What's up grasscity?

For my first grow, my set up includes.

4x4x7.5 GYO grow tent
600w HPS cooltube
Hydrofarm 6inch inline fan
6inch GYO carbon filter
Five 4 gallon pots and one 2 gallon(just what I had laying around)
Fox farms ocean forrest soil
Will eventually pick up Fox farms bloom nutes in a couple weeks.

So a little background. When I first got my seeds, I didn't have the 600w yet, and ran out and bought a 2 foot HO T5 flouro and tried starting them, not wanting to transplant and stress my plants as less as possible(being auto's) I planted them directly into their final pots, filled with FFOF and I used a cup to push down the center, and filled that with a little bit of seedling starter soil so they would grow into the FFOF. Well, needless to say, one 2 foot bulb and a clamp light was NOT enough light to spread over 6 pots(should have started in solo cups would have been perfect) So all my little girls stretched. I finally got my 600w in the room and overnight I came back they were all laying down, the had pretty decent growth that night and were all just too heavy, so I staked them, and put a fan on them, to strengthen the stems, and after they stiffened up a little bit, filled the pots a little more with the extra seedling starter I had, have been doing great since.

I have noticed one of my girls has one of the leaves curling upwards. Do any of you guys have any guesses as to what it may be? I've read a lot of mixed answers. It's not at a point that I would consider bad, Kind of hoping is just a temporary little quirk.

PS: Lemon Skunk is on the bottom left.

It's probably just a funky leaf, a handful of my sprouts had really weird leaves for the first set or two, but now are growing normally

If everything works out, I think you're gonna get a pretty sick yield for your first grow :smoke:

Yeah its normal for leaves to curl up, theyll come good.
Im growing super lemon hazes at seedling stage and they went a bit retarded and curled up a bit, probally genetics.
Great set up, ill keep an eye on your grow, looks promising, we have similar set ups.
Check out my grows if u have time.
Peace, bout to go smoke some great white shark hash off the trimming scissors.

Thanks guys. I hope I do get a sick yield, but really I'd be stoked for an ounce between all six plants, and I would say that's setting the bar low, the way I figure, is an ounce of dank(or anything better than the reggie/mids I've been smoking on for years) would cost me almost the same as what I have invested into my setup, and I would be pleased.

I'll definitely check out your grows.

whoa an ounce between six plants is setting the bar extremely low haha, I'd say you'll be getting at least 4oz, and that's a very conservative guess
How long do you plan on vegging for? I did 8 weeks veg (I think.. didn't really keep track of dates/time span haha) and then 9/10 weeks flower and got about 1.5oz per plant, plus a couple ounces of trimmings that made 2lbs of delicious budder|

durr forgot that you had autos going, so nevermind haha

Yeah, I like setting the bar real low. It makes me that much happier when I not only surpass my expectations, I hopefully blow them out of the water. Whatever I yield, I'm going to have to figure out how to make it last a full cycle, or stick to auto's I don't know.

I have a few cotton candy seeds and a little extra room in my tent, I was thinking about starting them now, and letting them veg until harvest. Haven't really decided yet. Would be nice to switch to flower the same time I harvest. I may also set up a veg tent and try to get a perpetual going myself.

Week 2 update

So far so good. These fine little ladies are 2 weeks from seed today. Curling keeps happening, somebody told me it was because of my temps, I honestly cant get it cooler than 83-87. I know weed can grow in climates much hotter than that though, so I dunno.

Lemon skunk is on the top right in the rows. I was attaching some duct work earlier today, and knocked the poor girl over on accident. Don't think too much harm was done though. She's just a slow little thing, last one to sprout, and has been growing at a much slower pace than the Auto AK. Hopefully she'll have some real sweet smoke if she doesn't have size going for her.

