Alright so I just ordered the PH Meter and some PH Down solution. Albeit from two different sources so hopefully they get here at relatively the same time. Hopefully friday or saturday. Just in time for my plant to die I'm sure

alright man great job so far man another way no one has mentioned to you yet is try adding vermiculite and perlite in with the soil you are using helps to dry out tour medium a little adds more air and seems to help me buffer the nutes in my soil now after three different attempts i use a third fox farm a third 50/50 vermiculite perlite, and a third topsoil needs watering slightly more than b4 but i like it. I make my mix then knock what i can from the root ball mix that with my mix and gently surround the roots lightly water let dry heavy water then average every 3 days or sooner.

Good morning everyone! Quick question. I have the opportunity to pick up 3 light fixtures that hold the flourescent tubes. The fixtures are 48" x 6 1/4" and hold 2 T8 bulbs each. WOuld it be worth my while to pick these up and throw a couple 48" 32 Watt Daylight 6500 bulbs in each? Then I can throw a couple 2700 bulbs when it's time to flower. I can mount each fixture to a wall in the closet. It would add 192 watts at a total cost between the fixtures and the bulbs about $60 give or take. Also, what kidn of a drain on electricity would these be? Are they pretty efficient like regular flourescents? I don't know if these fixture tend to suck more energy or what. Maybe you guys can help on this? Would it be worth my while to get these? Well the plants look good today. I'll spare you the pics heh. But the yellowin on the tips of my second set of leaves seems to have progressed a tiny little bit but nothing drastic or anything. Doesn't seem to be going at the rate that the first leaves (which are basically now completely dead) did. The two sprouts are doin very well. Speaking of sprouts! After 3 days I finally have my 3rd one now poking out. Prolly won't be il tonight til I can put him under or maybe even tomorrow morning. She has taken quite a while to come around. Much longer than the other one anyways. So the good news for today is I'm finally back up to 4 plants. I have a ph meter with some PH Down solution coming in the mail sometime.

madman has a good point, you should always mix in some perlite and vermiculite (have been away from soil gardening for a little while) Instead of spending $60 on office lighting I would get a 125 watt GH envirolight to flower under for 75 or a small hps is about 135 shipped |

Speaking of the 2 week old, when can I expect to see some growth out of it? It pretty much has not budged at all. Just slooooowly getting more yellow I plan on the next time i water it after it dries up, to give it an 1/8 to 1/6 strength FF Grow Big. Good idea?As far as that lights go. HPS is pretty much out of the question as it would jsut get waaaaaay too hot in my room for it. this has to be a total Flourescent grow to keep it cool. That being said I wish I had knew about these envirolights as they seem like something that wouldhave been a good option for me. Unfortunately this afternoon I went out and got those "shoplights". picked up the 3 of them for $20 total. Tomorrow I'm gonna pick up the bulbs for it. I priced those at $24 for 192 watts (not sure of lumens). I know they aren't as ideal as CFLs but they're better than nothing I suppose. I can't complain about 192 watts for $45 I suppose. I'm going to put the shoplights surrounding them. One set on each wall so there will be light from all sides. Doing This will give me a total of 400 watts even of daylight for vegging. Once it's time to flower, with the flowering bulbs I have now plus the new ones when i buy them, the total wattage is going to be 528 (again, not sure of lumens, have to look at the packagin again). I'm hoping this will be sufficient enough for my purposes.

Hey everyone! As usual, I have a question. When I transplanted my girl to her current 1 gallon pot I had no idea this perlite stuff was so important. I thought my FF Ocean Forest by itself was sufficient. Guess not heh. My question is, what can I do now that it's in there to increase the oxygen to the roots? I'm afraid that when I water it will displace the current oxygen and not enough will get to them. Can I poke hole in the soil down to the bottom to increase it? That's really the only thought I have. Do any of you have a better solution? Thanks

What you're referring to is aeration, but be careful not to sever any roots while you're poking around down there. Another quick way to add oxygen to the soil is by using Hydrogen Peroxide. It's made of h2o, but with an extra o thrown in there. Same thing as water, but with more oxygen. Good luck. DM |

OK guys, I REALLY need your help as i'm nothign but a straightup farktard that needs to be flogged mercilessly cuz of this shit. I just don't know when to leave well enough alone. I was stupid earlier. It had been 4 days since the last water and it was pretty dry and decided to give my bigger plant a weak Grow Big solution (1 teaspoon in a gallon of distilled water) thinking maybe it could use the extra nutes COMPLETELY forgetting about my ph. The fucking meter is scheduled to be here tomorrow and for some reason I forgot about it. Well I watered it with my mixture and Ya it def doesn't look like it helped at all. I'm prolly gonna have some serious nute burn in the morning. So my question is, I'm gonna pick up some Perlite tomorrow and mix up a better soil. How would I go about flushing and transplanting this thing again into some perlite&FFOF??? Do I flush it first then work on gettin it transplanted or should I transplant and then flush? Also, can I jsust use tapwater to flush? This way I can adjsut the ph to it's correct level too. What's the range I'm looking for? I was thinking 6.5ish. I'm gonna grab just a little bit smaller pot too rather than the one gallon. I'm probably going to end up killing it transplanting it again but IMO that's it's best chances for survival right now. I'm willing to take the risk. I hate being a frickin n00b I could just shit a fuckin brick right now. I just wanna get it into it's proper home and hope for the best. Any help guys? I have myself all worried...I haven't slept and I have to work in 4 hours. I wanna do this right away tomorrow morning when I get home from work at 8. Also, is all perlite created equal or is there a certain kind I should look for??

I think FF makes perlite too. Best bet is to go with them. I don't think that your plant is going to be overferted at all. Flush before you transplant, but make sure that the soil has dried adequately so it will make the transplant easier by keeping the soil in one clump, instead of a bunch of wet mess. Hope that helps.
