Yes, my cats always try to eat my plants too...... as far as the screen goes, I was thinking a screen for a mini-scrog, not so much to protect the plants. If you are seriously going to go with the AG, make it as simple as possible without adding anything, that way you won't be spending a ton of money on extras that aren't necessary. Really, you don't need anything extra if you just want a small personal grow. If you only used autoflowering strains, you could do a turnover every 10 weeks. Not bad, for a small no-nonsense system.

But, if you want to add a bunch of stuff to it to increase yield, etc., than I would suggest just going with a larger system and light....but if you want to keep it simple and not have to do anything extra (except for nutes and a fan....forgot about the fan....always have a fan on them), then just go w/ a plain AG setup.

And...no, the AG doesn't give off alot of heat. But, I don't have it enclosed.

Updated Pics - About 1 1/2 weeks before harvest

Here are some updated pics. Supposedly they should be ready in about 1 1/2 weeks. But, I will check the trichs to make sure. I am flushing w/ distilled water now. Buds are small and irregular but plentiful. Seemed like a quick 10 weeks. I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised w/ the AG.

more amazement

When you say 'flushing' can you describe, do you mean just changing the water in the resevoir without adding 'nutes? How often do you 'flush?

I notice in this set of photos some yellowing and lighter colored leaves, does this mean insufficient light or nute effect?

Still, quite amazing, but it looks like no way would there be enough room for two
of those in there!

A Great harvest awaits you though!!

Yes Stopol, when I say flushing, I mean I emptied the reservoir and will just keep plain distilled water in until harvest. You only flush when you are having problems or about 1-2 weeks before you harvest. Flushing just "flushes" out the nutes, etc. that you used during your grow. You don't want nasty tasting buds when you are done. If you don't flush your buds will burn harsh and taste bad. You don't want to smoke chemicals..

As far as the yellowing of the leaves go, this is completely normal. A mature plant yellows the closer to harvest that you get. It has used up all the nutes and this is what happens. It does not mean the plant is unhealthy or has issues, it is just nearing the end. It is basically dying now. That's the process, the plant grows, produces bud and dies. Completely normal in both soil and hydro.

Thank you! When I first started this grow, I searched and searched for other AeroGarden grows and found them, but never saw any that actually finished. Figured they made it through the veg stage and couldn't make them flower. So, hopefully this thread will prove skeptics wrong. Very easy! Good luck

thanks

Thanks! I am a total noob!
When my current LED grow is finished, I am going to copy you as much as possible.
I think it's a great way to get started and 'learn by doing'
Your advice is helpful and MUCH appreciated! Anyone can see that
your results are quite amazing, good advertising for Aerogarden

I'm looking forward to the last set of pictures....

My LED grown plant is now at 5 weeks and lookin' good
BTW, it looks like lowlife seeds will be back at the end of March
hopefully with some new variety's

Cheers!

hey if your going to grow with led lights us should try that new ufo led light I guess it has as much light as a 400 watt hps light i think that would be perfect for these new lowlife strains an auto strains

Just checked out that UFO LED setup. Pretty cool....but the price $599 - that's pretty steep.

led's and aerogarden

Hi,
As kbfl0912 has noted the LED lights are QUITE expensive. My own preference however is for the Procyon 100. All of the overhead lighting schemes (CFL or LED) suffer from the disadvantage that the top of the canopy will tend to block out light and prevent it from reaching the lower leaves. I suspect it's why kbfl0912 added supplemental lighting, just look how dense his plant is!

If you look at my previous photo, you'll see I have LED's on the side as well as on top (2-1 ratio top/side), this works well, I am running 77 watts of LED's total now and at 5 weeks have a really outstanding plant, LOTS of hairy pistils and can already see the resin forming on the leaves, and this plant is only at the halfway point!

What kbfl0912 has done is to show us that a slightly enhanced Aerogarden can grow outstanding plants, with not a whole lot of effort in either setting up or maintaining. His example has motivated me to go from where I am now (soil growing with LED's) to his example of the Aerogarden. If my experiences with that are as good as his, I'll just stick with it, otherwise maybe I'll combine the Aerogarden with a Procyon 100. I have combined reading on forums such as these with the experience gained from 'doing it myself'. Eventually, I'll hit on what works for me, and stick with that. For my needs a single crop from the Aerogarden would meet my needs for a year, no problem, others may have different goals, and need different amounts, for them the Aerogarden is nothing more than a learning tool to move onto larger hydroponic systems, which likely could benefit from LED lighting. I am growing a shorter lowlife autoflower than kbfl0912. Likely I could fit a plant in each pod (I think 7?) At 10 grams of tight buds each plus leaves, etc (that I then soak in pure ethanol and make a delightful apertif called Green Dragon), that's a year's supply for me! Then, I can afford the time to seed plants and make my own novel autoflower plants, and that's a lotta fun

cheers!

Well said stopol......btw, I'm a she

Things are lookin' great. Pistils are turning pink, some of the buds actually have a purple coloring to them. I didn't think AK47 had any purple traits. Anyway, I will update w/ pics soon.

Thanks.

oops

Oh my, my bad! Please forgive the unintended insult! Can't wait to see your photos. Will you feel a little sad at 'harvest' time, losing your little girl that you've taken such excellent care of? I kinda feel a little sad, a part of me likes growing cannabis just for the sake of growing it. In it's own unique way, it IS an attractive and interesting plant. I suppose I need to adopt the attitude that native Americans had when hunting the animals that they also worshiped.

LOL, no I won't feel bad, I did with my first grow. But, now I just get excited to see what I produced. I have two more in plugs right now next to this one. They just popped there tap root so I put them in the plugs this morning. Figured since I was just running distilled water, they could go right in there now. Their roots won't be entagled w/ the other one by the time I take her down. So, they will have a little head start. I had such a bad ratio of male/female last time, hopefully these two will be females. Figured I would just finish off this batch of seeds w/ the AG.

I really like these Autoflowering strains. I will be glad when Lowlife releases more. For personal small grows, they are perfect. You don't have to deal w/ the whole day / night / no light thing and 10 weeks from seed to harvest....not bad........add the convenience of the AG and it's basically fail proof. I'm glad I tried this out.
