I am going to start a setup very similar to yours. Do you use two different types of CFL's for veg and flower? I know you mentioned the different sizes but what about soft white and daylight? Any help would be appreciated, one of my seedlings will be an outdoor too, so i'm anxious to see how it performs indoors. Very envious of your lifestyle

Dave, the emphasis is on blue (daylight) for veg and red (soft white) for flower. I just give my plants a mix of some blue and and some red so it gets a better spectrum, also kinda silly switching like 6 or more bulbs everytime you switch cycles.

If "Dave" is building a Set-up/System like mine......

Why would he be switching bulbs?

Why would he be switching cycles?

"Take cutting from Mother plant on the mother shelf (mixed spectrum)....place cutting in clone box on cutting shelf (mixed spectrum).....5-12 days later remove now rooted clone pot in soda bottle and place on clone shelf for 24 hours and then into the Flowering box under Warm White bulbs"
Repeat as neccessary.....

I guess I interpreted his question wrong... Some people I know who do cfl grows actually switch all the bulbs when they switch from veg to flower, but thats sort of irrelevent. Anywho, DGG, I got a lot of respect for ya bro, when taxes come around and I can afford my light (150w cfl, I dont want 10+ lights in my closet, kinda scares me) i'll be around this thread more you've done some great work here and i'd like to get my sog thumb dirty soon

My system uses 3 shelves
1 for clones (2x15W florex<blue 2x13 warm white<Red)
1 for mothers (1x42W warm white<Red 1x65WFlorex<blue)
1 for flowering ( 5x 42 W warm white<Red)

perfect, that makes perfect sense now. I already have the soft white CFL's that i would need, warm light would be the same as soft white...correct? otherwise all of my cabinets are built, and I just started to germinate. What are the genetics in "Chesaw"? I was wondering because my seeds are from different batches of mixed indica and sativa, so do you think my results would be drastically different compared to your finished product in the 1L bottles? I think you would be really interested in one strain i have collected called "badfinger" the plant it came off of looks very very similar to your finished product. Who knows really what strain it truly has been crossed from, but regardless i believe it should do well in a similar setup.

Wow what a great read!! Hopefully you can help me out dr bud

I hate going to dealers places, they often get busted here so i want to do it safe. I want to yield a 1/2OZ every month, what is a good schedule for this and how many plants would it take total, and each stage.

What would be suitable dimensions for each chamber of the box for a grow op on this scale?,

I am looking to build one and i figured id ask you because i plan to do what you are doing, only on a smaller scale.

I have 3 23 watt globe cfl's equivalent to 100 watts of light and 1600 lumens. They are soft white. I also have a 2' 20 watt philips "cool white plus" 2 fluoro tube, would these be of use to me?

thanks in advance and i hope you can get me started on the box asap. I already have a lightbar made from previous attempts

The Good Doctor, hows it going. I bet that bear meat of yours is mighty tasty! I shot a 345 lb black bear last month and he made some good stew!

This whole post has inspired me greatly to start my own SOG grow. I've already built my cabs, pretty much to the same size as yours. But I have one small question... approximately how long will it take to grow a Mother Plant from seed that will sustain the amount of clones I need?

Thanks for the help!

Oh btw, I love the self sufficient wilderness thing. I live in a real small wooded outpost in the UP of MI. I can relate to you almost 99%. Nothing better then the beauty and peacefulness of the northern woodlands. Also, living out there in a remote location you must see/hear some crazy stuff. I consider myself a true woodsman, but the other day at my camp I heard the most god awful grunts and howls coming from about 30 yds away in pitch blackness. Real hostile stuff. Nothing like the usual predators I hear. I mean these were some wicked sounds from wildlife that I've NEVER heard before. Anything like that ever happen to you out there?

How far away are the closest Railroad Tracks?

I'm guessing you have heard a "Grizz" growl and pop its jaws before? So it was not that?

Any reports of "Biggie" in the area?

If you hear it again DO NOT let your Dog or Dogs out they will kill a Dog faster than you can call them off....are ya' missing any cats?