Hm, could just be the plants genetics, I personally don't think it's the temps since they're in the 80's... my first grow my plants had to endure 90+ for quite awhile (sometimes it'd get to the lower 100s) and I didn't really have any curling. From what I understand, as long as you have good air circulation, the ambient temp has less of an effect (poorly worded, but what I'm trying to say is that higher temps require better air circulation allowing the plants to breath more efficently... just like humans in the heat)

The plants are looking great btw... switching to flower when you harvest should work out, so long as it's all for personal use (more or less) I'm pretty sure you'll be able to harvest the second batch by the time you exhaust your first harvest. Having a perpetual auto grow would be pretty sick too, don't think I've ever seen that before. Only thing is you'd have to keep buying seeds (I think... maybe you can clone autos? I've read that it doesn't work out so well) but that's still a fraction of the cost

Depending on the results of these plants, I might go a perpetual auto route. Mainly because I want to try a lot of different kinds of smoke available to me. If the yield is right, I'm definitely sticking with autos for a while.

Thanks for the comments man, I'm just surprised at how quick they are growing. Seems the bigger they get, the faster they grow. I'm so stoked to see all the branching out that's starting to occur.

Lemon skunk is staying short and fat compared to the AK's. The serrated leaves are a lot more roundish, and small. Has a lighter color to it too.

Yeah the growth almost seems exponential, it's really amazing to see how quickly they grow

It truly is amazing. All the stocks have thickened up now..except the lemon skunk, poor thing. It's the one I wanted to give the most love, and yet is the one struggling the most. It's also got this funky thing going on with it's leaves one is like stretched out and tilted. I watered them today and rearranged them according to size depending who got the closest to the bulb. I moved the lemon directly in front of the fan, and closest to the bulb. The pant that was in it's place the past week is now the biggest, so we'll see how she does.

Also, smell. I can smell these ladies as soon as I walk in my house, even though it's veg, I'm enjoying the smell. Don't have the carbon filter hooked up yet, as it's a cheapo and want to reserve it's performance until flower. Which from the very little info I could find about the Auto AK should start in the next week or two. I'm "supposed" to start seeing pistils after week three, which is about a week from now. I mentioned before, the branching has me stoked, there's branches starting to come out of everywhere, from what I saw on youtube from this guy McDoobs these ladies are going to heavily fill out, and his were under 400w of cfl compared to the 600w hps these lucky ladies get.

Edit: For some reason my temps rose a little bit on my thermometer, It's been reading 87-90F more often now with lights on, but no higher than 90F. The High is 90F with lights on and has the lowest at 70F with light off. Also, what is a good humidity to try and keep it at? It fluctuates so often.

I love it.

I only have one grow under my belt so I can't really give the 'best' answer, but my humidity was around 30% to 50% and that seemed to work out well. What are yours fluctuating between?

Well, my humidity fluctuates between 20-45%. Don't know if that's a bad thing or not. I would hate to have something of mine shipped to the wrong address. That would be so awkward if you had to go get them from a neighbor or something. I wish the handlers were more careful with what they do. I was so disappointed when I got my 600w HPS because the glass cool tube was all cracked to hell. Didn't really have much choice, hung the bitch and have been using it. Still sucks though.

Also, all of the Auto Ak's are still green and growing strong, but the lemon skunk is starting to yellow up around her edges. I was thinking maybe it's time for some nutes? Was going to go to the hydro shop around here and pick some up, though I watered a couple days ago, they won't need a watering for a few more. Would it be ok to feed if the soil is still slightly damp? I have been letting it dry completely out, bone dry, before I watered again. Suggestions? Should I just feed the lemon skunk that's started yellowing?

That sucks, mine came through the mail and everything was fine excempt my HPS bulb was broken slightly on the inside, didn't spark up. Company sent me a replacement, bulb was fine.

The box was banged up pretty bad, they just packaged everything real well

Yeah mine wasn't really packaged that well. I'm sure I could have sent it back and had it replaced, but my girls were stretching and I just couldn't afford to wait. haha
