'm curious to hear what happens with that because i've always wondered if the 18/6 cycle causes the plants to show more preflowers than if they were under 24/0. i've found that all my vegging plants under 18/6 adjusted to the 12/12 rather quickly (just a couple of days i think), whereas some people say it can take up to 2 weeks. but i'm just a noob at this...

Ill be at 3 weeks this next monday and my kush buds are getting dense weight on them already...the sour D is looking like yours...alot of hairs and wild thin sativa leaves.

UPDATE: 17 days flowering (2.5 weeks)!

So far so good! Plant 1 is still growing taller (about 5ft), which means the HPS lamp is hanging pretty high right now, but i think the 3 CFL's are keeping enough light on all the darker areas. Plant 2 is staying a little smaller, around 4 ft tall now.

Just gave them a good dose of nutes today too (1 tsp of Big Bloom + 1 tsp Tiger Bloom in 1 gal each, pH adjusted to 6.5).
