Re: jcm's Closet Grow

Hey guys! As usual, thanks for all the kind words. Went out and picked up my microscope today from RadioHack. The triches on the buds are, as expected, clear to mostly milky. A few more pistils have ambered up, especially on the lower buds. Fruity Pebbles and Tang flood your nostrils when you're working with them. The blueberry and mango is most definitely noticeable. Really wish I could've went with a hallide simply so I could've yielded more but hey, for a cfl grow I think it turned out pretty damn good

We're approaching the home stretch, hope you guys plan on stickign around

Re: jcm's Closet Grow

Lookin' good, jcm... just make sure and flush them REALLY well when it comes closer to that time. My first batch with the Big Bloom came out kinda chemically, and I should have known by the way the leaves stayed real dark green all throughout flowering. You want to make sure they start showing signs of yellowing before harvesting, which indicates that all of the nutes have been used up and the plant is now pulling them from the fan leaves. Big Bloom can have a tendency to linger since it has such a high phosphorus content. You've been warned! hahaha
And the hallide you were referring to is typically used during the veg state. You'll definitely want a high pressure sodium (hps) ballast and bulb for flowering, and you can get switchable ballasts that can alternate between Metal Halide (MH) and HPS. Definitely worth the investment if you will be doing more than 1 or 2 grows.
Keep up the good work mate
Peace

yaya, I meant hps, my bad. I'd still use CFLs for veg most likely but I guess we'll see. The gf has spotted some feminized OG Kush seeds that she really likes and those babies are not cheap. So I'd defintiely wanna take that to it's full potential, should we choose to go with those.

The leaves on my skinny plant are definitely yellowing up, the short one is still really green with no noticeable yellowing to speak of. Thanks for the warning on the Big Bloom too... when do you think I should start to flush? This is the 6th week of 12/12.. so maybe next week?

Re: jcm's Closet Grow

6th week of 12/12 translates roughly to about 4 weeks of solid flowering. I would wait 2 weeks or so, but that's just my opinion based on the information here... If the big one's already yellowing a little, I would definitely wait a little. The little one probably isn't using as much nutes as the big one, so it'll require a better flush than the big lady. I'll be watching a little closer over the next few weeks, so I'll chime in once in a while.
Peace

lol no kidding abotu the odor! It's completely non-existant outside of my bedroom and I'm still not using any odor control. Which is AWESOME! And shitty too at the same time cuz it smells so wonderful in there, heh.

Make no mistake, my friend. The CFLs have treated me well but the next grow WILL include HID lighting come hell or highwater.

Anony's post has reminded me that I haven't mentioned that I've been adding 2 tbsp of unsulphured molasses to my big bloom and h2o for the past week. just so ya guys know

Re: jcm's Closet Grow

Here are some new pics. Threw a lighter up for a size reference. The buds on my short plant are much bigger and fuller than my tall plant. Alot of them are 3/4 to a full lighter in length as compared to the tall plant where most the buds are right about half the length of the lighter. Are smaller buds a trait for a sativa-like plant? I'm thinking not, but I don't know.

I'm really beginning to think too that I may have underfed the tall one as evidenced by my yellowing fan leaves which I included a picture of and may have contributed to the stunted(?) bud growth. But then again yellowing of the fan leaves is normal, I hear, for about this stage in flowering so I guess I don't really know.

Either way, I'm happy with them and I'm going to cry when I have to chop them down. And it can't come soon enough because this not having enough on hand for myself has caused me to develop a nasty Djarum Spash habit lol

Re: jcm's Closet Grow

all of you guys are too much, seriously thank you heh

I was wondering when I should start flushing, but then I remember reading and being told that if you use organic nutes you don't need to flush much, if at all. I was planning on a two week flush but if a week will do then I might jsut do that. opinions?

OK so honestly, these are the pics to see right here guys. Either I've done something terribly wrong or these things change colors fucking fast. And the buds! They're huge! They're getting so fucking fat it's ridiculous. Remember when I was mentioning how much smaller the buds on the skinny plant were? Well they fucking little fat-asses now. As you can see in the pics I took of the entire plants, the fan leaves are fucking pissed off!! They're pissed the buds are taking all the energy and turning them yellow. Seirously though, I'd be pissed off too.

I'm gonna pull off one of the smaller, lower branches today and dry it for a few days as a sample. The triches seem to be just about 100% cloudy. I wanna see how long I want these babies to go
