I'm a "SAVAGE" good heavens man you have know idea......I was born into a Military family......Traveled the WORLD as a child growing-up with a Father in the "Intelligence Community" ..........until 1985 I never lived in the same place for more than 9 months.......I attended Private Schools all my life Elm,High,College...and I hold more than 1 degree in of all fields HORTICULTURE there "Sunshine" So if ya' wanna talk cutting edge....Why? the 400Watt HPS?......I was using 430 SonAgros (Sent to me by a gentlemen know to most as Neville) in 1986 under which I grew Haze x NL#5 years before it was available to the public

Just to put everyone mind at ease I will detail my growing exp......

1978 First outdoor garden 50 plants(Mexican Gold Bud) Hidden in one 640 acre field.....my Family still owns 10 Sections in that area of So.East Mo........

1979 only grew 10 Plants that year............still had pot from that in Sept.1981

1980 Moved to Mn. from Mo.....not a good place to grow Mexican Weed...only tops that year....no buds Frost came way earlier in Mn.

1981 Tried it again....10 plants only tops again but LOTS of them

1982 Excelerated Learning Program...... High School1/2 day and Uof M for 1/2 day take my first Horticulture Course "Propagation 101" Covering Air Layering,Cloning,Grafting,Carnation Production,Germiniam Production,Hardwood Propagation...........Smoked my first Indica "Maple Leaf"
No plants that year Deer got them.....I got one of them with my bow...lol
Started some under Floros...just clippin and smokin leaf

1983 Second year of horticulture "Propagation 202" Covering in detail Cloning,and Tissue Culture ..........I created a new Siberian Iris I combined genetic material on a microscopic level of an iris and crossed it back to itself.......I still hold a patent on it.....she all mine
Pulled off my first Bud in Mn. about 3/4 oz from one female Maple leaf seed
Grew under a 150 Watt HPS....HYDRO in Pumice rock Ebb & flow bin 24"x24"x12" 4cycles per 24 hour with Schultz 10-15-10 Ferts......grew some sweet buds that year

1984 Back to School This time for Greenhouse Mgt. learned all about Production under lights....30-1000 watt HPS for Roses,Carnations, and Tomatoes
Grew Some Fuckin HUGE MJ Trees that year two were 9 feet tall 3 were 7 feet tall....we Veged for 6 Months under 3-1000WattHPS's and flowered for 4 months in a Dairy Barn we got 10 Lbs and a coupla oz of Bud and over and 10 or 11 garbage bags of leaf that we feed to his dads Pigs(we didnt know anything about makin Hash back then) His dad took half for the electric bill

1985 to 1990 whereabouts Classified

1990 Resurface Bud room is 3-1000 Watt HPS Veg room 3-1000 Watt MH 16 24"x28"x18" Bins of Rockwool in each room on casters for moving around Growing Williams Wonder,Hash Plant Pure,HazexNL#5....Began designing Grow Ops for a living ...I would come look at your space design a grow space for you and then give you a list when the list was complete .....I would inspect it and fill it with clones...then I would visit once per week thru the first cycle teach you to clone,veg.bud & repeat....my payment was 1/2 of the bud from the first cycle...that was the top 1/2 of each plant...or the top 1/3 from the first two cycles....some times it was a 150 with 4 plants up to a 5,600sq ft home that was ALL electric converted to run on all propane house lighting and everything...so all elec. could go to the grow op. all 15,000 Watts of it......that one flowered 1,000 Hash Plant Pure Clones in 4" wool cubes....anybody ever PH and Nute Balance 1,500 gallons of water at a time without "Pens" I did that until 1995 then I just grew under my own 430's and sold 100,s of clones

Present Day I live in the Mtns. off-grid Bcuz I want to ..........not bcuz I have to
I am growing this way bcuz HPS ballasts and Inverters & Batteries do not get along well...CF"s seem to work well with the batteries

I will say that I have No exp. with these new LED's that looks very promising for the future...........Just not real soon ....when the Chinese get involved the price will drop..........picture 1000Watts of LED

I'd love to live like that m8 - i lived the traveller life for a few years in a trusty old ford bus, but still lived on pot noodles & chips
U can't beat the great outdoors - pretty rural where i am like, but I can't shoot elk on the doorstep!