Was it a Growl followed by a Whoop then some Grunts?
Try to locate the place it came from and look for 2"-4" trees "Twisted" or broken over at about the 6-7' level

Wolves are our biggest Problem up here....sombitches(The Pack) will eat a dog while it's still fighting with the first one

The State say we don't have Griz or Wolves here untill Ya' show them a Video of them F***in' stuff up then they will pay for the damage.....Bears are Knockin' over spring houses all the time...they like to drink from a fountian....lol

The state threw a fit last spring when "Stump" shot a Cougar in his yard .....til' they saw the Video of his shooting it off the back off a horse it was on.....

The closest tracks from where the camp is are probably 40 miles away. I have to drive through about 10 miles of swamp just to get to my camp haha.

But like I said, I know my local predators VERY well, my uncle was a DNR officer and I've spent enough time in the woods to know how to track and identify them. This was something bigger and meaner. I'm not scared of alot of things when I'm in the woods, but I can't even begin to tell you the case of fright I was having.

"Biggie"? As in the Bi-Pedal Primate the stalks the woods? It's strange that you ask that because about 4 months ago an outfit known as BFRO or something were investigating an area not very far from the camp. They had talked to me once when I was in town and were asking questions about encounters and things, but up until that point I had not had anything happen.

As for the growls, whoops, and grunts - it was a single whoop I heard first. About 100 yds away as I was unlocking the door to my camp. I stood there for a minute to hear it again, but nothing happened so I figured I was hearing things. So after I dropped off my guns and equipment for hunting season I locked the door up and was walking to the truck. I heard a couple of knocks from about 50 yds away in the other direction. Sounded like branches being knocked against trees. I thought that was very strange so I decided I wanted to get the fuck out of there. Then to other side I heard a whoop about 30 yds away. The way I was hearing it, it sounded like I was being surrounded. So I jumped in the truck and grabbed the revolver from under my seat. My window was partially opened and I could hear this growling and grunts from about 20 yds away getting closer.

That's when I started the car, fired 3 shots out the window and took off like a bat out of hell. It was honestly one of the most terrifying experiences I've ever had. Of my 20 years being out in the woods I've seen many things. I've been chased into trees by bears, I've been charged by Deer with impressive racks (HAHA that one never gets old), I've even stared down a cougar. But I've never EVER been harassed like that in the woods.

Think it could be one of our distant 'relatives' getting territorial on my land?

Oh yeah, back to the main question...
How long approximately will it take to grow a mother plant that can give clones?
or better yet, How long after I determine sex can I draw clones?

Sounds like you had an "Encounter" ya' got any game cams out "Trail Watchin'"?
I thought those guys were full of it (BFRO) til Jane Goodall started working with them and speaking on the subject.....

Hey DrBud Hope you can answer a few questions for me.

I have 3 23 watt warm white bulbs, will these be sufficient enough if i only had 9 little girls in the flowering box at one time?

How important are the Mixed spectrum in the Mother box and cloning/ veg box?

Also what light cycle do you use for flowering? you may of mentioned it but i may of missed it. 18/6 or 12/12?

how much snow you got there now? It snowed a foot already here in the past 7 hours

Wow, that's a good idea. Never thought of that, but it makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for the help.

I'm probably going to have 3 mothers of different strains (Nirvana's Afghani, Blueberry, and White Rhino) so wish me luck.

Oh believe me, I'm gonna put some out there in the next couple days. I want to see whats going on out there. Not to mention I saw a massive 12 pointer coming out of the swamp on my way up to camp.

Yeah since that time that they came up I've been looking into their information. I'm definitely a believer after that little surprise. I've also checked online for their expedition report and it sounded pretty conclusive. Apparently they were watching the creatures with the thermal equipment, but didn't have recording equipment on hand.

But I am definitely going out to look for evidence and put some trail cams up. Who knows, maybe I'll earn their trust and the first clear photo of sasquatch will be me smoking a blunt with him. HAHA!
