Re: n3r0's Powerplant ScroG grow!

I should probably leave a note about how i got up to this point and where i'm going from here. The plants suffered some initial shock and were looking bleak for the first week. They were suffering from serious nutrient lockout as the ph of the reservoir measured 6.8 for a few days. I battled the rising alkalinity with lime juice for a week or so until i got some legitimate PH down which solved the problem. At that point they turned around and started growing exponentially. I learned from that crisis lime/lemon juice simply cannot break the alkaline buffer of most water. Good PH down is an imperative tool in a hydroponics setup. I've kept my reservoir at 6.2 ph and slowly have added more nutrient solution and water over the last 3 weeks. I have not changed the reservoir. I will flower soon at which point i will change the reservoir and flush out the system before adding a new reservoir with florabloom. I also plan to periodically add small amounts of vanilla extract to the reservoir over the blooming period. Once they are on their last leg in nutrient free water, 3 hours before harvest, i will add a large dose of vanilla. Hopefully they will systemically absorb it before i chop them down. After a good slow cure I'm hoping to have more then a pound of tasty potent bud with a slight undertone of vanilla and a smooth finish.

Re: n3r0's Powerplant ScroG grow!

Problem-
I've tried to switch over to 12/12 and my timer has dropped a big steamy brick. I called the guy at the store i bought all my equipment from and he's shipping me a mechanical timer. For the time being i've just been plugging and unplugging the light. All photomanipulation has occurred within about 10 minutes of scheduled time. I am concerned that this may cause stress to my plants. Please someone elaborate on the seriousness of this issue. It's stressing me out and I don't know if it should be.

The pistils are elongating and buds are beginning to form. I'll make sure to frequently update.

201? It's 12 2 gallon buckets filled with hydroton and big fat root balls in a flood/drain system. The tent is the Home Box XL. It's about 4ft x 4ft x 6.5ft. It's an excellent set-up that works very well. On my next run I'm going to remove the controller bucket from the actual tent to allow the plants to space out even more. I'm also considering replacing that 600w HPS with a 1000w HPS cool tubed for flowering, among other adjustments.

Re: n3r0's Powerplant ScroG grow!

I thought with SCROG, you wove the plants into the mesh to keep the main stem and side stems low and even, and train outward... your grow looks fucking great, but it's probably more of a SOG right? Though I guess the mesh still lends support as the flowering girls get fat up top!

I used the screen to separate the topped branches and space them out so they can all get even light. To my knowledge that's the idea behind a ScroG. I did train them like that until i turned it on to 12/12. Then they pretty much shot up in a few days to be like they are now. I was limited by space too. After this grow I'm doing a serious overhaul on my whole setup and adding a vegetative room, a 1000w cool tube for flowering, bubble bucket mothers, a cloner, and c02. I plan to have a lot more space to work with the ScroG more closely in the future.