It just seems a lot of work for a small reward - but i suppose if u compare it with my average 1/2lb - 1lb per 3mth or so, I suppose it adds up about the same.

I work away a lot however & need my setup to be fully automated & can't be around to tend my crop daily, or even weekly sometimes if im overseas / offshore.

Also = the space aspect. The setup u use would take up the room of a double drobe on it's back & as a domestic grower is a nono for me.
Respect for ur method tho fella - it obviously works well for u

seems like a lot of work, I'm getting some LED's in the mail and will be following their progress on my grow journal. Could wind up saving you lots of stored energy. I agree that there are many methods to this; but I am not great at cloning so, for now, it's seeds for me.

I think all I have stated was that for the better part of my life I have made my living from Gods gift to Humanity..... the Marijuana Plant in one way or another.
By the way ....I do not know you nor you me....but if you were to ask a question or for help and I had the answer......I would gladly give it...... thats just who I am. And that is why I offered to share what I have learned with the masses...I just don't think others need to fail or stumble at what we do .....I belive this sums it up pretty well " why try to re-invent the wheel..when the round ones work just fine"

Hey man, cool thread. Hoping you can help me out. I'm starting from scratch. I ordered some Nirvana Ice seeds. Here is a picture of my closet:



I am thinking about building or buying a 3x3x4 cab or a 2x2x3 cab. Would this be a good box?



How many plants could I fit in those spaces? And how much wattage would I need in CFLs? I don't care much for yield right now, this being my first grow.

I'm in it for the experience and the ability to smoke my own homegrown. Help me out if you can please!

Up until a few years ago, hydro solutions didn't contain Nickel. We didn't know how important it was. Now we do. And it wasn't the first. There is still more undiscovered chemistry in cannabis growing, and sure, eventually your "proper nutrients" will contain it all, but not yet.

Let's not start the hydro vs soil debate here (because it's moot, anyway), DrBudGreengenes is trying to share a nice system with noobs. You might even learn something yourself.

ps. HPS on its own produces inferior bud, no matter how good your genetics are. Yield is not everything.

OK .....well the "Holidays" are over and we can get on with this...
12 clones have been taken ........
3 mothers - Other than "Big Momma"...lol
Clone are the top pic....
12 - clones in 3oz cups in pure perlite ...watered with 1/4 strenght nutes and in 100% Humidity .....under 24 hour light.

3 - Mothers in the next pic in the black pots on the right.

The next pics shows the 1L bottles we will be flowering in .

With the 12 clones we have now we will need to figure out how tall the lil' buggers will need to be when they go to flowering to finish at the right height

i have a q about reveg i'd like your help with. basically I have a nice white rhino I want to reveg and use as a mother for clones, it's been a great plant and i really just dont feel like fucking with anymore seeds. so my q is, when i harvest my plants i'm going to jerk them all up except this one, what the fuck should i do with it? should i simply snip all the buds off and stick it under 24/0 or leave just bottom buds, or leave just the bottom of the plant? I have had mixed answers on this from others, some stating "It's an anual plant, you're not going to succeed" .. Success of the plant living to clone from is more important to me than the bud on the plant, so whatever I have to do to make it work is fine by me.

The best way to Re-Veg is to take that plant and Harvest the rest of them put that plant on 24/7 light with ALL the buds still on it ...in a lil' while they will start to stretch out the top of each bud......at that point cut 90% of the buds off of her and keep her on 24/7 ...she will start to suck the inside of the buds that are left..... out its cool to watch...clumps of branches will burst out of the buds ya' left at that point take mant clones ....and start a new mother plant to keep small from the start...... and ya can Bud the Donor again

I anyone tells ya' that ya' can't re-veg show them these pics........She is 2.5 years old and has flowered twice outside then comes in for the winter.....she alive and well

Tell them to try to count the "Nodes" in the last pic.....lol
