CO2 isn't really necessary, just know that it can and does help plant growth. I'd have to find it, but you can make a dispenser pretty easily with some stuff around the house.

How many lights do you currently have? I say this because with CFLs there's the actual wattage and the realized wattage (as compared to a normal bulb). You should only concern yourself with the actual wattage. You'll want about 100W / plant. So let us know how many plants you propose growing in there and how many lights, and we'll let you know if you need more.

Also with it running and lets say behind the door, can you hear it in there? I only ask this in the event your landlord comes by when your home, and you have to disguise it and or the smell...you may end up wanting to get a fan just for the room to run if someone is over, so that it's masking the sound of the fans. Also with regards to your AC unit, is it something your landlord / neighbors will allow? lets face it, you have a big piece of cardboard above it. I know if I had to look out at that every day, I'd probably complain.

Don't want you to get busted in the event people do come over or complain about it.

What did the trick? I think moreso than anything the new fan is a 1000x better. I can put my hand up to my passive intake and feel air being sucked in. The only drawback is that it's a bathroom fan so it sounds like one. but after a couple minutes of laying down last night iwth it running, I didn't even realize it was on anymore. But even if it did bother me, it's so effective at keeping the air cool and circulating that I would jsut force myself to get used to it. But I keep a regular fan going in my room 24/7/365 so I'm used to the white noise. Of course..the ac does help too.

Right now my actual wattage is at 198...which is a little low. I wanna get atleast another 100-150 in there. But I already have plans to replace my 6- 26 watters with 42 watters. THat'll help. Just gotta get some money first...but for the time being it'll do.

As far as being able to hear it behind the door. I figure in the case of any emergency and the landlord HAS to come in my bedroom, I'll just shutt off the fans and cut a couple lights to keep the temperature down temperarily until the coast is clear. But really, I've lived in this building for a little over a year and I literally have not seen my landlord once since I signed the lease. The dude never comes around except to empty the rent money box. It help too that I'm on the second floor of a two stroy building so I don't have to worry about someone flooding their fuckin bathroom and ruining my ceiling or something. Also, it's in my bedroom and I can't think of a single logical reason anyone would ever have to go in there unless I told them to.

lol and about the AC. I'm not exactly sure if I can have it. I jsut did it anyway. I looked over my lease and nothing in there says or can be construed as to saying that I can't have it. I know and agree that the cardboard is an eyesore...I do plan on getting a piece of plexiglass cut to replace it but it's not really high on the priority list right now. I suppose if a neighbor complains I'll cross that bridge when I get there but I don't foresee it being an issue at the moment. It'll only be necessary for about another month and a half or so. Then it'll be cool enough outside to jsut keep a window open. Soi hopefully right around flower time.

But ya, as far as getting busted. I feel that with my set up and my legally required advanced notice of someone coming in...I can easily keep it under wraps. It's already a given that you tell no one. not even your best fucking friend. I think I'm in good shape stealth-wise.

1.5 hrs til the postman gets here. He better be bringing me a present, heh

Yeah, I wouldn't so much be worried about your lease calling out the cardboard, but your towns regulations and what not. Lets put it this way, they'd ask you to remove it before anything would happen.

That is a good point you make as well...there shouldn't be any reason that they go into your bedroom, and if they had to, I would rig up a safety cut off switch so that i could turn off all the fans and/or lights with one hidden switch.

I do see that you took my advice for the lights? They look like they're working well.

With regards to telling your friends, don't do it. Everything I've heard, read, seen, etc. has shown that statistically your odds of getting caught go up 10% for every person you tell, and if push comes to shove, your friends will tell on you 95% of the time. These stats were taken from the 'Never get Busted Again' DVDs. I think the only time that I'd possibly tell a friend is if they had a grow op too, but even then i'd be cautious about it.

I gotta tell ya...this waiting for them to germ bit sucks lol. How am I NOT supposed to second-guess myself and think I'm doing shit wrong the whole way when shit takes so damn long!? haha. Suppose I'd better get used to it.

I've been thinking...I decided to germ 4 seeds so I could take into account one or two being male and not gerrming or whatever. What if all 4 germ and all 4 are females??? I think I might be in trouble space-wise. 4 just sounds like it would be really cramped. I've been doing a whole lotta readin up on SCROGS. Do you all agree that that will be my best bet? ALso, I figured I'd start the sprouts off in the red plastic cups then transplant to the bigger pot. How big of a pot should I get for the long haul? I was thinking 3-gallon pots would do the trick. No?

I need something else to occupy my mind than pouring over all this stuff haha

Yeah man, growing will teach you patience, that's for sure.

Try not to have a panic attack over the female to male ratio of your seedlings. Treat them all as if they were going to be female.

3 gallon pots should be fine, since you said space was a limitation. They definitely shouldn't be root bound the whole way through depending on how long you veg. But since you are doing a SCRoG, this should work just fine.

Can't wait to see it all in action bro.

GOOD NEWS!

I was gone all day yesterday and came back today to find that 2 of the 4 in the paper towel have broke through!

Now I have to scramble really quick and finish the things I wanted to get done in the space like the light traps and getting everything strapped down where it needs to be for the long haul.

glad it's coming good for ya! you will really appreciate getting your temps down before you started, trust me. also, i'm pleased you decided to duct through the cardboard after all, much better option and it allows you to upgrade fans more easily.

Couldn't be anymore right. Especially when jcm realizes just how much time, energy, patience and money goes into a grow. Making sure the ideal conditions exist before putting your heart and soul into something just to have it come out mediocre at best is such a shame. When really all that was needed was some general tweaking of fans and adding an A/C unit, he'll know he'll get the best possible yield from his first grow and with his equipment.

Oh god my head had been swimming with all the info I've read the past couple weeks and I still feel that I have no idea what the fuck to do next lol.

anyways my next step is to run out quick and grab some plastic cups to start teh moff in cuz I forgot to grab them when I went to the store last time. Get the soil moist and drop the seedlings in about 1/4" root tip down. Cover them and stick'em somewhere dark and warm til they sprout. then after a couple days I'll drop them in tehir permanent home. OF course making sure not to give them any nutes for a while cuz they get what they need from the soil. Nothign too exciting, I suppose heh
